The Ruthless CEO's Revenge Wife
Chapter 141: A K-Drama Knight

Chapter 141: A K-Drama Knight

She brushed a strand of hair from her face and let her head fall back onto the pillow.

"Logan..." she whispered to no one.

The name clung to her lips like a secret.

She hated how safe it sounded.

The sound of girlish laughter floated down the hallway.

Emma burst into Jean’s room with an armful of shopping bags... snacks, comfy clothes, skin masks, and a ridiculous looking plush pillow that resembled a grumpy cat.

Hannah followed close behind, holding a tray of homemade fruit smoothies, grinning like she was on a mission.

"Well, well, Sleeping Beauty," Emma teased, dramatically placing a pair of fuzzy socks on Jean’s lap. "You’ve been saved from your castle and now your prince has sent in the court jesters to babysit you."

Jean blinked at them, confused and mildly amused. "Court jesters?"

Hannah giggled, setting down the tray. "Your prince is worried. So he sent in reinforcements."

"Also," Emma chimed in, wiggling her eyebrows, "he said don’t let her lift a finger... his exact words were, and I quote, ’She better not even think of checking her emails today.’"

Jean smiled, a little reluctant at first, but it grew.

"I’m fine, really," she said.

Emma gave her a look. "You got thrown into a fire, Jean. I’m not sure fine is the word I’d go for."

"I’m alive. That’s enough."

Hannah reached over and took her hand. "And you have people who care about you now. Real ones. Like my brother Logan."

Jean’s smile faltered.

Emma didn’t let the moment slip. "Seriously though, are you still going to pretend like you don’t get butterflies every time he walks in the room?"

Jean groaned. "I knew this was going to be a mistake..."

"Oh, it’s too late now," Emma said, already plopping down beside her with a foot mask. "You’re married to a man who looks like he walked out of a K-drama and behaves like your personal knight. Accept your fate, Jean."

"You guys are impossible."

That made Jean blush, caught completely off-guard. She looked away, but they caught it.

Emma and Hannah high-fived each other.

"Okay, enough," Jean said, trying... and failing... to hide her smile. "If I knew this is what I’d be dealing with, I’d have begged Logan not to call you both."

"But you didn’t," Emma smirked. "Which means part of you needed us."

Jean went quiet for a moment.

Then, in the softest voice, she said, "Yeah... I did."

The air inside the Kingsley Corp executive chamber was cold, calculated.

Logan stood at the head of the long glass table, sleeves rolled up, jaw tight. Henry sat beside him, tapping on a sleek tablet.

Three trusted senior team members... Marcus from Legal, Priya from Financial Forensics, and Nate from Cybersecurity... waited silently for the order.

"Adams Enterprises," Logan finally spoke, eyes sharp as steel, "We’re tearing it down. Quietly. Methodically. No headlines. No fingerprints."

Henry nodded. "We’ve pulled their board’s background checks. Alex is involved with at least three offshore trusts with questionable inflows. Shell companies are hidden behind shell companies. Some of the names on these lists... are dead."

Logan’s voice was clipped. "Good. I want you to connect them to two things... government contracts and laundering. If we prove either, the tax department will devour them."

Priya spoke next. "We found a bribe trail. Small amounts but frequent. Paid to low level city officials. If we keep tracing upward..."

"...we found the rotted head," Logan finished. He looked at Nate. "What about their data?"

Nate cracked his knuckles. "Already in. Their security is outdated. Give me two more days and I’ll have full logs, email trails, and enough compliance violations to make them sweat."

Logan leaned forward, hands on the table. His voice dropped to a dangerously calm whisper.

"I don’t care how long it takes. I want him cut off from every supplier, dropped by every partner, and investigated by every agency. I want him cornered so tightly, the only way out is to confess or burn."

Henry gave him a look. "Should we tell Jean?"

A pause. Logan’s eyes darkened.

"No. Not until it’s done. I don’t want her to carry the burden of revenge. She’s suffered enough. This..."...he pointed at the files on the screen. "...this is mine."

The team nodded.

And as Logan walked to the window, looking down on the city that had built and broken him, he whispered to himself, not for the team to hear...

"You wanted a war, Alex. Now watch how Kingsley fights it."

The penthouse was wrapped in a hushed warmth, the city skyline outside a quiet blur of lights. Inside, laughter had long faded into slumber.

Logan stepped in and paused.

Jean was curled up on the sofa, legs folded beneath her, the TV playing some muted rom com. Her arm rested on a cushion, and her gauze wrapped hand cradled the remote.

On the center table, four empty wine bottles stood like fallen soldiers beside two women passed out in dramatic poses... Emma with a cushion over her face, and Hannah half sprawled with an empty glass still in hand.

A soft chuckle escaped Logan as he walked closer. He gently brushed Hannah’s hair back, smoothing it like he used to when she was younger.

"I hope," he said quietly, eyes twinkling, "you didn’t fill your stomach with alcohol while taking your meds."

Jean looked over at him with that familiar, sharp edged grin. "As if I could with these two watchdogs around. I had one sip before Emma confiscated my glass like a warden."

Logan laughed, then sank beside her on the sofa with a heavy exhale, resting his head briefly against the backrest. The weight of the day, the plan he had just set into motion, the mask he wore at Kingsley Corp... everything unraveled in that moment of calm.

Jean turned her head to look at him. For a second, she just watched him. The dark shadows under his eyes, the way his tie was pulled loose, his shirt sleeves rolled up.

He looked like he hadn’t slept in days.

Is it because of me?
