The Ruthless CEO's Revenge Wife
Chapter 128: To Catch Him From The Shadows

Chapter 128: To Catch Him From The Shadows

Jean nodded. "Exactly. I didn’t marry Logan for power. Or status. It was supposed to be a business deal. It was for my revenge. But now... things are blurring. His parents are sweet to me, his sister’s following me around like a lost puppy, and Logan..." She hesitated.

Emma raised a brow. "Logan...?"

Jean looked away. "He’s being too soft. Too patient. It’s... unsettling."

Emma smirked again, tone turning playful. "Aww, is the big bad Kingsley being nice to you?"

"Emma," Jean warned, but her cheeks betrayed her... just the tiniest bit pink.

Emma’s mouth dropped open. "Oh. My. God. Are you blushing?"

"No," Jean said quickly.

"You are!"

"Drop it."

"I will not drop it, my queen." Emma laughed and plopped down beside her. "So what’s next? A castle? Royal family dinners? Matching crowns?"

Jean buried her face in her hands. "I need coffee. A gallon of it. And possibly a new identity."

Emma giggled and leaned back. "Well, too bad. Because ready or not... the Kingsleys seem to have adopted you."

Jean groaned. "I was trying to keep things simple."

Emma chuckled. "Oh honey, nothing about being married to Logan Kingsley is ever going to be simple."

She wasn’t done yet. Oh no, she was just getting started.

"So," she leaned closer, resting her chin on her palm with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes. "What’s Logan like... in bed?"

Jean nearly choked on thin air. "Excuse me?!"

Emma wiggled her brows. "You heard me. Have you two done the deed yet? Is he big or average? Does he last longer? Or is he the silent, passionate type?"

Jean’s jaw dropped. Her entire face lit up like a firework show. "EMMA!"

"What?" Emma said, wide eyed and utterly unapologetic. "Come on, you married the nation’s dream CEO. I need details. For research purposes."

"There’s nothing to research! We haven’t done anything!" Jean whispered, glancing at the glass windows as if Logan might materialize through them.

Or his sister.

Emma blinked. "Seriously?"

Jean crossed her arms, still burning red. "Not even once."

Emma leaned back dramatically. "My God, the tension in that house must be thick enough to slice with a butter knife."

Jean glared at her. "Can we not..."

"But wait, if you haven’t done anything, then what’s with the blushing? Something did happen, didn’t it?" Emma smirked, her radar catching every flicker of Jean’s expression.

Jean tried to hold back, but it was pointless. With a defeated sigh, she muttered, "This morning... I woke up practically on top of him."

Emma gasped. "Scandalous!"

"That’s not even the worst part," Jean groaned, covering her face with her hands. "I accidentally... kicked his... thing."

There was a beat of silence.

Then...

Emma howled with laughter. She doubled over in her chair, slapping her thigh. "You WHAT?! Jean!"

"I didn’t mean to!" Jean hissed, absolutely mortified. "I was trying to get away without waking him and my foot just... ugh!"

Emma was crying with laughter now. "So you kicked his morning wood?! Did he die? Is he okay?!"

Jean groaned into her hands. "He gasped like he was stabbed and clenched the sheets like a drama king. I wanted the ground to swallow me whole."

Emma wheezed, still laughing. "Forget Queen Jean, you’re Assassin Jean now... taking out royal packages at dawn!"

Jean threw a cushion at her. "You’re impossible."

Emma caught it midair, still grinning. "And you, my friend, keep going, I need updates."

"I’m going to block your number," Jean muttered.

Emma winked. "You love me."

Jean sighed, half hiding her smile. "Unfortunately."

The atmosphere inside the private room was thick, almost suffocating. The lights overhead were dimmed low... just enough to reveal the trembling man sitting in the metal chair, sweat glistening on his brow despite the air conditioned chill.

The door clicked open.

Logan Kingsley stepped in.

No suit jacket, sleeves rolled up, jaw tight. The quiet rage that radiated from him was far more terrifying than any shouting could ever be. Henry stood in the corner, arms folded, silent like a statue... but fully alert.

Logan’s gaze bore into the man in the chair. "You have ten seconds to start talking."

"I... I swear I don’t know anything, man," the guy stammered, hands shaking. "I was just paid to deliver the package."

Logan pulled out a chair across from him and sat down, his voice dangerously calm. "You delivered a photograph. Of me and my wife. Do you realize how personal that is?"

The man swallowed. "I didn’t take the photo. I don’t even own a damn camera. Some guy gave it to me in an envelope... told me to drop it off and walk away."

Logan leaned forward. "Describe him."

"I... I couldn’t see his face. He wore a cap. Kept his head down. Gave me the envelope and a hundred bucks. That’s it, I swear."

"Was there a note inside the envelope too?"

The man nodded shakily. "Yeah... something typed. I didn’t read it though. I swear on my life, Mr. Kingsley."

Logan stared at him for a long moment, eyes narrowing.

"Was this about money?" he asked quietly, dangerously. "Are you trying to blackmail me?"

"No! I didn’t even know it was you until someone told me after the delivery. Please, man... I’m just a courier. I don’t know what’s in half the crap I drop off."

Henry finally spoke up. "He’s telling the truth. We cross checked his ID and background. No prior records. Just a guy trying to make rent."

Logan exhaled slowly and stood up. The tension didn’t leave his shoulders.

"Let him go," he said to Henry. "But keep an eye on him for the next week."

Henry nodded, immediately stepping forward.

Before leaving the room, Logan turned back one last time, eyes sharp. "If you’re lying... even about the smallest detail... I’ll make sure you never walk free again."

The man paled. "I’m not. I swear."

With that, Logan walked out, the door swinging shut behind him with a soft thud.

In the hallway, his jaw clenched tighter.

Someone out there was watching him.

Watching Jean.

And they had gotten too close.

Whoever they were, they were hiding in the shadows... for now.

But Logan Kingsley had never lost to shadows.
