The Ruthless CEO's Revenge Wife -
Chapter 117: The Pregnant Lady
Chapter 117: The Pregnant Lady
Jean crossed her arms, walking up with slow, deliberate steps. Her voice was low, sharp like glass. "Hovering over a married man while his wife is gone? Classy."
Cassandra’s lips curled. "Oh, I didn’t realize we were playing wife now."
Jean stepped closer, smiling with venom. "Oh, we’re past playing. I’m the woman sitting across from him tonight. The one going home with him. And the one wearing his ring."
She lifted her hand slightly, just enough for Cassandra to catch the shimmer of the diamond.
Cassandra’s mask cracked, ever so slightly. Her voice lost some of its charm. "You think you’re so special, don’t you? Like you’ve won something."
Jean didn’t flinch. "I don’t think I’m special. I know you’re not. You’re just another Chapter in his past... while I’m the headline right now."
Cassandra’s eyes flicked to Logan, who said nothing... watching them both, his jaw clenched but eyes unreadable.
Cassandra’s voice dropped, bitter and heavy. "I wanted what you have. The name. The spotlight. Him. But I guess he always had a taste for unattainable women."
Jean leaned in, her voice cool but cutting. "And here I thought you were good at reading men. Guess not."
Cassandra’s eyes flashed, but she didn’t reply. With one last tight lipped smile, she turned around and left.
Jean stood there for a moment, chest rising with each breath. Then she sat down, back straight, refusing to look at Logan.
The silence between them burned.
Logan finally broke it, voice low. "She means nothing, Jean."
Jean still didn’t look at him. "Then don’t let nothing stand so close to you again."
The final course arrived just then, breaking the tension only by proximity... because the heat simmered between them, not just from anger anymore.
And now, the world was truly watching.

The final course was elegantly placed before them... some lavish dessert Jean didn’t even register as her eyes remained fixed on her plate. Logan sat still for a moment, quietly observing her as the waiter made a polite retreat.
The tension between them could be cut with a steak knife.
"I didn’t ask her to come," Logan said finally, his voice quieter, rougher.
Jean didn’t look at him. She delicately tapped her spoon into the dessert, making a soft clink. "You didn’t ask for this marriage either. Yet here we are."
Logan sighed, then picked up his fork trying to change her mood. "You handled her well."
Jean gave a humorless chuckle. "What, did I pass your loyalty test, Kingsley? Should I expect another woman in the next course, or are we done for tonight?"
"Don’t twist this."
Jean finally met his eyes, and what he saw there wasn’t just anger... It was pride wounded by a mixture of disappointment.
"You want us to look real to the world?" she said, voice low and deadly calm. "Then stop letting your past flirt with our present."
Logan held her gaze, then leaned forward slightly. "Then stop looking at me like you expect me to fail."
She blinked, caught off guard by the honesty in his tone.
"I know I’ve had a fair share of past women," he continued, "but I’m not here to humiliate you, Jean. I’m trying to make this work. Whatever this is."
Jean looked down again, stabbing her dessert. The first bite was too sweet, too soft... yet she chewed slowly, as if it were the only thing grounding her.
Logan continued watching her, then finally spoke with a bit of humor laced in.
"I was going to give you the last bite... but now I’m scared you’ll stab me with that fork."
Jean raised an eyebrow, scoffing softly. "Oh, you should be."
He cracked a smile, but it faded just as fast. There was too much unsaid between them. Too much lingering under every glance, every bite, every breath.
"Jean..." Logan’s voice was softer now. "You were brilliant tonight. You were fierce, confident... you seemed like mine."
Her chest rose at the word, and for a moment she looked at him again. This time, she didn’t scoff. She didn’t roll her eyes.
"I’m not yours," she said gently. "Not really."
Logan met her words with silence, a slow nod. "I know. But tonight, it felt like you were. Even if it was all just pretend."
Jean’s eyes dropped to her ring, her fingers lightly brushing the band. Then she looked up at him one last time before the check came.
"Let’s get out of here," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Logan nodded. He stood, offered her his hand... this time, she took it.
They walked out of the restaurant hand in hand, the world watching, the cameras flashing.
But behind those public smiles... everything had already started to change.

The air was cooler now, with a soft breeze tugging at Jean’s dress as she stood by the restaurant’s glass entrance. She waited silently, arms wrapped loosely around herself, eyes scanning for Logan’s car.
The evening had left her emotionally frayed... too many forced smiles, lingering stares, and the haunting memory of Cassandra’s possessive eyes on Logan.
She didn’t notice the hurried footsteps until a woman stumbled beside her.
"Oh!" the woman gasped, nearly tripping over her heels.
Jean instinctively reached out, catching the woman before she hit the ground.
"Careful!" Jean said, holding the stranger by the elbow. "Are you alright?"
The woman chuckled breathlessly, brushing hair from her face. "I’m so clumsy... sorry about that." Her voice was light, cheerful even. The woman straightened herself with a sheepish grin. "So clumsy! I swear I trip over air these days."
Jean managed a polite smile... steadying the woman on her feet. "It’s alright. Just..." until her eyes dropped to the woman’s rounded belly. Her smile vanished. The words in her throat dried up.
The woman’s dress stretched tightly across a swollen, very pregnant belly.
Jean’s lips parted in surprise, her body going still.
The woman seemed to notice her stare and gave a sheepish smile, placing a protective hand over her bump. "Oh. Yeah... seven months along. Feels like I’m carrying a football team."
Jean tried to respond... say something, anything... but words dried up in her throat.
