The Ruthless CEO's Revenge Wife
Chapter 110: The Official Lie

Chapter 110: The Official Lie

"I’ve never seen a family like yours," Jean said, almost in a whisper. "All I ever knew was mine... where everything was staged, polished, empty. Where love was just another performance. Your parents? They’re real. They care."

She finally turned to Logan, her gaze vulnerable and unsure. "If I hadn’t met them, I might have never known what that looked like."

Logan didn’t speak right away. Then, gently, he asked, "So what are you saying?"

Jean hesitated. "I’m saying... I don’t know how long I can lie to people like that. Especially people who don’t deserve to be lied to."

A beat passed. Then Logan spoke, softer than she expected.

"I didn’t bring you into my life to hurt them, Jean."

She nodded. "I know."

Another stretch of silence settled in the car, heavier than before, but not cruel. Just... complicated. Like both of them were beginning to understand the consequences of a decision that once felt so calculated.

Later that evening, as the house quieted down and the guests had left, Jared sat in the lounge with a glass of whiskey in his hand. His eyes were thoughtful, his brows furrowed. Martha sat across from him, folding laundry with a calm air, while Hannah lounged nearby with her phone.

Jared finally spoke. "Something’s off with Logan and Jean."

Martha raised a brow but said nothing.

Hannah perked up. "What do you mean? They looked all lovey dovey at the pool. Logan even let Jean wipe her lipstick on his shirt," she added with a dramatic grimace. "That’s peak couple behavior."

Jared shook his head. "That’s exactly it. It felt too rehearsed. Too intentional. And don’t even get me started on those shares Jean gave him."

Hannah blinked. "What shares?"

"Jean transferred part of her company shares to Logan. And he accepted," Jared said, eyes narrowing. "Logan never mixes business with sentiment. If he married for love, fine. But why take the shares? And even if it was part of her grandfather’s will, why not return them after the ceremony? He’s not the type to need someone else’s power... he already has enough."

Martha finally put down the laundry and looked at him. "So, you think they’re faking it?"

"I don’t know. But I don’t like not knowing," Jared said.

Martha leaned back, the corner of her lips lifting into a knowing smirk. "Well, if you’re that curious, I have a plan."

Jared eyed her. "What kind of plan?"

She smiled wider, that mischievous glint in her eyes making her look ten years younger. "Let’s just say... I have my ways. I’ll know soon enough if those two are pretending to be in love or not."

Hannah grinned. "Mom’s going full spy mode again."

Jared sighed. "Just don’t scare them off."

"No promises," Martha said sweetly. "But if they’re lying, they won’t be able to keep it up for long. Not under my roof."

They stepped inside the house.

Logan stretched his arms slightly and announced with an exaggerated smile, "Home sweet home."

Jean didn’t even glance at him. She walked ahead stiffly, her jaw locked.

Nothing about this felt sweet to her... not after what happened the night before. That kiss... the way he muffled her protest and the smug look on his face afterward... she couldn’t forgive that so easily.

Logan noticed the cold aura surrounding her and quickly backed down, raising his hands as if in surrender. "Okay, okay... I get it. You’re still mad."

Jean didn’t respond, just headed toward the living room, her silence louder than any insult.

Just then, Logan’s eyes caught a small parcel on the table near the entrance. A simple envelope from the court.

He picked it up, eyebrows slightly raised. "Must be our marriage certificate," he murmured.

That made Jean stop in her tracks.

She turned around slowly, her eyes narrowing. "Great. Now the lie’s official."

Logan opened the envelope and pulled out two copies of the marriage certificate, crisp and stamped. He waved one lightly. "Look at that. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley. Legally bonded and painfully real."

Jean folded her arms. "You sound thrilled."

Logan looked up at her, sensing the tension hadn’t faded. "Still upset about last night?"

She glared. "What do you think? You kissed me without permission, Logan."

He exhaled. "You were going to scream and drag my parents in. What did you expect me to do?"

"Anything but that," she snapped. "You’re not entitled to touch me."

"You signed the contract," he said calmly, but not coldly. "You agreed to be my wife in every way... public or private. I didn’t agree to be just a prop for twelve months."

Jean’s fists clenched at her sides, but her voice softened just a touch. "I didn’t think your family would be involved. I thought it’d be you and me faking it, keeping people at a distance. But they’re... they’re good people. For once, I saw what a real family looks like."

Logan’s eyes softened, but he didn’t speak.

Jean looked down. "If I hadn’t gone with you, I’d have never known. My whole life I thought pretending was normal... like my parents did. But your parents... they weren’t pretending."

Silence settled between them. Heavy and real.

Logan looked at the certificate in his hand again. "You’re right," he said. "They weren’t."

Jean walked past him slowly, this time without sharpness in her step. Just quiet, thoughtful distance.

And Logan remained where he stood, still holding proof of a marriage that started with lies... yet was already beginning to twist too real.

The heavy vase shattered against the marble floor, sending shards flying and water splashing across Tyler Dominic’s expensive shoes. One of the larger fragments lodged into the soft flesh of his foot, blood soaking into his sock... but he didn’t even flinch.

His chest heaved, eyes wild and unblinking as he growled,

"She was mine."

The words dripped with venom.

"I want him gone! So that she can come back to me!"

Daniel Dominic stepped back warily, watching his son’s outburst with a mix of concern and calculation. "Tyler, calm down..."

"I WILL NOT!"
