The Rise of the Black Plain -
Chapter 91 - 91: Products Out of Stock
Both Olivia and her husband were staring at each other with surprise at the moment.
Olivia knew that the food that she had bought was of good quality and probably even had a decent amount of spiritual energy, but she didn't realize that it had such a high concentration of spiritual energy.
She had just put the food on the table and was still serving it to her children when her husband arrived. And since neither of the children had started to cultivate yet, they only praised their mother for the food's taste.
Olivia's husband was surprised to learn that his wife had purchased such high spiritual rich food for the same price as medium-concentration foods sold in Old Stone.
He then looked at her and asked, "Love, where did you buy this from?" He was curious as resources like these were, on average, five times more expensive than what they could afford.
"I got them from the Nash family's market, four blocks from here," she said before shoving a spoonful of rice into her mouth.
She couldn't wait to taste this rice of high spiritual concentration, in fact, this was the first time that she had such an opportunity in her 30 years of life!
"Wow! You truly weren't exaggerating!" she exclaimed excitedly.
It was truly amazing, she didn't even eat more than a few spoons, and the spiritual energy inside her body was already being stimulated!
Olivia's husband then started eating too and said. "I want you to go back to that place and buy more of these foods. Get as much as you can after considering their limited shelf life. I don't want to miss this golden chance."
...
While Olivia's family happily consumed their high spiritual concentration meal, several other individuals who had purchased items of the Black Plain were already ecstatic about this discovery.
In fact, some people even stopped their meals the moment they felt the high spiritual concentration of the food and rushed towards the Nash family's stores where these products were being sold. This was a unique opportunity for them, so they couldn't rely on other people to save a share for them.
Soon, the six Nash family markets in Old Stone that had received the items from Minos were flooded with a wave of people who had either already purchased them before or those who had heard the rumor from their close friends and family.
"Boy, I want 6 kilos of rice, 3 kilos of apples..." a lady at the head of the line said to one of the clerks at the store.
At this moment, almost all the employees at this store were busy fulfilling orders for items from Minos' region. The place was entirely packed with customers who did not want to miss this unique opportunity.
Hell, if a noble family were to find out about it, they might as well buy out the entire stock at these stores at a go!
"Girl, I want four bunches of bananas, 5 kilos of soy..."
"I want 3 kilos of grapes, 5 kilos of wheat, and..."
Numerous orders were being placed while the store had seven different queues at the moment. All of them were here to buy the products from Dry City. Each line consisted of at least 50 people who were anxious and worried about having nothing left during their turn!
...
After the launch of Minos' products in Old Stone, it had barely taken nine hours for the last kilo of food to be sold in one of the Nash family's stores.
That's right, a whopping 200 tons of ration had been completely depleted in just nine hours!
But that was not so surprising.
After all, the city had a population of more than 6 million. With such a number, it was enough for about 6,000 people who would, on average, buy 33 kilos, resulting in the entire stock of food being wiped out.
That day, the rumor ran through the city, but not so fast enough that other people could take advantage of this opportunity.
People like Olivia, who managed to go back and buy more, were in the minority. So, by the time news was widely circulated, there was nothing left to purchase anymore!
...
Meanwhile, Elen and Elena were having their dinner when the servant from before entered the dining room with a wide smile on her face, "Ms. Elen, all the items from the Black Plain have already been sold out, and we have collected an amount of 2 million low-grade crystals!" she exclaimed exultantly.
No one from the Nash family had amassed such a significant number of crystals in the past millennia, and that too in such a short time. This would undoubtedly elevate Elen's position within the family, benefiting this servant as well.
"Incredible! I didn't think the food from the Black Plain would get so popular!" Elena muttered in shock.
Although Elen told her about the events that had happened in Dry City, in her heart, she still had a hard time believing it completely. After all, she hadn't witnessed or experienced these changes by herself...
"Hmm, I was already anticipating for something like this to happen. But I still thought it would take a day or two," Elen replied with a dry smile on her face.
According to the agreement she had made with Minos, she would retain 10% of the total collected in this first operation. However, due to the lack of ships in the Black Plain for transporting the items to Stone Island, this provided her with more than 200,000 crystals!
While this might seem like a minor when compared to the 2 million business, it was still a substantial sum!
Elen's operating cost had been less than 30,000 crystals, resulting in an enormous profit from this operation.
Even her entire family only earned a profit of about 15 million low-grade crystals a year!
And this profit came from the work of the whole family, with thousands of people!
Because of this, Elen was pleased to have encountered Minos while she was passing through Dry City. She would never have thought that such an opportunity of a lifetime would arise in such a place!
'It's no wonder that people say that those who work hard end up finding some lucky opportunities!' Elen thought.
"Aunt Sally, bring bodyguard Eduard here. I want him to personally go to Dry City to go and hand over Mr. Minos' share of this business," Elen instructed while looking at the woman who had brought the news.
In their initial agreement, as the family hadn't authorized her to make an advance payment to Minos, they had agreed to make the payment after the sales were completed. And, of course, Minos wasn't worried about being robbed since that would be much worse for Elen than for him.
...
At the same time, in the Nash family patriarch's office, three men were talking about different matters when a servant entered the room and whispered something into the patriarch's ear.
"What?" Marvin Nash almost leaped out of his chair upon hearing what the servant had just said.
Noticing the reaction of the family's patriarch, the two men frowned with their brows furrowed. One of them was Richard Nash, the current supreme elder of the Nash family and Elen's father. At the age of 634, he was a level 57 cultivator.
The other man was one of the family's elders, Sigmund Nash, 550 years old and was at level 55.
The supreme elder, Richard, asked with a severe look, "What happened, Marvin? Has the Allen family done anything against us?"
The Allen family was another power of Stone Island, a competitor of the Nash family.
"No, it's little Elen..." Marwin responded, letting out a deep breath.
Upon hearing this, the two men did not understand when Richard asked with concern, "What had my daughter done now? Did she offend any great power?"
The patriarch then smiled and said in disbelief, "She made a deal, which within just one day has collected 2 million low-grade crystals!"
"How is this possible?" Before Richard could say something, Sigmund couldn't hold his shock and blurted out in disbelief.
He couldn't believe that a young woman like Elen had made such a business. In fact, they were never able to accomplish so much in such a short time!
"How did little Elen do that?" Richard inquired further.
"I'm not sure, but I think it was..." Marvin then started explaining about what he had heard from his subordinates about Elen's recent activities.
He also remembered that his stupid son had offended a crucial ally of Elen a few weeks ago.
"I see. Well, I'm going to speak to my daughter and find out what's going on, then I'll inform you," the old supreme elder declared before leaving the patriarch's office and proceeding towards his daughter's residence.
...
Meanwhile, Eduard stood in front of Elen, receiving the mission to transport the crystals for Minos to the Black Plain.
"You must travel quickly to resolve this. However, take someone with you as Dry City might want to get some orders from our region," Elen advised Eduard, who had already received a spatial ring containing all the crystals that were Minos' share.
After giving the instructions, Eduard departed. After a while, an elderly man entered through the front door of Elen's residence.
