At nine o’clock in the morning, Avery yawned and went to the main building to eat breakfast. The others seemed to have gone out, leaving only her and Maria. Maria was eating breakfast and talking on her phone. She didn’t even notice Avery had entered.

"Dwayne, are you really going to introduce me to a job?" Maria was surprised and touched. "I think it’s great to work at a salon. I can get in touch with many tasteful and fashionable customers and improve my design skills. I’m not afraid of hardship. I’m willing to do anything to learn and earn some money. Okay, thanks, Dwayne. You don’t have to pick me up. I’ll go out after breakfast. It’s a deal. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight."

Avery thought, Dwayne is already making a move so early in the morning? Even donkeys aren’t as diligent as him.

Since that was the case, she had to be more efficient. After Maria finished the call, Avery smiled and said, "Maria, I have nothing to do today. I’ll drive you to the interview and go shopping after."

Maria looked at Avery in surprise. "Avery, you’re wearing the latest style from luxury brands today, right?"

"Maria, Avery. These two glasses of fruit tea are for you. I just bought them and haven’t touched them."

Avery sensed that Dwayne was constantly stealing glances at her, probably analyzing which brands her outfit came from, how much they were worth, and how much money she had.

Maria didn’t have such keen observation skills, but she could tell Dwayne would look at Avery occasionally. She immediately hugged Avery’s shoulder proudly.

"Dwayne, isn’t my sister stunning? She looks like a fairy and is really nice."

Dwayne felt guilty for a moment and started sweating. "Yes. You always said Avery is good, so I couldn’t help but look at her. You didn’t exaggerate."

Avery pursed her lips and smiled. "It’s almost time for Maria’s interview, right? Let’s go. It’s better to be early than late."

Dwayne handed Avery a glass of fruit tea. "I’ll bring Maria for the interview. Avery, this fruit tea is for you."

Avery shook her head. "No, you can have it. I’m busy, so I’m going to go."

Avery was really busy. There were still a lot of decisions she had to make at Vission Group. It was Dwayne’s honor that she was willing to take the time to deal with him.

At four o’clock in the afternoon, Avery was busy working when she received Dwayne’s iMessage.

Dwayne sent a smiling emoji and texted:

[Avery, Maria passed the interview and learned how to wash and blow-dry. Everyone at the hair salon praised her for doing them well.]

Avery smiled and replied:

[Dwayne, you are so good to Maria. Do you like her?]

Dwayne responded with another smiling emoji and texted:

[Maria is diligent and kind. Of course, I like her. But don’t worry, I only treat her like a sister. I don’t ever think of dating her.]

Avery smiled.

[What kind of girl do you like, Dwayne? Maria said you are very popular with girls and female clients.]

Dwayne sent a "shy" emoji.

[No, it’s all a misunderstanding. I treat my clients and everyone around me the same. Because I am an excellent hairstylist, I’m serious and responsible to everyone. I will never date my clients. Clients of both genders like me.]

After that, Dwayne sent an emoji of him covering his face and added:

Soon after Avery rejected Dwayne, she received a call from Alexander. Alexander’s voice was as polite as ever.

"Miss Carter, I had wanted to look you up in a few days. However, I’ve encountered some technical difficulties and want to ask you for help. Let me know if it’s convenient for you."

Avery’s ears heated up when she heard Alexander’s magnetic and sexy voice. "S-Sure. Are you coming to look for me?"

"Yes, I’ll treat you to dinner tonight." Alexander’s voice was tinged with amusement. "I’ll take the helicopter to Rosemont City after work. I should be able to arrive before six in the evening. Is there anything you want to eat or can’t eat?"

Avery thought for a moment. "The weather is hot. Let’s not eat anything too flavorful. It’s best if it’s unique. Also, it’d be nice if the environment is quieter."

Alexander said, "Alright, got it. I’ll pick you up when I get to Rosemont City."

Avery replied, "Alright, I’ll wait for your... news."

Alexander was smiling. "Miss Carter, goodbye."

Avery touched her burning cheek. "Goodbye."

Seconds ticked by. There was silence on the phone. Neither of them hung up.

Finally, Alexander said, "My secretary told me that when I call a girl, I must let her hang up first. Otherwise, it will be rude."

Avery laughed out loud. "Alright, I’ll hang up first. Goodbye."

After that, she hung up the phone and stood up. She paced before the floor-to-ceiling window and even ate a small cake. Then, she patted her face and sat in front of the computer.

"Come on, let’s try to finish today’s work by six so I can go on a date." She paused and corrected, "Go out for a meal."

At six o’clock in the evening, Avery drove to the restaurant where Alexander had booked. She looked up at the sign on the wooden door. It read "Orion Signature Stone Barbecue."

"What a special name. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten anything like this," Avery spoke to herself.

Someone came up beside her. "I’ve eaten here a few times. It’s quite nice."

Avery turned to look at the newcomer. She pursed her lips and smiled. "You made it here so quickly."

Alexander had wanted to pick Avery up after arriving at Rosemont City. However, Avery felt that since she had a car, there was no need for him to make a detour, so she drove herself.

"Yeah. I hope I didn’t make you wait too long, Miss Carter."

Alexander looked at Avery and held his breath. Avery was wearing light makeup. Her hair was done up in a cute bun today. She wore a pink chiffon print dress and high heels. She looked sweet and girlish, like a fruit that had just ripened and smelled of temptation.

Alexander wondered if she had dressed up for him.
