The Return Of the Invincible Heiress -
Chapter 279
Chapter 279: Chapter 279
After saying that, Nicolas added, in disgust, "How could I have thought that she would still have such thoughts about me at such an old age?"
"If I knew what she was thinking, I would definitely have stayed far away from her and chased her away after Maggie’s accident so that she stayed away from me for the rest of her life!"
At this moment, everyone learned how heartless Valemont City’s most famous boy and scumbag was. Farrah didn’t even bother to scold him.
Loreen scrunched up her face and looked at her father as if he were a stranger.
Adele lowered her head so deeply that her forehead almost touched the edge of the table.
No one saw her expression. They only saw her shoulders move slightly. Her hands gripped her knees tightly, and her back was bent as if she were a hunchback.
Facing her, Alexander said coldly, "Are you still touched? Do you still want to be with him?"
Adele didn’t say anything, but her body trembled even more.
Alexander sneered. "You said this is your home and we are your family. Who do you think you are? How dare you treat us as your possessions and want to be with us for the rest of your life?"
Avery watched and listened in silence.
It was Alexander’s revenge.
In fact, Adele did not say in this recording how she had murdered Maggie. She only stated her motives and thoughts.
This recording was not enough evidence to prove that Adele had murdered Maggie.
However, what Alexander wanted now was not to send Adele to jail.
Adele was old. Going to jail or dying wouldn’t hurt her much. To her, the only thing that mattered was the "home" she believed she belonged to, especially Nicolas’s feelings for her.
Therefore, Alexander exposed Adele’s secret and ugly side to Nicolas. Nicolas’s disgust, rejection, and ruthlessness toward Adele were the greatest insults to her. She felt more shame and pain than death. That was the worst punishment for her.
Seeing that Adele did not speak, Alexander continued to insult her.
"I won’t send you to jail, nor will I publicize your crimes. I’ll just hand you over to my father and let him do whatever he wants to you."
After saying that, he turned to Nicolas. "Father, how do you plan to treat her?"
"What do I need her for?" Nicolas grabbed the chair and took a few steps back. He said in disgust, "She is old, ugly, and bad. I feel disgusted when she comes close to me."
His words couldn’t be crueler. Even Farrah and Loreen felt a chill in their hearts. They assumed Adele must wish she were dead now.
Adele suddenly laughed. She slowly raised her head. Her laughter was old and indifferent.
"I knew that no one would treat me well."
She picked up the cup in front of her and elegantly took two sips. She said calmly, "In this life, I have to live according to people’s wishes. When my masters no longer need me, I should leave."
Everyone noticed that her reaction was abnormally calm.
She drank coffee slowly and stared at Nicolas deeply. The corners of her mouth curled up slightly. Coupled with her shriveled lips and deep wrinkles, her smile became even stranger.
"Sir, I’ve lost what I value the most, and you’ll lose what’s most important to you. This is karma. It’s fair enough."
Nicolas had goosebumps all over his body from her gaze. He subconsciously took a few steps back with the chair and said in disgust, "What do you want to do now?"
Adele’s smile widened like a witch brewing poison. "Sir, you must have felt it too. You can’t even please your twenty-year-old lovers."
Nicolas’s expression changed drastically. He said in a trembling voice, "W... What are you talking about?"
Loreen looked confused. However, the others all realized something.
Alexander and Avery’s expressions remained calm, but Farrah smiled. It was an unexpected, mocking, and happy smile.
"Sir, you’ve been very well-behaved in the past six months. You rarely look for your lovers," Adele said with a smile. "You must be very afraid that your little lover will notice it, right? This is my compensation to Mrs. Moran."
At this point, even Loreen understood. Her mouth dropped open in shock.
"What did you do to me?" Nicolas was furious. He stood up and grabbed a small knife. He pointed it at Adele and shouted, "What did you do to me? Do you think I won’t kill you because you’re old? We have plenty of ways to take care of an old witch like you."
"For the past six months, I’ve been secretly drugging you," Adele said calmly, no longer trembling. "The chronic drug made you no longer a man. You’ll still have a good life. But you will never enjoy the girls anymore."
As she spoke, blood slowly flowed out of her mouth.
Loreen screamed in shock and jumped out of her chair to hide behind her mother.
"What’s wrong with her?" she yelled. "Why is there blood coming out of her mouth?"
"She took poison," Avery said calmly. "She must have secretly put it in the coffee."
"An ambulance then!" Loreen shouted. "Don’t just stand there. Call 911. No, call the ambulance!"
No one spoke.
"You vicious woman!" Nicolas pounced over. His upper body was almost pressed against the table. He reached out and grabbed Adele’s collar. He roared, "What did you drug me with? How can I be cured? If you don’t tell me, you are not dying. I’ll make you suffer..."
Adele’s thin body swayed from side to side as he shook her, but she didn’t struggle. She just looked at Nicolas calmly and smiled. More and more blood streamed from her mouth, as if she had vomited out her heart.
"Ah!" Loreen, who had never seen such a scene before, was so frightened that she lifted her dress and ran out screaming.
