Chapter 200: Chapter 200

The two of them held the umbrella and walked out of the house together. The crew, who were checking equipment and taking test shots on the field, were speechless. Though they were already used to seeing the two of them close to each other, they thought Jaden and Luna went a little too far today.

The director’s eyes lit up. He slapped his thigh excitedly. "Hurry up and take a photo of their backs with the telephoto!"

The photographer, very experienced, didn’t need the director’s reminder. He had already aimed his professional camera at their backs. When Luna was with Jaden, her state of mind was especially good. She had a natural, lively expression, an extremely vibrant charm in her eyes, and somehow became very photogenic—compelling even under the scrutiny of high-definition cameras and close-up shots.

The photographer didn’t go any closer, much less take a direct shot of Jaden. Jaden still didn’t like being on camera, but he was fine with showing his back and being shot from afar.

He and Luna walked through the vegetable field. Although it was winter, there were still plenty of vegetables growing—yams, asparagus, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and so on, all covered in white antifreeze bags. Not far away stood a few greenhouses, where tomatoes, chives, garlic sprouts, lettuce, and spinach thrived.

Luna felt happy every day seeing these vegetables. They seemed filled with vitality, contributing to the greenery. Then her body stiffened again. ’So, I’m green... like immature?’ She shook her head to dismiss the thought and asked Jaden, as usual, "What are we having tonight?" She raised her head slightly, her face expectant, looking exactly like a cute but hungry child crying, ’What are we having tonight?’

That tickled Jaden. "I’ll cook whatever you want," he replied.

Luna immediately said, "Broth! I want broth for dinner!"

Jaden nodded. "Alright, pick whatever you want to put into the broth."

Luna immediately squatted down and reached for the best-looking radish. "Pull out the radish! I want to pull out the radish! This fresh, yummy radish!"

In the past, she hadn’t liked radishes—they were a little bitter and bland to her. But the radishes grown by the Carter family were especially delicious, with no bitterness and a soft sweetness. Any soup or broth tasted fantastic with them added.

Luna had become a pro at spotting good-quality vegetables. At a glance, she could tell the radish she chose was the best—the most flavorful one.

Jaden bent down and took her hand. "Wear an extra pair of gloves." He pulled a pair of plastic gloves from his pocket. "Put them on."

Luna was already wearing thin velvet gloves. The plastic gloves Jaden gave her were larger and easily fit over them. She chuckled, put them on, and happily dug up the soil to pull out the radishes.

Jaden stood beside her, holding the umbrella. He didn’t help but watched as she worked. After pulling out the radish, Luna looked around but found nothing to carry it in. She patted off the soil and stuffed it into Jaden’s coat pocket.

Jaden didn’t protest, letting Luna do as she pleased as long as it made her happy. She pulled out another radish, then hooked her arm around Jaden’s. "Let’s go to the greenhouse to get some chives. We’ll make chive and cream cheese toast tonight."

About 600 feet away, Linda hid behind a few bare trees, observing them through binoculars, her heart filled with hatred and jealousy.

’There are only a few days left until Christmas. Why is that woman still here? The two of them have their arms hooked together, sharing an umbrella and picking vegetables like a couple. What an eyesore!’

’I simply can’t wrap my head around this. What’s so good about that skinny woman? She’s not even as pretty as Avery from Mid-Level Mountain Garden.’

A gust of cold wind blew, dropping snow on her. She shivered and clutched her fur coat tighter. Linda longed to return to her $400,000 Porsche for hot coffee—or better yet, to the Carter family’s old house for Jaden’s spring-water-brewed coffee. But if she showed herself, Jaden would chase her away.

Yet, she couldn’t bring herself to leave. It hadn’t been easy getting here.

Linda’s stepdaughter was in her third year of high school, her stepson in his first. Both lived in Hupool City, where she had to make their meals, help with homework, and ensure their grades stayed outstanding—conditions set in Bush’s will. She needed her stepdaughter in a good university and her stepson in a key high school to secure her inheritance.

Since September, she’d been stuck in Hupool City, unable to see Jaden. Only now, with the children at their grandmother’s for Christmas, could she return to Rosemont City and seek out Jaden and the Carter elders.

But the villagers said the old folks hadn’t returned. Without Fiona and Cade as her "guardian angels," she didn’t dare approach Jaden directly.

So she took the harder route: starting from the next village, crossing paddy fields, climbing desolate hills, and tramping through wasteland. It took nearly two hours just to see Jaden—only to find him walking romantically in the snow with Luna, shattering her heart.

’I have beauty, wealth, and a dead husband. The only thing I lack is a good man. No matter what, I won’t give up on Jaden! Otherwise, what was the point of enduring that old coot for so long?’

The more she thought, the more she hated the woman beside Jaden. ’I must find out everything about her and force her to leave him!’

She pulled out her high-end telephoto phone, zoomed in on Luna’s face, and snapped photo after photo.

Then she froze. ’Huh? This woman looks familiar. Where have I seen her before?’

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t remember. As the snow thickened and the cold grew unbearable, Linda whispered, ’Forget it. I’ll take more photos now and investigate later.’

She snapped dozens more before leaving, trembling.

Meanwhile, Luna stuffed vegetables into Jaden’s pockets and arms, smiling. "I’m going to start work soon. I’ll leave these to you."

Jaden smiled and handed her the oil-paper umbrella. "Alright. I’m going to cook now."
