The Return Of the Invincible Heiress -
Chapter 183
Chapter 183: Chapter 183
Avery thought, ’Zayn is really photogenic, right? He looks good from all angles. Even when the photo is taken from the side at a diagonal position below his face, his contours are smooth and well-defined, exuding a strong artistic vibe. Plus, not only does he look tall and slim in the photos, but his face appears smaller. He could totally be a model. I took so many pictures, and not a single one is a waste—they can all be used. It’s just incredible...’
While Avery was admiring these photos, Jaden could no longer hold on. He dropped the punching bag and went easy on himself. He held onto the pillar of the pavilion with both hands, panting as he said, "I—I can’t take it anymore. Take your time practicing."
Zayn also stopped, draping a towel over his shoulders. "You rest for a while," he said. "I’ll take a shower first. Avery, you worked hard this morning. Have a good rest too."
Avery nodded. "Once you’re done showering, I’ll drive you around Rosemont City."
Zayn had initially intended to help out at the restaurant today, but Claire wouldn’t allow it. She ordered him to rest for a few days and at least explore Rosemont City to see how it had changed. So, Avery took the initiative to drive Zayn around.
But just as they were about to head out an hour later, Jaden received a call. After finishing the call, he frowned and said to Avery, "It was Lindsey, Luna’s assistant. She said Luna started her period yesterday. Last night, Luna was in so much pain that she rolled around in bed. After taking painkillers, she felt even worse and needed to see a doctor. But it’s not convenient for them to go to the county hospital, so they could only come to Rosemont City to find a trusted private doctor. She might have to recuperate for more than ten days before she can go back."
He hesitated before continuing, "I asked a few more questions. Lindsey said this is Luna’s chronic issue—her period either doesn’t come for two to three months, or when it does, it lasts for two to three weeks. Medicine can only relieve it, not cure it."
Jaden paused before asking, "I want to know if it would be okay for you to ask that skilled Dr. Annie to check on Luna?"
Avery smiled. "I can check on Luna myself. Just tell me where she is, and I’ll go right now."
Jaden didn’t dwell on whether Avery could treat patients. He simply smiled. "Thank you."
An hour later, Avery met Luna at an upscale private clinic. Luna was lying on the bed, looking weak. Her face was pale, clearly suffering from severe menstrual pain.
Avery didn’t waste time. She assessed Luna’s condition, diagnosed her on the spot, reviewed her medical reports, and then prescribed a treatment plan.
"Follow this prescription," she said. "Stick to the dietary and lifestyle requirements, and keep your mood relaxed. I guarantee that from next month onward, your period will come and go on time. After three treatment courses, your cycle will normalize, and your issues with anemia, insomnia, and hair loss will also improve."
Luna was hesitant about Avery’s medical skills, but since this was a kind gesture from Jaden and his sister, she accepted it with a mindset of giving it a try. "Thank you. I’ll do my best to stick to it."
Avery saw through her thoughts and smiled. "I’ll prepare the medicine for you now. Take it in two doses and see the effect tomorrow."
The results were remarkable. After drinking the medicine, Luna felt much more at ease—her abdominal pain had lessened, and she slept well that night. When she woke up the next morning, she could get out of bed, walk around, and even eat a bowl of oatmeal and a boiled egg.
Lindsey clicked her tongue in amazement. "This prescription is incredibly effective. Luna, maybe your chronic issue can really be cured."
Luna was equally surprised. "I didn’t expect Avery to have such amazing medical skills at such a young age. It’s unbelievable."
She touched her belly and sighed regretfully. "It’s a pity that I’m stuck here and can’t eat the dishes from Jaden and the Carter family’s restaurant..."
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Luna turned and was delighted to see Jaden standing there, holding a three-tier thermal food container.
"I know you haven’t had much of an appetite," he said with a smile, "so I made your favorite strained yogurt and some side dishes. Let me know what you want to eat in the next few days, and I’ll make it for you."
Luna looked at him, her eyes slightly teary. "Thank you..."
She wanted to say things like ’"You’re so kind to me," "You know me well," "I needed you, and you showed up,"’ or ’"How can I thank you?"’—but she couldn’t bring herself to say any of it. Instead, she silently savored the meal Jaden had brought her, her heart full of gratitude.
True to his word, Jaden brought her food every day, and Luna finished every bite. Three days later, her complexion improved, and her period was nearly over. She was ready to be discharged.
Still, Jaden wasn’t entirely at ease, so he brought Avery to check on her again.
Avery assessed Luna and nodded. "There’s nothing serious. You can be discharged, but you must continue taking the medicine."
Luna, now fully impressed, assured her, "Don’t worry. My assistant has already made a schedule. I’ll remember to take it every day."
At that moment, someone else arrived to visit Luna—Tommy and the cinematographer. Since the movie revolved around the female lead, the crew had been on break while Luna recovered.
When Tommy heard she was being discharged, he said, "Our crew has plenty of time. Why don’t you rest for a few more days?"
Luna shook her head. "I can’t hold back the entire crew because of me. Besides, I want to continue filming. I don’t want to just lie here uselessly."
"As expected of Luna!" the cinematographer said, giving her a thumbs-up. "Unlike that young guy who’s fit and strong but can’t handle any hardship. He stood Quirky Steve up at the last minute, making it impossible for him to continue filming his movie. Steve is now scrambling to find a replacement."
Luna was shocked. "Someone actually gave up on Mr. Levine’s movie?"
"Tell me about it!" the cinematographer ranted. "According to the contract, that guy was supposed to be on set for two months, with one month dedicated to military training—but he quit after just a week, claiming he was ’unwell.’ The truth? He went to film a romance drama instead."
Avery’s curiosity was piqued. Quirky Steve—real name Steve Levine—was a renowned director, famous for his action-packed films: self-defense, gunfights, police procedurals, and more. As a screenwriter, she couldn’t help but ask, "With Mr. Levine’s reputation, plenty of actors would jump at the chance. How can’t he find a replacement?"
