Chapter 98: My Tsundere Witch Wife Can’t Be This Cute at Dawn
The sun’s heated gaze burrowed into the frozen forest as Adrei’s eyes fluttered open. The smooth ’ice mattress’ glittered across her shimmering gold scales against the glazed sunlights that now hung on the horizon.
She turned over to the Witch, her eyes set ablaze at the sight of not just the smooth back, but the little marks on her neck. The Dragon Queen smiled, her scaled frame gliding across the distance to the witch before planting another kiss over the mark.
As she chuckled at the Witch’s shuttering, the Witch slurred a grump before slopping her shoulders over, her droopy eyes staring at the blue sky before darting to meet her husband’s smile.
"Good morning, my love." The Dragon once again kissed the Witch’s tired eyes, who whined in response.
"You should allow me to sleep more in peace, shouldn’t you?" The Witch pouted against the Dragon’s knowing smirk.
"Oh, so that means you were awake when I first kissed your neck, weren’t you?"
An annoyed hmph was puffed from the Witch’s puffy cheek as she turned her head to the pond. "There isn’t much to hide. Of course, I was awake."
"Mhm, and how do you feel?" The Dragon’s fingertip slid over the Witch’s back, and Demond hummed a sigh. "Shall we make this a tradition then? Next time, being on the lips instead?"
"Not." The Witch’s smoothness of the instant denial was only matched by her swiftness as she leaned into Adrei’s pillows again. "It’s not that I don’t like it. But this old man still had some pride left to spare, unfortunately for you."
"Oh, does that mean I have to try harder for me to surpass even that pride, then?" Adrei cupped the blushing cheeks as the Witch squinted her icy gaze.
"Perhaps. If you start conjuring an actual wedding ring, I’ll start to consider it.
"Oh, is that a challenge?" Adrei tilted her head just as the Witch attempted to nuzzle off the palm on her face. "I can immediately fly for the collesium to snatch up some gems, you know?"
"Didn’t Alice destroy your home last time?"
"Artifact Gems were not so easily destroyed, my love." Adrei chuckled as she pulled the Witch’s head for a forehead kiss. "Or do you have a particular gem in mind, Demond?"
"None whatsoever." The Witch sighed again, her strength now given out to the finger tapping away at her face like a keyboard. Can you find one in the Infinite Dungeon?
"Perhaps so..." Adrei’s contemplatory tone droned, as she secretly stamped the final goal in the destination.
"Regardless." The Witch stretched her limbs in Adrei’s embrace before loosening the hug and standing up, her bareness glittering across the sun’s shroud. "Shall we now head off? 556 won’t wait for us to pay for the Cookie Fees we still owe her, you know?"
"So we shall." The Dragon chortled as she stood, her fingertip cradling the air before ashes enveloped both her and the witch. In an instant, fabric weaved and ashes coiled as glowy dusts before both of their robes now veiled their bare bodies.
"And with this..." With a click of a finger, a familiar witch’s hat was swirled into being from the ashes, before the Dragon’s tender hand settled it atop the silver locks. "We are ready to set off."
"Yeah."
"...?"
The Dragon frowned as the Witch dazedly stared without any hint of thought.
Then the Witch’s brows mirrored her frown, as if to perfectly mimic her husband’s hesitation and confusion, before merely huffing.
"Well, I guess once or twice might not be bad."
"Hmm?"
The Dragon Queen, however, could not answer, as the Witch tiptoed and suddenly pecked her lips. The icy moistness and the refreshing sweetness lingered like the world’s sweetest poison, as you crave for more of what you can’t receive, before the Witch turned around and walked away from the startled Adrei.
"Let’s go now, Adrei."
Noting how the blush now reached the Witch’s ears, Adrei’s lips could only curl up at her wife’s ’sincere insincerity’ before following her bare footsteps, again trailing frosted paths like usual.
"Shall we do one more, then, as you suggested?"
"Get ahead of yourself, and your forehead will get batted by my staff as an alarm clock."
The new journey, as always, started with a banter, a bicker, a Witch’s utter embarrassment, and a Dragon’s adoring chuckle.
---------------------
As the duo left the fresh winds of the ethereal forest, the Witch stretched herself as they entered a massive hay yard, her feet stuttering as her brows raised, waiting, waiting, and more waiting.
"What’s wrong, Demond?"
The silvery brows’s flickering of doubts were not remissed by her husband, as Demond who flicked her hesitation off with a mere frown.
"The iced birds, Adrei." Demond hummed. "They seemed to disappear around an area. Or rather, their bodies were...changed? Or melt into something else."
"Hm? One of Coriel’s tricks perhaps?" The Dragon’s scale kindled steams, ready to plow through the fields just to claw away the betrayer’s life.
"Not exactly. If the bird disappeared, that is equivalent to telling them they are at the place where the tracker disappeared, and I would have been notified by then." The Witch tilted her head. "So how do I say it...ah, it feels more like my trackers were clashing with something else?"
"Clashing? Then it is a barrier magic?"
"Something like that, but also not quite."
Then the Witch and the Dragon finally parted open the fields, only to reveal something entirely...unexpected.
Fogs, one similar to the one conjured by Demond, yet completely different by nature. Demond closed her eyes immediately as she stretched her hand, the urgency tingling in the war veteran’s sense as her mana tendrils now scouted within the fog.
"Ah ha. I see what this is."
Her gaze turned and burrowed into the Adrei’s amber eyes, as a resolute assurance glinted from the icy diamonds.
"The foundation, or the structure of my mana was completely bent, by whatever is beyond this fog."
