The Reborn Witch had a nice 'Tea Time' with the Dragon Queen today
Chapter 119: Indirect Kiss? We Have Gone Way Past That!

Chapter 119: Indirect Kiss? We Have Gone Way Past That!

"What a wonderful day outside the Dungeon!"

Celeste stretched wide at the sun atop her head, noon just arriving in time for lunch.

Demond glanced behind her, the large abyssal tear stretching again in her vision, her heart welling up with a profound uneasiness.

If not for the scaled hand still holding hers in silence, that unease would have overwhelmed her in grief and ashen memories.

Surprisingly, circumventing the back isn’t difficult. Each floor’s Dungeon had simulated a portal hidden somewhere for the adventurers to find and exit.

Or if you defeat the boss, the portal in the starting area will open again, leading straight to other floors or outside, depending on where your thoughts are directed.

"Convenient... but also meant there’s no way out unless you find the hidden portal or defeat the boss, huh?"

"Absolutely!" Celeste swung her arms in excitement. "Well, we sorta breeze through the floor, but also hidden are some treasures scattered here and there, as well as the boss weapon, corpses, and sometimes even Dwarven Artifacts!"

"Dwarven Artifacts?"

"Mhm. Usually, when we call an artifact, it’s a weapon of some kind, like a Sword and whatnot. We’re still sorta at 10F, so this may change!"

Hopefully, without the Tyrant’s flames lurking behind any of it. Demond sighed inward before marching on, the other three following.

"What’s the daily casualty rate, Celeste?"

"Casualty... hm, it was recorded by the Governor, so even I am unsure."

"Guess we’ll have to trouble Setra again, or the Shadow Tribe."

Greeting the guards who signed the adventurers in with records, Demond and others finished their first expedition.

In the buzzling street where working hour is still busy, Celeste ran ahead of the three to buy the ’snacks-before-dinner’.

Adventurers’ must-have, she said. The stalls always have good business thanks to the influx of them into the town.

"991."

Demond called out to the white-haired Android, now hooded once again to hide her ears and features.

"Do you sense anything... different when you entered the Dungeon?"

991 grasped her chin, before shaking her head.

"I’m afraid my erased database is insufficient provide an answer. If there’s one..."

"...the hidden boss Celeste mentioned, right?"

The Android stared amusedly at the black-haired girl, now haggling price with a vendor without her spear, looking as intimitading as a hamster.

"The hidden boss... is an anamoly in the Dwarven Designs for a Dungeon."

The Android’s tone heavied, unlike the victory giggles Celeste had with each groan of the vendor.

"From what little my sisters could recall to me, our Dwarven forefathers were stubborn in their traditions. Steels over flesh, and this rule has been respected even after they have been all... massacred by the Sky Dragons."

Demond noticed how 991 clutched onto her cloak, as if hating the indifference spewed from her mouth when talking about their forefathers.

"As the ruler of the current Tamara Draconic Empire, I take sole responsibility, 991."

The Peacekeeper Adrei’s waist bent for a light bow, only for the Android to shake her head.

"Please do not apologise. My sisters have insisted the current ruler was more... tolerable than the last. It would seem they have underrestimated your genorosity, Miss Adrei."

"..."

Adrei merely kept silent as she raised her head, the sincerety apparent in her eyes.

"I don’t intend to escape responsibility for what my kins and I have done under the rule of my Father."

Adrei’s scales heated up, the anger for her families she slaughtered with her own hands still resting deep in her soul.

"However, I would not like to trouble you with any of our emotional baggages. So for now, would you please accept this apology, 991?"

The Android’s flat expression wavered, before shaking her head in denial.

"That’s..."

The hands that clutched on the cloak tightened.

"...not for me to decide. I no longer have the right to."

Demond furrowed at the Android’s stress, as Adrei’s brows raised knowingly, a kindness embedding in her draconic gaze.

"Very well. I vowed to never mention this matter again until you desire."

"...thank you. Miss Adrei."

"Oi!"

Demond’s eyes curved upon observing how the Andorid’s hands loosened for a certain voice, intruding the heavy atmosphere like a spear.

Chuckling, she faced the hopping Celeste who was holding four dried frog skewers.

"Try this! Local town’s favourite. It paired well with the ales afterwards!"

The lush, fat meat skewers paired with spices, with four legs sprawling and dripping oils of their own.

The former Old Mage gulped at the sight. She used to be repulsed by food such as this, but has grown to love it in the Village working days, and her adventurer’s experience.

"I’ll take the meal."

The Witch took the skewer which Celeste eagerly offered, before peeking at Adrei’s smirk beside her.

Grumbling a little, she held out a skewer for the Dragon to bite into, watching as the oil sap squeezed between the Dragon’s teeth.

"A delightful meal."

"...if not for you stealing my share."

Celeste blinked as the scowling Witch bit into the spot where the Dragon tasted. An intentional indirect kiss? How bold.

Her pupil darted at the three skewers, then to the Android whose eyes never left her hand, as if analysing the textures of the oily flesh.

"Interested?"

Smirking, she seperated two skewers to her right hand before offering it to the Android. "Here. My treat!"

991 jolted a little at the cheeky maiden, before squinting.

"Are you sure this is your first time interacting with a female friend, subject?"

The Android admired the girl’s flustered look before taking the skewers.

"Boo-hoo! Shut it, will you? I at least got more experience than Uncle Demond over there!"

"Oi brat."

"What? Just because you got a hus...or wife? Just because you got a Dragon wife doesn’t change that, you know?!"

Celeste slipped her tongue out, which Demond rolled her eyes in response as she took another bite on the skewer.

"Ah come to think of it."

Admiring how the Android nipped at the meat, the monotone silvery eyes finally glistening, the black-haired girl turned to the Dragon.

"I never asked. What’s your name, Miss beautiful Dragon?"

Adrei turned to the black-haired girl, a slight confused frown occuring to her.

"Adrei."

"Just... Adrei?"

"Mmm. Just Adrei."

The Dragon nodded without hesitation. "I have abandoned my surname a long time ago."

"Ah I see. Adrei Adrei... I’ll remember-"

Celeste’s lips shutted, before shuddering a cold sweat creeping upwards at her spine.

"Uh... Miss Adrei..."

"Hm? What is it?"

Sensing what circumstance this is, Demond’s lips curled up devilishly before eating her snack to enjoy the good show forward.

"Um... perhaps my ears have mistaken me, or I haven’t read enough history to know but..."

Celeste’s eyes burrowed into the draconic gaze. "Could you be... the Peacekeeper Adrei? The one who fought alongside the Hero in the Human-demon War?"

"Indeed."

"..."

Demond held back laughing at Celeste’s mouth gaping wide, as if the most shocking incident possible has occured to her.

"Subject."

991, chewing the frog meat in small nips, gulped and asked gently. "Could you not have known this whole time... that Miss Demond is married to the Dragon Queen?"

"I-of course I know! Ha-hahahaha...."

Celeste’s eyes looked away, the picture of innocent stupidity. "I mean Adrei is not a common name around here, but I thought it would be otherwise for the Dragons. Mm. That must be it. I totally, totally knew Uncle Demond suddenly became a Royalty overnight."

"Subject."

"Bu-but can you really blame me? I woke up from being drunk one day, and then Uncle Demond suddenly strolled up with two women, and she herself looked like a Witch from a fairytale!"

"Subject Celeste."

"What?!"

"...pft."

"Oi! Stop laughing! Stand in my circumstance and think for a second!"

"No... but Subject..."

991 desperately clentched her lips, the skewers in her hand dangling side-by-side. "I may have reaccess your intellegence level. Subject Celeste is, without a doubt, dumber than I imagined..."

"Eat your damn skewers, alright? Do you stilll want a date with me, you-you...meanie?"

"...what a cute response."

"You!"

Amused at the unexpected bonding at the two elven figures, Demond had a strange sensation in her chest.

"Why do I have a feeling like Celeste grew up a bit?"

And since when did those two become so close?

Curiosity tugged her mind, but not as much as the chin that now rested on her head.

Demond chuckled as she raised her skewer, the Dragon’s teeth sinking into the meat as if they have done this for years.

At the next corner of the street, two pairs of emerald and red eyes, the former fascinated while the latter cautious, sneakily stared at such a heart-warming sight, their ears being echoed with Celeste’s grumbles and the Android’s indifferent snark.

"They seem to be fine."

"Is this... really the time for your observation?"

"Yes. We must ensure they’re out of the Dungeon after all."

Coriel’s lips curled up to a graceful smile before turning away.

"Let us move now. The Tyrant’s Flame awaits."
