The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 71 - 70
Chapter 71: Chapter 70
I responded with a curt "yes," then hung up and sent my location to Jones five minutes later, a black Benz pulled up by the road. Jones wasn’t one to chase the high life. Also, being a doctor now, driving a flashy car to work seemed a bit off. But with this guy, even if he were to ride the most ordinary bicycle, he could still attract a lot of female attention. "Get in, Jones rolled down the window and told me. "Where to?" I was a bit clueless. "To pick up Bonny from your home." He was always worried about his pet. I smirked a little, opened the passenger door and hopped in. Jones glanced at me, "Seatbelt." I silently buckled up. Due to the snowy weather, the roads were slippery and we were driving slow. I was gazing out the window, but my mind was replaying the scene of Damon and Ariel in the snow. On the road, Jones broke the silence, "Ariel and the rest have applied for a ward change." "I know." I didn’t want to talk about Damon and Ariel at the moment, even though they were all I could think about. "I’ll be the one performing Ariel’s dad’s surgery, " Jones said. If he were to be a spy, he would definitely be top-notch. I grabbed my phone and transferred him some money. After seeing his phone light up, he looked confused, "What’s this about?" I deliberately let out a sly smile, "Dr. Jones, could you do me a favor when you operate on Ariel’s dad? If successful, I’ll send you a pretty penny!" Just then, the traffic light turned red. The car came to a stop. Jones grabbed his phone, quickly refunding my transfer and then scolded me seriously, "Stop watching those overly dramatic TV shows! What are you thinking?"
"How do you know my idea came from a TV show?" I asked, surprised. "What else?" Jones looked at me as if I were an idiot. I snorted coldly and ignored him. When we got back to Starlight Estates, Bonny saw his master return and happily jumped into Jones’s arms, purring in delight.- The housekeepers had taken good care of him in the past few days. He seemed to be in good spirits. Jones was holding Bonny and petting its head, ready to say something to me when we heard a man’s voice from upstairs. Damon was home. I didn’t want to see Damon, so I left Jones and went upstairs. As for what those two men talked about in the living room, I had no idea. They were old pals, so catching up shouldn’t have been awkward. In the spacious master bedroom, I tossed and turned in bed. On one hand, Damon and Ariel’s affair was bothering me, on the other hand, I was worried about Monica. Then Luna sent me a message, "Eliana, Monica is about to take the bait!" I was startled and quickly replied, "So soon? How did you manage that?" Luna sent a "smug" gif and replied, "Hehe, I’ll tell you in a couple of days. Wait for my good news." She stopped replying after that, as if she was really planning something big to surprise me. I didn’t ask anymore. Luna might be impulsive, but she was smart. I wasn’t sure if the private investigator I hired had started working yet. I opened my email inbox and there was no reply from the detective. Instead, there was a blocked message. I clicked to view it. Among the seven or eight blocked unread messages, there was one from an unfamiliar number. After reading the content, I found out it was from Nicholas. I didn’t expect him to still keep in touch. The latest message was sent this afternoon. I hesitated for a moment and decided to call him. He picked up quickly. "Hello? Is this Ms. Eli? Nicholas’s voice was quite pleasant, very gentle, and he spoke politely.
"Yes. I saw you sent me several messages. Do you need something?" I asked. "Not really I wasn’t sure if you got home safely that night, so I texted you, but you didn’t reply. I didn’t want to bother you by calling directly." Nicholas explained, a bit embarrassed. I chuckled, "Thank you for your concern. I made it home safely that night. Your messages got blocked by the system, so I just saw them today." Nicholas paused for a few seconds and suddenly said in a helpless and annoyed tone, I knew it would be like this. I’m going to change my number tomorrow!" I didn’t understand what he meant, so he told me. He had been a salesman for a long time and made too many sales calls. His number had been flagged as a spam number. He’d been to the telecom service center several times to remove the mark, but his number would soon be marked as spam again. To be honest, this reason made me burst out laughing. Hearing me laugh, Nicholas also laughed. I was so engrossed in the call that I didn’t notice Damon had walked into the room. He suddenly spoke, "Who are you chatting with so happily?" . I immediately hung up and hid my phone under the pillow. This action definitely aroused Damon’s suspicion. His face darkened, like the stormy sky before a thunderstorm, filled with unsettling pressure. "Is it Joshua again?" Damon had already made his way to the edge of the bed. He lifted my blanket and reached under the pillow to take my phone. "This is my private matter!" I grabbed his wrist. His sleeves rolled up, revealing his well-defined arm. Damon looked thin when he was dressed, but he was actually quite muscular. Trying to stop him was quite risky. If it was a physical fight, I would definitely lose. After I grabbed his wrist, Damon seemed even more upset. He easily grabbed my wrist with just a bit of force. I immediately raised my other hand to hit him. Ever since that night when we fought and wrestled for most of the night, I found this method greatly relieved my anger. Damon quickly caught my other hand. I instantly became his prisoner. "Damon, we made a deal not to interfere in each other’s personal lives. I’m warning you, if you ever try to hit me, I’ll fight you hard!" I stared fearlessly into his icy eyes, striving to keep my cool. "I don’t hit women," Damon said coldly. And that was true. In our past, even when things got so tense it was like do or die, he never laid a hand on me. On the contrary, so mad that I’d want to deck him the minute I saw him. The most he’d do was shove me away. "Well then, let go of me," I said, trying to wiggle free from his grip. was me who would get Seeming to realize he may have overstepped, Damon let go of me. With my freedom regained, I sat up. My tone was calm again, but tinged with a hint of sadness, "Damon, what am I to you, really? Can you tell me?"
