Chapter 67: Chapter 66

"Mom, we’ve already taken it." I tried to shake off some inappropriate images from my head to avoid blushing unintentionally.

Lisa seemed skeptical, "Really?"

So, I detailed the whole process of getting the medicine, changing it, and taking it, every word truthful, to reassure her.

However, I didn’t tell her about the intimate acts between Damon and me.

"That’s good, just keep it up for a while, you will definitely give birth to a healthy baby." Lisa showed a smile, and suddenly added, "It would be even better if it’s a girl."

Sometimes I really found Lisa likable. She was considerate of others’ feelings, afraid of hurting mine.

It was weird, after rebirth, I found Ariel really beautiful, Lisa really cute, even Jones, the cold man, I discovered his warm side, and Damon, he’d changed alot too.

If this continues, will things get out of control?

"Eliana, don’t stress yourself, let nature take its course with the baby. We sometimes can’t help but mention wanting grandchildren, don’t take it to heart." Seeing me in a daze, Lisa thought I was worried about the whole baby thing.

I shook my head repeatedly, "Mom, I’m not worrying about it, of course, I hope to have a baby soon too."

Actually, that was not the case, I absolutely can’t have a child with Damon, otherwise, I might continue this hopeless marriage for it. A child with a father who had another woman in his heart won’t be happy.

After I divorce Damon, Ariel will help me fulfill Damon dad and Lisa’s wish, so there was no rush.

After chatting for a while, we went downstairs, Damon was back in the living room, amusing his nephew. He lifted the toddler onto his shoulders, holding onto his little hands making flying gestures, running back and forth; the child’s laughter was adorable.

I was a bit dazed, as if I could see what Damon would look like as a father. He seemed to enjoy being around children and would probably be a good dad. But, he was not going to be the father of my child.

"Let’s go shopping." Lisa pulled me and a few other women to go shopping.

As for the little nephew, he was left to the men at home.

I volunteered to drive, Lisa in the passenger seat and the others in the back, but there was one seat short, so an aunt followed in her own car.

Five women headed out together, Lisa chatted with the others along the way, suddenly she seemed to find something, so she bent down to pick it up from under the seat. I took a glance, it was an earring. It was delicate, but you could tell it wasn’t expensive.

Lisa looked at the bracelet.

She said nothing but put on my hands. I was wearing diamond studs today, worth around $13,000, completely different in texture from that bracelet in her bag. This was Damon’s car, and she knew what was going on.

Lisa was not particularly fond of foreign luxury brands; she preferred high–end domestic brands, as their designs suited her taste. The aunts were also around her age, preferring ring mature styles, so I accompanied them to some domestic brand stores.

I sat on the couch, sipping coffee while watching the models. Though they were younger than Lisa, their figures were similar, they wore dignified and elegant clothes for Lisa and the aunts to choose from.

"Please bring me that coat." Suddenly, Lisa spotted a snow–white coat. The collar was also white fox fur, and it looked very warm. The buttons were gemstone round buttons, with an elastic waist, it looked both elegant and grand.

I thought Lisa was buying it for herself, but she made me try it on after she got it, "You’ll look great in it."

I didn’t refuse, and took off my own coat and put on the one Lisa liked. The snow–white, soft fox fur made my face look smaller and the tightened waist accentuated my figure. I was even amazed by my reflection in the mirror.

"You look great in it." Lisa looked at

"Thanks." I replied with a smile, her face full of smiles.

Afterward, they continued to shop in other stores. While waiting for them, I took a selfie and posted it on Facebook: "The coat Lisa bought for me, do you like it? I love it."

I really liked it, just not sure if Ariel would like it.

Surprisingly, the first one to comment was Jones: "Not bad, where’s my Bonny?"

I replied: "Don’t worry, Bonny is well taken care of at home."

Jones: "That’s good, don’t let him eat too much, he’s a bit greedy."

I replied with an OK hand emoji,

Jones: "Where’s Damon?"

Seeing more and more comments, I was speechless, so I messaged Jones privately: "Do you have to chat with me in the comments? If Damon sees this, he might give me a hard time."

Jones: What’s the difference?"

I laughed: "What’s the difference between bathing at home and bathing on the street?"

Jones didn’t reply anymore, and when I checked Facebook again, his comments were deleted.

"Eliana, let’s go home, I’m tired from shopping." Lisa finally finished shopping and said to me full of satisfaction.

"Okay." I put away my phone, took the shopping bags from Lisa, and followed them out.

When we got home, it was already late.

It’s been a while since I’ve shopped like today. When I went out with Luna and others, we usually went straight to our destination, and we rarely walked.

So, my legs were a bit sore, so I planned to sleep after a shower. Just as I was about to sleep, I heard Damon answering the phone, his voice deep and gentle: "It’s okay, I’ll handle it."

Then the sound of the door opening. I suddenly woke up, ran to the balcony, and saw Damon’s car lights turn on, disappearing into the snowy night.

Damon’s dad and Lisa probably didn’t know Damon left in the middle of the night. it was quiet. My phone started ringing. It was a message from Damon: "I have something to deal with. You stay here for a few more days, and I’ll come to pick you up."

Judging by his tone on the phone, I guess it might be something about Ariel. Looking at the message, my feelings were indescribable. He was not giving me the cold shoulder like he used to in my past life anymore. He dropped me a message, hinting he’d got some feelings for me. But then he was up in the wee hours, all worried about another girl.

While my thoughts were all over the place, Joshua pinged me with a message: "That dress looks really good."

It lightened me up quite a bit, I shot back: "Haha, thanks for the compliment."

Joshua: "It’s not a compliment, it really looks good. Eliana, don’t you realize how beautiful you are?"

Checking out Joshua’s reply, I didn’t reply right away. Instead, I popped open my camera and took a good long look at myself. Yup, I was pretty cute. Born this way or molded by my environment, I didn’t think I was second to anyone.

Except for when I was around Damon, I tended to feel a little inferior. It was because he didn’t love me, and I ended up feeling like I was not enough.

A few minutes later, I replied to Joshua: I’m like a goddess, thanks for the compliment.

Joshua sent me an emoji laughing its head off, which made me chuckle as well. After chatting for a bit, I couldn’t fight off sleep any longer and knocked out.

"Eliana, Eliana?" In the morning, I heard Lisa calling me from beyond my door.

"What’s up?" I asked sleepily.

"Is Damon in the room? His car’s gone missing and he’s not answering his phone." Lisa asked loudly.

I glanced at my phone – it was nearly nine in the morning. Damon must have gone back to the city early, just didn’t tell his dad and Lisa about it. Yawning, I got out of bed, threw on a coat and opened the door to see Lisa standing there.

"Mom, he had some urgent work stuff to deal with, and he left last night. I made up an excuse for Damon.

"So that’s what happened, no wonder he didn’t pick up the phone." Lisa seemed a bit doubtful but nodded, "Alright then, you better get up and eat something, don’t starve yourself."

"Okay, I’ll get dressed and be right down," I answered.

Once Lisa left, I went back to my room and messaged Damon about my conversation with Lisa. Then I changed and went downstairs for breakfast. Damon’s other relatives had already left the night before. Only I was still there. His dad was at work, so it was just me, Lisa, and a few servants.

We chatted about this and that, sipped the soup, and then Damon texted me back: hmm, I see.

"Eliana, if Damon ever treats you badly or

punched on fresh bread. It was pure bliss.

even a "thanks," how rude. I didn’t want to reply anymore.

She had never spoken to me like this before. Would you tell me, okay? Don’t worry, I’m no pushover," Lisa said seriously after breakfast.

In my past life. Even when she opposed Damon being with Ariel, she would only hint subtly for the sake of me.

It was all because of my stupidity. From the beginning, my relationship with Damon was arranged by both families. In a way, His dad and Lisa were always happy with me as their daughter–in–law. If only I was

smarter, more attentive to them, they would have sided with me, easing the tension between Damon and me.

In the past, I didn’t understand this. I thought that as long as I won Damon’s heart, I would win over the entire Whitmore family. But because I failed to build a good relationship with Damon’s dad and Lisa, they could only....

"Mom, Damon’s been a lot better lately, don’t worry," I replied, "I’m sorry for making you and dad worry so much."

"No, the one who’s making us worry is that rascal Damon." Lisa quickly corrected me, "Eliana, the reason your dad and I wanted to match you with Damon was because you’re different from other girls."

I was taken aback. Lisa sighed and continued, "Damon’s always been popular with girls, which worried us a lot as he grew up. He’s always surrounded by a bunch of women, some from decent families. But you’re the only one who’s stayed by his side without changing for five years. Your dad and I saw it all. We know just how lucky Damon is to have you."

I continued to stare at Lisa, at a loss for words.

Lisa patted my hand with a warm smile, "Eliana, when your dad and I wanted you to become our daughter–in–law, it was because we liked you, not just for some benefits, you know?"

I stumbled over my words, choking back tears. All I could do was nod, "I know."

I wish I knew this before. Maybe then I wouldn’t have ever really touched his heart. But luckily, Damon’s dad and Lisa saw everything.

Because Lisa truly liked me, our time together under the same room,

It’d been three days. Jones had been texting me every day to check if I had the entire Coleman family. I’d been quietly following Damon for all these years, I just didn’t know when Damon was going to come

I replied to him/irritably, "What do you think my servants are? Cat abusers? One back yet, worried that my servants wouldn’t take good care of Bonny.

Jones: "Not like that, I just think you’d take care of it better."

I was speechless and sent a "goodbye" emoji before tossing my phone Side."

While I was lying on the couch, listless, my mom called. I picked up the phone like usual

She was silent for a few seconds before I heard her choked sobs, "Eliana, can you come home"

My heart clenched. I had a bad feeling about this. "What happened?"

I cheerfully said, "Mom, miss me?"

Come back for a bit?"

"What is going on?" I asked Mom

"Just come back first. Your dad and I are waiting for you at home." Mom didn’t answer my question

Without wasting time to call back and ask, I found Lisa and asked her to arrange a driver to drive me back home.

Lisa asked what happened, but I didn’t go into details, just said there was an emergency at home and I needed to go back right away. She didn’t ask any more questions and arranged a ride to send me home right away. Before I left, she said to me, "Eliana, feel free to ring me up anytime if you need anything.

"Alright." I said sitting in the car, nodding heavily.

After a few hours’ drive, I was back home. I saw my parents sitting in the living room. The atmosphere was tense and gloomy, and I could occasionally hear sobbing. On the living room table, a pile of photos were scattered. I walked over to take a look and my expression changed instantly,

The photos were of my dad and another woman, looking cozy in a hotel room. They were lying on the same bed, covered with a blanket, but their upper bodies were exposed.

My dad looked ashen, sitting there motionless.

"Now that Eliana is back, explain it to her." My mom wiped her tears and said to my dad through gritted teeth.

"Dad, what’s going on?" The shock hit me as hard as it did my mom.

In my mind, my parents were the most loving couple on earth and my dad had never done anything unfaithful. They were my relationship role models and I firmly believed that I could win Damon over and live a happy life with him because of them..
