The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 55
Chapter 55: Chapter 55
"We didn’t play you. That’s too much; you think I dare to betray you?" I explained, "When Cherry came to work at my place, you didn’t even know Ariel. I’m not a fortune teller. How could I predict this?"
Damon’s face softened a bit, he fell silent, and the atmosphere in the room seemed to suffocate with his silence.
I kept silent too. Everything was out in the open now, and there was nothing more to say.
Finally, Damon got up and said, "Don’t have anything to do with her. Don’t investigate her, don’t get close to her, and pretend nothing else happened."
"How could I pretend nothing happened?" I retorted. My tone had cooled, indifference filled my eyes as I looked at Damon. "What do you take me for? A fool or a madman? Even the things that have hurt me, I should pretend they didn’t happen. Do you think that’s possible?"
"What do you want then?" Damon stood at the foot of the bed, looking down at me like some high and mighty god as if I was his loyal follower who had worshiped him for ten years.
I asked him sarcastically, "Damon, are you ready to give in for her? That’s why you went to negotiate personally, which led to me getting hurt too."
"Yes" Damon’s answer was straightforward, so his hurtful words were also straightforward.
"Since you know everything now, and I know her, and she knows I’m your wife, why don’t we just get a divorce? I’ll give her my place, no hard feelings." I brought up the divorce again.
In my past life, Damon proposed for a divorce after pursuing Ariel for a year, but things were different now. He might want to divorce me sooner.
Clara was right. This man has brought me nothing but suffering!
I need to get away from this disaster and chase a better life.
Damon’s eyes instantly turned icy cold.
Just then, Jones appeared at the hospital room door, his eyebrows furrowed, his eyes filled with complex emotions as he watched Damon and me in a standoff.
Damon noticed him too and said gloomily, "Don’t dream about it until I bring it up."
Then he turned to leave, and as he passed by Jones, he paused and said, "There’s a party tonight. Wanna grab a drink?"
"Sure, send me the address." Jones nodded.
The two were nearly the same height, both very attractive men, even more so when standing together. After Damon left, I joked with Jones, "Dr. Jones, you’ve never had a girlfriend. Are you into guys? Can you help me chase Damon? If you can break him up with Ariel, I’ll get you a present!"
Jones gave me a cold look, and I immediately shut up.
"Did you talk it out with him?" He sat down where Damon had been sitting and asked casually.
"Yes, about the Chemical Plant, he investigated Ariel dad and Uncle found out that my maid Cherry is Ariel’s mother." I sighed, "Unfortunately, he still didn’t agree to the divorce."
"If he’s only toying with Ariel’s feelings, would you forgive him?" Jones looked at me.
laughed, "Do you think I’m that kind? And do you really think he’s only toying with Ariel’s feelings?"
Jones fell silent, and I wondered why Jones hadn’t developed feelings for Ariel yet.
A minute later, I understood.
How can a man like someone he’s never met? Jones hasn’t seen Ariel, hasn’t chatted with her, or had dinner with her, so he hasn’t had a chance to fall for Ariel.
I need to find a way to get him to meet Ariel soon.
Just then Jones took a call and had to go to work. I lay in bed, starting to think about how to find a suitable reason for him to meet Ariel, to get him interested in her. If Damon had a love rival, and if that rival was his good friend, his possessiveness towards Ariel would only get stronger.
Then he would agree to divorce me, right?
During my hospital stay, I kept thinking about this problem until the day I was discharged; Jones came to me and told me that Damon had taken Ariel to see a few of his good friends.
I knew exactly what that meant, I had been married to him for five years, and he had never taken me to dine with his friends.
"Okay, I got it." I replied calmly.
"Aren’t you upset anymore?" Jones asked.
"The most useless emotion is sadness." I patted Jones’s arm lightly, "Thanks, I’ll treat you to a meal next time."
After I said that, I got in the car. My mom was waiting for me.
Sadness, anger, upset, and pain were the emotions I had felt in my past life. I’d had enough, and I accepted it. My tears couldn’t change a thing.
"Dr. Jones, what did he say to you?" My mom asked as she looked out the car window at Jones.
"Nothing, he just congratulated me on getting discharged." I leaned into my mom’s shoulder as I held her arm, then told James to drive, "James, back to Starlight Estates."
"Yes, ma’am," James answered, and we left the hospital.
Back at Starlight Estates, I wanted my mom to have lunch at home, but she insisted on going back, saying that my dad was also coming home today
I joked, "Mom, you and Dad have been married for so many years, and your relationship is still this good? I’ve never seen you this eager when he comes back from a business trip. Are you reminiscing about your young love?"
My mom laughed and pretended to be angry, "You dare to joke about me and your dad?"
"Till have James drive you home." I blocked the hand my mom raised to hit me and said with a laugh.
"Okay, take care of yourself. My mom reminded me before she left.
After James took my mom away, I sat in the living room lost in thought. I wonder what’s going on with Cherry now. Did she know that Ariel and Joshua broke up? Has she noticed that Damon is pursuing Ariel?
I had too much on my mind, so I started to get a headache. I didn’t even eat lunch and went upstairs to rest.
Cause I got injured Damon hooked me up with a sick leave for half a month. After I checked out of the hospital, I’ve been chilling at Starlight Estates to recover, Apart from hanging with Luna and the gang, I pretty much didn’t do anything else.
The whole kerfuffle with the Chemical Plant’s renovation got sorted out in these two weeks. Damon eventually caved in, just like what happened in my past life.
I reckon he and Ariel might be heating things up, huh?
Lately Jones and I haven’t been in touch at all. I tried to invite him out for a meal, but he blew me off because of work.
Maybe because Damon had been hanging around Ariel more and more, he started to notice that she was a real catch, and that’s why he’s fallen for her. Hence, he no longer has time to listen to my whining
