The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 498 - 494
Chapter 498: Chapter 494
Driving there, I couldn’t help but think of Damon and the similarities between his current situation and that of my family when we had a crisis, during which he had been a great help to me.
I drove past the former residence of Ariel, which was about half rebuilt and still bustling with construction. There was no indication that the Coleman Co. was having any issues, and the project
was not delayed at all.
Without stopping, I continued on my way. My second chance at life began with Ariel, but it certainly wasn’t going to end with her. There were more complex issues awaiting me to handle and decisions to
make.
Suddenly, I heard frantic honking from behind me. I glanced in the rear-view mirror, and, to my surprise,
it was Damon’s car.
But he didn’t seem to recognize Luna’s car, so he didn’t notice me on the car.
His car sped past me, seemingly in a rush, most likely heading to see Lisa as well.
Didn’t he get the news yesterday? I watched as his car sped away and pressed the accelerator to follow him.
I arrived at the hospital by evening. It was the most prestigious private hospital there, and I heard that Coleman Co. held shares in it. If Lisa was here, her privacy could be
protected from unwanted visitors.
But of course, that also meant it was a hassle for me to enter. I had to call and get permission.
I called Lisa, but her phone was turned off. So, I called Damon, whose car was parked at the entrance of the hospital.
After a few rings, Damon picked up, his voice indifferent, "Hello."
"I’m at the nurse’s station. They said I need permission from the patient or their family to visit. Could you please come out and help?" I went straight to the point.
Damon seemed surprised that I was there, "You’re here?"
"Yeah, can you please come out?" I replied.
"Okay."
Three minutes later, Damon appeared. Upon seeing me, his furrowed brow relaxed a little. With him being there, no one stopped me from entering.
Damon turned back, and we walked in silence to Lisa’s room.
The room didn’t smell of medicine, but of faint floral fragrance. Lisa was resting on the bed with her eyes closed. She looked frail and pale, so different from our last encounter. Silas was nowhere to be
seen.
"Lisa." I spoke softly.
Lisa slowly opened her eyes. Upon seeing me, a spark of joy flickered in her eyes, brightening her otherwise gloomy face.
"Eliana, how come you’re here?" Lisa tried to sit up, but I stopped her.
"Lisa, I came to see you. How are you feeling?" Her left hand was heavily bandaged, covering her suicide attempt.
I felt a pang of sorrow but didn’t know how I could help.
Damon stood by silently. Just then, I heard a sound from the bathroom in the room. Leo came out.
Upon seeing me, his face fell, "Why is she here? I want my mommy! I want my mommy!"
"Leo!" Damon scolded, "Don’t disturb your grandma’s rest!"
"Grandma, I want my mommy," Leo didn’t obey. Instead, he ran to Lisa and continued to cry for his mother.
Lisa, already weak and in low spirits, could spare no more attention to Leo and sighed helplessly.
Leo seemed inattentive to Lisa’s situation. He persisted, as if the whole world revolved around his mother who, in reality, hadn’t been a responsible mother for him at all.
Suddenly, Damon walked over, picked Leo up, and placed him next to the wall. "Stay there and think about what you’ve done." His attitude was cold.
"But I didn’t do anything wrong!" Leo raised his voice in protest.
I was worried that Damon might lose his temper, but he held back, his face stern, inhaling deeply as if suppressing his anger.
"Leo, your grandma is already very upset. Can we not talk about this right now?" I tried to soothe the situation.
"But it’s all your fault! Because of you, my dad doesn’t want my mommy!" Leo suddenly turned his anger towards me.
I was left speechless. The kid’s perspective was truly unique, thinking that Damon abandoned Catherine for me.
I wanted to say that Damon actually distanced himself from me for many years just for Catherine!
To my surprise, Leo actually came over intending to hit me. Although he was just a seven-year-old kid and didn’t have much strength, the full force of his small fists punching me still hurt, since I was caught off guard.
"Leo Coleman!" Damon, seeing this scene, rebuked him angrily and promptly pulled Leo away.
Damon’s anger scared Leo, and he didn’t dare to cause any more trouble. But he started crying, tears streaming down his face like a broken faucet. He looked so wronged.
Lisa, though upset, still loved her grandson dearly. Seeing Leo crying so pitifully, she said, "Leo, you can’t be rude to Ms. Brooks, you know that? We’re keeping you away from your mom because she’s
not treating you well, not because of Ms. Brooks."
Seeing Leo cry and Lisa gently scold him made me realize how complicated our family is now. Lisa being sick and Damon trying to protect everyone showed how much we care about each other.
I understood that getting better would take time, not just for Lisa’s body but also for everyone’s feelings. Damon struggled to handle Leo’s upset feelings while still worrying about Lisa, showing how tricky family feelings can be.
Leaving the hospital later, I felt a strong sense of responsibility. I knew we had a long journey ahead to understand each other, forgive mistakes, and start fresh. Life can be tough, but we have to be patient and strong to get through it.
Driving back home, I thought about everything that happened. Silas’s secrets, Lisa’s illness, and Leo’s sadness were all tangled up in our lives. It was going to be hard, but I was ready to face it with courage and the love of my family.
As I left the hospital behind, I knew that challenges would keep coming, but I felt grateful for the chance to help my family and make things better.
THE END.
