The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 361 - 357
Chapter 361: Chapter 357
I instantly thought of Damon and Leo.
Seeing Catherine already working at the hospital here, I guessed they might have been still around, not having left.
If it was really them, Catherine would have probably come by soon.
I was then in the maternity ward.
Leo’s got a head injury, so he probably wouldn’t turn up here. I was a bit nervous, but I tried to comfort myself and keep cool so as not to stress out my body.
"Eliana, guess who I just saw?" My mom came back; she looked a bit tense.
"Who?" I kind of had an inkling of who she might have run into, but I didn’t say it outright.
My mom let out a deep sigh, "I can’t believe I ran into Damon here. He’s still around, and it seems like Leo’s been hurt. I saw him in the hospital lobby holding Leo, but he didn’t notice me. Talk about lucky."
My mom was clearly relieved.
"I hope Leo’s injuries aren’t severe." I said.
On the one hand, I felt that the kid was innocent, I couldn’t wish for him to get hurt. On the other hand, I hoped Leo was just lightly injured so they could have left the hospital sooner, lowering the chances of us bumping into each other.
My mom’s heart wasn’t that cold, and of course she hoped Leo was okay. We were just chit-chatting when my mom suddenly remembered something and said, "Oh, Jones said he’d come visit. I better tell him not to; it’d be a mess if he runs into Damon."
"Catherine already knows I’m pregnant and that I’m here." I told my mom about the call I had just received.
"What? She already knows?" My mom was quite shocked. She was most concerned about the babies in my belly at that time. The news being known to Catherine was not good news for us.
"Yes, and she seems very interested in who the father of the child is. I didn’t tell her, but she would definitely suspect it’s Damon’s. What are we going to do?" I felt really annoyed thinking about that possibility. I needed to take deep breaths to keep calm
I still remember the previous time I was pushed off the bed by Ariel and I had a miscarriage. Although my baby was unstable to begin with, there was still a glimmer of hope.
What I feared the most was that the two babies in my belly would have to face danger again.
Even if they were born, I would still worry about someone wanting to hurt them. Even Damon wasn’t an exception!
My mom kept silent for a while, then said, "We’ll go back once the babies are born. I hire some servants to help out at home to keep an eye out and not let suspicious people in. This way, your dad and I would feel more at ease."
Those thoughts might have been overly cautious, but because of the babies, my mom, dad, and I
I were all extremely on edge. We had to think of everything possible.
In the end, my mom didn’t call Jones. I thought if Jones did come and was discovered by Catherine and Damon, it wouldn’t have mattered. It might have even been better to have them misunderstand that Jones was the father.
I didn’t want to be legally tied to Jones because of the babies, I just wanted to mislead Catherine a bit, so she give up on the idea of my babies.
But I didn’t expect that Jones and Catherine’s meet-up would be so coincidental. When they walked into my ward together, I was a bit taken aback.
Catherine had her hands in her trench coat pockets, grinning at me, "Ms. Brooks, Leo got injured, so I came over here, ran into Jones by chance, so we came to see you together."
Jones had a package of food in his hand, probably something he made at home. Hearing Catherine insulated the box and handed me a portion of food, "Eat something."
"Um, did you make this?" I didn’t answer Catherine’s question but asked Jones instead.
explain the reason on her own, he didn’t echo. He just opened the box
"Yes, have a taste and see how it is." Jones warmly handed me a knife and fork as his eyes were full of anticipation.
Catherine was just standing on the side, watching us, her expression bland. After I took a few bites, she finally smiled and "who the father of the children is because it’s Jones?"
"Ms. Brooks, are you unwilling to tell me"
Jones’s gaze swept over Catherine and finally landed on me. I felt a bit guilty. I had told him before that I didn’t want any more relationships with him because of the babies, but since I found out that Catherine knew about my situation, I started to waver.
I just hoped my babies were going to be safe and healthy. I could have tolerated anything else.
"Dr. Catherine, you don’t need to worry about these things." I answered coldly.
I’m not worried, just concerned about a friend. Jones and I went to the same university," Catherine sighed lightly, "Ms. Brooks, I really don’t mind your past with Damon; it was me who was being silly back then and did some foolish things. I’ve thought it through these years; that’s why I came back."
That kind of honesty made me uneasy. I never thought Catherine was a straightforward person. She did what she did to punish Damon in the past; she even gave birth to a child alone abroad. She didn’t even tell her own family about it. That showed that she was a cold person.
"Dr. Catherine, you don’t need to explain these things to me. Right now, I have no relationship with Damon. As you can see, I’m about to give birth, and the father of the child is not Damon." I cut Catherine off.
Catherine was taken aback, then looked at Jones, as if waiting for him to give her a confirmed answer.
"You should know that I was with Eliana before, so it’s not strange that I’m the father of the child." Jones finally spoke, confirming Catherine’s guess.
The moment I heard that answer, I could clearly feel Catherine let out a sigh of relief.
If I were her, I’d been nervous too. Although Leo was a Coleman, he hadn’t been back all those years. Damon, Silas and Lisa’s relationship with Leo wasn’t close.
But the babies I’m carrying were different. As long as I was willing to hand the babies over to the Colemans, Damon would have definitely doted on these two babies
even more.
I have confidence in this.
I was not looking to pick a fight with Catherine. I could take care of my own kids. There was no need to eye the Coleman family fortune. Rather than all that bickering, I’d rather lived a simple, peaceful life with my kids.
"You’re right, I’ve been worrying too much." Catherine didn’t get mad. She gently ran her fingers through her hair and then said, "Well, I won’t ask Damon to come see you then. He’s busy with Leo right now and he can’t get any time."
I couldn’t care less. The more he stayed away, the better.
Besides, even if he found out the kids were Jones’s, I bet we’d have still ended up arguing anyway.
