The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 257 - 253
Chapter 257: Chapter 253
Damon sat by my hospital bed, studying me quietly for a moment before saying. "The autopsy report is in. Joshua froze to death. He called you before he died"
I was already crying. After Damon spoke, I burst into tears even harder.
"The area wasn’t covered by surveillance videos, and the camera in the freezer room was broken. The cops think Joshua got a call and went there, maybe thinking that the freezer warehouse was abandoned and deciding to check it out. They think he accidentally got locked in"
I didn’t buy any of Damon’s crap. How could Joshua be so careless as to wander into an abandoned freezer room in the suburbs and lock himself inside just out of curiosity?
I was too choked up to speak, but I knew something was off
"It’s Ariel’s doing!" After a while, I calmed down a bit and told Damon. "She’s been trying to get Joshua out of the city. She’s the only one who’d harm Joshua!"
"We don’t have any proof yet." Damon took my hand. "We need to keep our cool."
"How can I keep my cool? Damon, I killed Joshua, don’t you see? I’m the one to blame! He was so good, and I got him killed! How can I stay calm?" I said as my voice filled with emotion
Noticing that I was getting more and more worked up, Damon hugged me and whispered, "You need to rest. If Ariel really did this to Joshua, I promise, I will make her pay, okay?"
I was blinded by rage and hatred. When Damon said that, I pushed him away and snapped, "Why would you help me? You’re nothing but a liar! You can’t stand the fact that I divorced you while you’re still tangled up with Ariel!"
As soon as I said that, Damon’s face changed. He gritted his teeth and asked, "Do you think I’m just unwilling to accept the divorce when it comes to you?"
"Isn’t that the truth? Damon, I’m the only person who has ever dumped you in your life, right? if you truly loved me, you wouldn’t be making deals with me and pushing me, would you?" I glared at him, as if he were also the murderer who killed Joshua
Damon’s eyes were practically spewing fire. "Eliana, I know you’re hurting right now, so I don’t want to make it worse. But if you insist on taking my sincerity as hypocrisy I’ll make you regret it!"
"Why did you partner with Soul Enterprises then? Isn’t it because of Ariel?" I sneered, "And Catherine! If she hadn’t died, we would have divorced the day after our wedding right?"
These two women were like thorns in my heart, especially Ariel. She had caused me to have a miscarriage. If she was the one who killed Joshua, I’d make her pay!
My partnership with Soul Enterprises has nothing to do with Ariel. Damon’s anger faded a bit, and his tone became cold
"How am I supposed to trust you if you won’t tell me anything?" I tried to calm myself down Damon,
"I’m not even sure if you’re really trying to help me or if you’re just using it as an excuse to spy on me for Ariel"
Damon clearly didn’t want to listen to me anymore. He gave me a cold look and walked out without looking back.
I sat on the edge of my bed, staring blankly. What difference did it make to voice the doubts in my heart?
Luna and the others walked in. After hearing about my conversation with Damon, Luna said helplessly "Eliana, you were too impulsive this time. If you had let Damon help, it would have saved you a lot of trouble"
"You all should go. I want some alone time."I felt extremely tired. Maybe I was just overwhelmed by everything
Knowing me well, Luna and the others understood that they should give me some space at this time.
When I was alone in the room, I took out my phone and opened WhatsApp. After clicking on Joshua’s profile, my heart was still filled with pain.
I stared blankly at the chat history between Joshua and me, feeling like I was indeed responsible for all this. The fate of my parents and Joshua had been made worse because of me.
At this time, someone slowly walked in from the door
"Eliana "Jones looked at me sadly.
"Jones, why are you here?" I wiped the tears from my eyes and tried to smile
Jones gently closed the door of the ward. He had cut his hair short and looked sharper. His usually cold face was now always covered with an inscrutable veil.
He came over to me and looked at me, "I heard about Joshua and that you’re in the hospital, so I came to see you. My mom is also in this hospital"
The pressure on him was no less than mine. He had quit his beloved job, his mother was in the late stages of cancer, and he was forced to get engaged to a woman he didnt love.
In front of him, I had no right to appear weak.
"Yes, I’m fine." I tried to appear strong
"Joshua’s death might not be an accident." Jones didn’t beat around the bush. His guess was similar to mine, "This must have something to do with Ariel."
His words immediately resonated with me. I nodded, "Yes, I suspect her too. She pushed Joshua to the edge before, forcing him to leave the city, and then this happened,"
Jones didn’t respond immediately but fell into deep thought.
I was in desperate need of someone to analyze the situation with me, so I couldn’t help but urge him, "Jones, what are you thinking?"
His brow twitched, and he looked at me deeply, seeming a bit hesitant.
Finally, he asked, ’Do you believe Damon will help you?"
I was taken aback and didn’t know how to answer his question. My feelings for Damon were extremely complicated now. They were like a tightly stretched string that could break at any moment, but they never did.
"I don’t know." I gave a vague answer, but what did it have to do with whether or not I trusted Damon?
Could Joshua’s death have something to do with him too?
Jones’s expression was hard to read, but in the end, he showed a faint smile, "The police should be able to clear up Joshua’s case. If his death is really related to Ariel, they’ll definitely find clues."
Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock at the door. Jones went over to answer it. It was Scarlett.
Scarlett glanced at me, then asked Jones cautiously, "Jones, are you guys done talking?"
"Yeah, let’s go." Jones replied while glancing back at me.
I was just spacing out, not reacting.
I don’t know why, but something about Jones’s question just now made me really suspicious of Damon.
I was itching to get out of the hospital after just one day.
