"Damon, can you help me find Joshua?" I didn’t have time to think about anything else. My first instinct was to ask Damon for help.

"Nope" Damon coldly rejected

"He’s at his wit’s end thanks to Ariel and is about to leave the city. Now I can’t reach him, which probably means he’s in trouble. This is a life-and-death matter! Do something good!" I grabbed Damon’s arm and said.

I genuinely cared for Joshua like a younger brother. If something really happened to him, I had to find a way to help.

Anger flashed in Damon’s eyes, "Why do you care about him so much?"

"Nothing happened between us, but he’s my friend. He genuinely cares for me, so it’s only natural that I care for him" I said quickly. The next second, I felt deflated, "Never mind, I’ll call the cops myself"

I turned to leave, Damon muttered something under his breath, then quickly caught up with me, "Wright, alright. I’ll help you find him, okay?"

"Really?" I was somewhat delighted. If Damon was willing to help, we could surely find him faster.

"I’ll let you know within two days, but I have one condition" Damon stared at me

I had already agreed to stay at Starlight Estates for a month, so one more condition wouldn’t hurt. I nodded readily, "Shoot."

"No matter what happens in the future, don’t give Jones another chance," Damon said firmly. He stared at me, waiting for my answer.

I had no intention of getting involved with Jones again, so despite feeling uncomfortable, I could accept Damon’s condition

After a few seconds of silence, I agreed, "Okay You’ll handle the stuff about my dad and finding Joshua. I’ll go to the office every day, but no matter how late, I’ll come back to Starlight Estates"

"Mhm" Damon replied, "Let’s head back."

In the deep of the night, Damon drove me back to Starlight Estates. Silas and Lisa had already gone to bed. The villa was quiet, and we tacitly headed upstairs

Damon stopped me at the entrance of the master bedroom, "You’re sleeping here. I’ll take the quest room"

I silently entered the room and closed the door behind me.

I had lived at Starlight Estates for five years before, so even after two or three years, I quickly got used to the large bed and the familiar yet unfamiliar scent in the air.

Before going to bed, I took a bath and went to the dressing room. The wardrobe that I had previously emptied was now filled with women’s clothes. They – were all brand new luxury brands. Damon wasn’t kidding when he said he had prepared everything.

The shower products were the ones I used to use. They smelled exactly the same.

That night, I had a nightmare about Joshua disappearing. In my dream, I looked for him for a long time, only to find him lying motionless in a terrifying place, no longer breathing.

When I woke up. I felt incredibly drained. The nightmare had taken a toll on me. As I stared at the sky outside, I felt a little dazed.

There was a knock on the door, and then I heard Damon’s voice, "Are you up?"

"Yeah, I’m getting up."I quickly got out of bed, freshened up, changed, and swiftly applied some light makeup

By the time I opened the bedroom door, half an hour had passed, but Damon was still waiting for me.

I smiled at him, "You really didn’t have to wait for me"

"Aren’t you going to the office? I’ll drop you." Damon glanced at his watch, "Let’s go. We’ll have breakfast downstairs."

With that, he turned and went downstairs, and I silently followed him. In the dining area, I found Silas and Lisa already there. They smiled at me when they saw me

I greeted them, "Good morning"

"Good morning, Eliana."

"Have a seat and enjoy your breakfast. You look thinner than before" Lisa pushed a plate of hot bread towards me and asked the maid to warm up some milk for me.

Silas, who was eating bread, also chimed in, "Yeah, you should eat more. It’s good for your digestion."

I didn’t really have an appetite, but for the sake of my health, I tried to eat a bit.

Damon, sitting next to me, grabbed an omelet from the table and started adding sah and pepper. I silently prayed that he wouldn’t give me anything else to eat.

"You should have this. You need to replenish your proteins every day" As expected, Damon put the seasoned omelet in front of me

Silas and Lisa exchanged a glance, their eyes full of meaning

I didn’t want Damon’s attention, but I needed his help. Would he get mad if I refused?

I nodded and ate the omelet.

After finishing the omelet, I realized it was just an appetizer. The maid soon brought in many more dishes, looking even more lavish than a typical lunch Lisa said cheerfully, "Eliana, Damon told me you’d be staying here for a while, so I asked the chel to prepare a hearty breakfast every day. Since you would be back for lunch, you must have a good breakfast and dinner"

Damon also seemed surprised by the spread, "Are you raising pigs here?" He asked his mother, frowning.

Lisa retorted, "Enough from you. Eliana is our guest, and we should treat her well. Otherwise, people might think we’re stingy"

I looked at the lavish breakfast in front of me and felt a bit unsure.

Damon ignored his mother and said to me, "Eat whatever you want. If you can’t finish, just eat less."

"Okay" I felt pressured by the Coleman family’s hospitality and grew more worried. Would Silas and Lisa misunderstand and think I moved in because Damon and I were getting back together?

In my confusion, I ate a bit of this and that, then signaled to Damon that we could leave.

Today, I had to ask James to bring my car over and pick me up from now on. After all, I couldn’t rely on Damon to drop me off every day

"Damon, do you think your parents might have misunderstood something?" I asked once we were in the car.

"Nah, I’ve already told them. Plus, they’re heading back this afternoon". Damon replied, keeping his eyes on the road.

Damon’s parents returning to Springvale was good news for me. At least it would save me some embarrassment next time I went back to Starlight Estates.

Damon’s response eased my worries a bit. I gazed out of the window in silence, my heart only fluttering slightly when I received Luna’s messages.

"OMG, Jones is getting engaged?!"

"They just announced their engagement!"

Luna continued, "I thought he was into you? How come he’s getting married so quickly?"

My brows twitched at the unexpected news as an indescribable feeling spread in my heart.
