Lisa caught on to the weird vibe between Zoe and me and started eyeing Zoe like a hawk

Any woman who could walk straight into Damon’s house must be something else.

Zoe had dyed her hair brown, which made her look more docile and gentler. Her nose and lip piercings were gone, but the row of earrings on her ears were still there, adding a dash of rebellion to her otherwise soft demeanor

I knew exactly what kind of daughter-in-law Silas and Lisa were looking for. They preferred a girl who was well-read, generous, simple yet elegant, and full of noble.

They definitely wouldn’t like the row of earrings on Zoe’s ears. And they still didn’t know about Zoe’s background.

"Damon, who is this?" Even though Lisa might not like Zoe’s look, she still managed to keep her tone soft.

"A friend" Damon responded curtly, almost coldly

Zoe quickly got her act together. She beamed at us, "Hello! I’m Damon’s friend. Just call me Zoe I heard from Damon that it’s his mom’s birthday today, so I brought a gift"

She walked up to Lisa and handed her a birthday present. It was a transparent, delicate box containing a beautiful red crystal ring. Judging from the quality, it definitely wasn’t cheap

As expected, Lisa’s eyes lit up when she saw the gift. She showered praise on the ring, and Zoe seemed to relax a bit.

But the next second. Lisa returned the gift to Zoe, "I can’t accept such an expensive present. Zoe, why don’t you stay and have dinner with us?"

Zoe was taken aback, and a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face. It was awkward to have a gift returned, but Lisa’s refusal was understandable. She couldn’t possibly accept a gift this expensive from a mere friend of Damon’s.

"Zoe, come sit with us" I tried to ease the awkwardness.

"Okay." Zoe nodded, placed the gift on the table, and sat down next to me.

I was friends with Zoe, and she was quite outgoing, so the atmosphere in the living room quickly lightened up

Silas and Lisa appeared to be fine on the surface, but from time to time they would exchange glances and size Zoe and me up.

Damon sat on the other couch looking rather gloomy. I couldn’t tell whether he was pleased or displeased with Zoe’s arrival.

"Mr. Iceberg, didnt you prepare a gift for your mom?" Zoe asked Damon.

Lisa was a bit surprised by this nickname and asked, "Mr. Iceberg?"

Zoe playfully stuck out her tongue. " I think Damon is too cold, so I gave him this nickname. I hope you don’t mind. It’s just a joke among friends"

"It’s okay I just thought the nickname was quite unique." Lisa said with a smile.

Zoe seized the opportunity to praise Lisa, "How can such a gentle woman like you have such a cold son? But Damon definitely got his looks from you guys. He’s so handsome!"

Lisa maintained her polite smile. She wasn’t the kind of person who could be easily swayed by simple compliments, and she had heard plenty of them already

Damon glared at Zoe. "Shut up!"

"We’re all sitting here; it’s only interesting if we chat a little, right?" Zoe turned to me with a smile.

I agreed with her, "Yes. It’s always nice to have you around; we always have plenty of topics to talk about."

This was a genuine compliment. Zoe was delighted and winked at me

Damon frowned at me, seemingly not approving of my words, but he wasn’t as impatient with me.

Just then, a servant came over. "Ms. Ariel and Ms. Nancy are here, but they’ve been stopped by security"

"What is she doing here? Send her away!" Silas said coldly

"Let them in "Everyone was taken aback by Damon’s sudden remark

Lisa’s face immediately changed, "Damon, working with Soul Enterprises is one thing, but are you planning to get involved with Ariel again?"

She asked him directly in front of me and Zoe, not holding anything back

Damon responded calmly. "I can’t turn them away because we’re working together"

The servant naturally took Damon’s side and immediately left.

The living room fell silent again, I was familiar with this slightly awkward atmosphere, so I didn’t feel uncomfortable. I just quietly sipped my drink.

Zoe also remained calm, not saying a word.

After a while, the servant brought Ariel, Nancy, and Karen in.
