Chapter 237: Chapter 233

I thought of the diamond ring Jones had given me, and a pang of pain shot through my heart.

I didn’t know how long it would take for me to be able to chat with him like a friend again. Until he put aside his past, that would be impossible.

"Are you feeling sorry for him?" Damon suddenly asked coldly, with a sense of indifference in his voice.

"No "I snapped out of my thoughts and replied casually

"Haha," Damon laughed coldly. "Feeling sorry is feeling sorry. What’s there to deny? He’s indeed a good guy, worth feeling a bit sorry for, but sadly, he’s not right for you"

When it came to me and Jones, the least qualified person to comment was Damon

I got mad and retorted angrily, "Is there a man in this world who suits me less than you do?"

Damon turned his head to look at me immediately, there was something bleak in his eyes that scared me a bit. I pretended not to notice and quietly gazed at the scenery outside the window.

After that, Damon didn’t say anything. I could feel a tense atmosphere in the car, which lasted until we arrived at the hospital

"Hold on to me"

When he was about to carry me out of the car, Damon ordered me sternly.

I refused him, "I don’t need you to carry me. Just get a nurse to help me"

"You just twisted your ankle, and you want the busy nurses to run over and help you?" Damon said sternly

I was speechless.

In the end, I had no choice but to compromise and let Damon carry me into the hospital. Along the way, I gently draped my arm over his neck, giving him a piece of my mind without actually saying it.

Both of my ankles were sprained it wasn’t serious after some medication and bandaging, but for the next few days, I would be restricted in my movements. The doctor pushed up his glasses and looked at Damon, "You’ll have to take good care of her for the next few days. It might be difficult for her to go to the bathroom or take a shower. As her husband, you need to assist her more"

"Doctor, he’s not my husband." I interrupted the doctor

The doctor was taken aback

Damon said coldly. "Ex-husband and husband are the same thing. Let’s go, I’ll take you home."

The doctor suddenly gave a knowing smile as he watched us leave

Damon drove me back to Sterling Estates. I looked at him in confusion, "Did you get the address wrong?"

"Where do you want to live? Alone in your apartment or your parents house ? if you faint in the bathroom, no one would know." Damon picked me up and headed into Starlight Estates.

The servants who were tending the yard looked surprised when they saw my face

A couple of the braver ones even greeted us, "Sir, madam, you’re back."

"Uh huh, prepare dinner," Damon ordered.

I corrected him, "Please don’t call me ’madam! It’s better to call me Ms. Brooks",

Damon ignored me, carrying me straight up to the second floor. All the way, I could only see his chiseled jawline and prominent Adam’s apple.

When we entered the living room, I noticed that the front door had been replaced. I guess it was after the ruckus Ariel caused last time, but I don’t know where she got the key from.

"Just put me in the quest room, and after dinner, I’ll call James to take me home. He can help me."I spoke again.

"How can he help you? He’s a man. Are you going to have him help you bathe, dress, or accompany you to the toilet?" Damon asked, displeased, his voice filled with discontent

Actually, I could ask Sofia to stay with me for a few days, but she was busy preparing for her wedding. She had a lot to arrange right now!

Damon placed me on the bed in the master bedroom and said expressionlessly, "I’ll go prepare the bath water"

"Damon, you don’t have to bother. I really won’t be staying here overnight. Thanks though" I stopped Damon and explained again.

"You take a bath and eat first, then I’ll take you home "Damon left this sentence and went to the bathroom.

I sat dumbfounded on the bed. This was my second time back here since I returned to the country. Each time, it felt a bit desolate.

Just as I was zoning out, Damon came back. He glanced at me, then went into the walk-in closet and brought out a set of women’s clothes, including a black lace bra and a yellow leisure suit.

After the divorce, I had taken all my clothes with me, especially the undergarments. I would never have left them here. So these must be some other woman’s clothes

I’m not used to wearing other people’s clothes, "No need, I’ll just wear what I have on now."

"Tipse clothes are all new, custom-made to your size. But you’ve lost weight, so they might be a bit big for you now, especially.." Damon deliberately looked at my chest.

I glared at him, "Can you not be so tasteless?!"

"I just stated the truth, and you label me as ’tasteless’?" Damon looked displeased. "If you lose any more weight, who would want you? What’s the difference between holding you and holding a skeleton?"

I was speechless. How could this man have become so disgusting, saying such infuriating things?

When I loved him, no matter how cold or sarcastic he was, I could bear it. But now, I just wanted to curse him out.

However, I was mobility-challenged and also in Damon’s house. Better hold my tongue

Damon put the clothes in the bathroom, then came over to lift me. I immediately said, "I don’t need to bathe."

"After sitting on the ground for so long, don’t you need a bath?" Damon frowned.

I actually really wanted to take a bath. It would make me feel better. But my foot couldn’t touch water now. How could I bathe?

Damon completely ignored me and directly carried me into the bathroom. Then he called a servant and instructed, "Her foot can’t touch the water; be careful"

"Alright." The servant nodded.

After Damon left the bathroom, the servant helped me undress and carefully placed me in the bathtub with only my foot exposed.

While bathing, the servant and I chatted. She came with Cherry back then and had known me for a while. But we haven’t seen each other for over two years.

"Mrs. Coleman, in these two years, Mr. Coleman has not brought any woman home. He often sits in the cello room where you used to play. Maybe he regrets it." The servant told me

"Just call me Ms. Brooks. I’m divorced from him. I’m not his wife anymore." I replied softly.

The housekeeper nodded, "Ms. Brooks, could you possibly give Mr. Coleman another chance?"

I was a bit taken aback. When did the housekeeping staff start batting for Damon? From what I knew about Damon, his demeanor towards them wasn’t exactly sunshine and roses.

His principle was pretty straightforward. He was paying them, so whoever took his money should bend over backward for him.

"How does he treat you guys?" I couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.

"Mr. Coleman is indeed a bit on the dominant and distant side. We all know that. He’s not one for chitchat with us, but he gave us a pay raise and bonuses on holidays, and if we’re in a bind, he’s been known to lend us a hand. I think Mr. Coleman is not as bad as he appears on the surface" The maid replied earnestly.
