The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 200 - 196
Chapter 200: Chapter 196
Next up, my mom was all tied up dealing with supplier issues.
Seeing all this, my dad took it hard. Both my mom and I told him to stay out of it. He was about to retire. If someone got dirt on him, his reputation would go down the drain.
To ease some of the load off my mom, I reached out to his dad, Mr. Andrew
He was out of the business game, but his friendship with my mom still stood.
"Mrs. Brooks and I have already had a chat about this. We’ve worked together for a long time, so pricing is negotiable. The main issue is... there are factors we can’t stand against," Mr. Andrew sighed on the other end of the line.
"Spill it," I urged him sincerely.
"The problem lies with Coleman Co. Ms. Brooks, you were once married to Mr. Coleman. Why not try hashing it out with him?" Mr. Andrew revealed the true cause.
My heart sank. As expected, it was Damon, targeting my family!
It reminded me of the stuff that went down in my past life. He stirred up a huge ruckus with my family to divorce me, driving us almost to the brink of despair
Was history going to repeat itself?
After hanging up, I sat and thought for a while, then grabbed my car keys and left the office.
When I arrived at the Coleman Co., the receptionist stopped me, asking if I had an appointment.
"No, but I need to speak with Damon urgently," I replied politely.
The receptionist examined me up and down. She seemed to recognize me but couldn’t place me. She was probably new, as I used to work here for a while, and she wasn’t the receptionist then.
She then denied me," I’m sorry miss. We can’t arrange a meeting with Mr. Coleman without an appointment."
"Is he in the office now?" I asked again.
"I’m sorry, I can’t disclose that," she replied professionally, not revealing more than necessary.
I plopped down on the couch nearby. I tried calling Damon, but his phone was off.
So I had no choice but to wait for him.
As it got later, the staff at Coleman Co. trickled out. Some of them recognized me. They shot me curious glances and whispered among themselves. During the wait, I tried calling Damon a few more times, but his phone was still off. I didn’t know if he was genuinely busy or deliberately making things difficult
Just then, a stylishly dressed woman walked in Her baseball cap and sunglasses covered most of her face, so I couldn’t see her clearly
She didn’t notice me. She breezed past me, greeted the receptionist, and hopped onto the executive elevator. The two executive elevators at Coleman Co. were card-access only.
I squinted my eyes, got up, and walked towards the elevator. I saw it stop at the top floor, where Damon’s office was.
"Miss, it’s already dark. You should go home," the receptionist, seeing me approach the elevator, rushed over to stop me and asked me to leave.
"Who’s she?" I asked. She didn’t seem like Damon’s wife, Ariel.
The receptionist dodged my question, simply saying, "She has an appointment."
Damon was forcing our biggest supplier to cut ties with us, yet he was avoiding my calls and meeting some hot chic?
I was pissed, so I dialed Luna Wallace, "Luna, is Mitch there?"
"He’s playing with the kids. What’s up?" Luna asked, obviously curious.
"Get him on the phone. I need a favor, I said.
Luna promptly handed the phone to Mitch. Soon, Mitch’s voice came through," Eliana, what’s up?"
"Can you swing by Coleman Co.?" I asked
"Now?" Mitch sounded shocked
"Right now" I said calmly, though I was a mess inside.
Mitch showed up half an hour later. He was close with Damon, so he had free access to Coleman Co. I asked him to take me to Damon’s office.
The receptionist recognized Mitch Seeing him escort me to Damon, she looked both shocked and uneasy.
In the elevator, Mitch asked me, "What do you need Damon for so urgently? Didn’t he pick up your calls?"
"He’s had his phone off all afternoon," I said, leaning against the elevator wall. My reflection in the shiny elevator doors looked haggard. I hadn’t been sleeping well due to company matters, and it showed.
I Straightened up and reapplied my lipstick inside the elevator
Mitch watched me and let out a sigh
"Eliana, are you really with Jones?" he seemed in disbelief.
"Yeah. It’s not often you find someone who genuinely likes you," I said, finishing my lipstick and pulling my hair into a low ponytail, revealing my face. I looked a bit more awake.
Mitch still seemed dubious but didn’t press further.
When we reached the top floor, I told Mitch to go back down. He had no choice but to leave me alone.
It was after office hours, so the top floor was deserted. Damon’s office was just a short distance away. All I had to do was open that door to find him.
I walked up quietly and found the door wasn’t shut tight. I could peek through the small gap.
"Damon, what’s the meaning of this? The woman from earlier, now hat and glasses-free, was Emma, the one who had been linked to Damon recently.
Damon sat on the couch, legs crossed, with a magazine on his lap. He was flipping through it absentmindedly, unresponsive to the woman next to him.
Emma moved closer, "I came straight here as soon as I got your call on set. Why are you being so cold? Don’t you like what I’m wearing today?"
She suddenly stripped off her purple bodysuit. The black bra underneath was quite suggestive. Her large breasts made her waist look incredibly slim.
Although I’ve heard that Emma has always been fairly honest with people, her bold move stunned me.
"You aren’t moved, or what?" Emma leaned in, deliberately getting up in Damon’s grill.
Damon started to furrowed his brows. His gaze swept over the door and lingered for a moment. I quickly ducked out of sight a bit.
Even though I wasn’t intentionally spying on them, I still felt a bit uncomfortable.
"You’re such a bad boy!" Suddenly, Emma from inside the room said, sounding coy and pleased.
Soon, the door swung open. Damon’s figure appeared before me, "Had enough of a peep show? Want to come in and see the real thing?"
There was a lipstick mark on his shirt collar, I wasn’t sure if it was just left there.
Emma was sitting on the sofa, her arms wrapped around her bent knees, giving me a hostile look, "Are you some kind of pervert? He invited you in, and you actually came?"
"Sorry, I didn’t mean to crash your party. Just need a few words with Mr. Coleman," I shot Emma an apologetic look before speaking.
Emma snorted. She was lounging on the sofa, not bothering to hide her eye-catching figure
Damon adjusted his tie nonchalantly. "I’m kind of tied up right now. Give me a ring if you need something"
"Your phone’s been switched off all afternoon!" I frowned. "It won’t take much of your time. Just some business stuff to discuss."
Damon flopped back onto the sofa, lighting a cigarette. "If memory serves, our companies stopped doing business soon after our divorce. What’s there to talk about?"
Emma suddenly sat up, giving me a wide eyed store. "So, you’re his ex-wife? I knew you looked familiar."
Two years had passed, and many had forgotten about me.
"Ms. Emma, I need a word with him. Can we have a moment?" I asked politely.
Emma glanced at Damon, then back at me, and resumed her lounging position "Go ahead, chat here. I’m beat; I’m going to get some sleep. Don’t worry, I won’t eavesdrop"
Clearly, she didn’t think much of me.
It seemed an ex-wife didn’t warrant any courtesy
Damon stayed silent, puffing away and giving me ambiguous glances.
Emma suddenly stretched her legs onto Damon’s lap." I’m so tired. Mr. Coleman, can you give me a massage?"
Damon glanced at her slim legs. He tossed his cigarette into the ashtray and began massaging her legs.
"Mr. Coleman is such a gentleman. It’d be a shame if you weren’t my boyfriend", Emma giggled her laughter as light as a bell
I felt invisible, completely ignored.
I should’ve walked out, but thinking about my mom’s hardship, I couldn’t
If I could convince Damon, maybe Andrew wouldn’t cut ties with us. Maybe we could resolve our company’s crisis.
I had to admit that Coleman Co. was a force to be reckoned with If Damon decided to hit us, things would be grim.
"Damon, all I need is ten minutes of your time", I tried to keep my cool, speaking as gently as possible
"He said he’s busy! What’s your deal? You’re his ex wife, why are you still clinging on?" Emma snapped at me." I’ve heard you chased Damon for five years before you guys tied the knot. Looks like it’s true. You just can’t let go, can you?"
Damon’s hand suddenly stopped, his face turning icy.
"I’ve already said this. It’s about business," I replied calmly
"He made it clear he didn’t want to talk. Can’t you tell?" Emma was peeved, and her date with Damon was interrupted.
Emma was too self-assured
I knew Damon didn’t have the slightest bit of affection for her. I’ve met too many like her before; I was used to it.
I just kept looking at Damon, hoping he’d change his mind. No need to repeat the past’s dog-eat-dog tragedy.
"Get out," Damon finally spoke again, his gaze fixed on me.
’Did you hear that? He’s asking you to leave", Emma wore a victorious smile.
Damon brushed her legs off, his tone cold. "I was talking to you"
The smile froze on Emma ’s face "You’re serious? You want me to leave?"
"Don’t make me repeat myself. Get out of the Coleman Co. building!" Damon ordered impatiently.
Emma looked shocked and angry, but facing an impatient Damon, she didn’t dare to throw a tantrum. She couldn’t afford to offend this man.
"I’m leaving!" Emma huffed, hastily putting on her coat, and stormed towards the door.
She intentionally bumped into me on her way out, nearly knocking me off balance.
Damon immediately stood up and rushed over to steady me. I quickly stepped back to avoid him.
His demeanor changed from one of concern to one of coldness, and his expression darkened.
"What do you want to talk about? Spit it out." He sat back down, crossing his legs, looking somewhat disdainful
I sat opposite him This was the first time we’d sat down face-to-face since our divorce two years ago.
The office was brightly lit. I could see every minute expression on Damon’s face. There was no warmth in his eyes.
"Do you know Leger Corporation?" I asked.
"Nope," Damon responded quickly
"You don’t know Andrew?" I frowned. Was Damon lying to me?
Damon was toying with a lighter and answered lightly, "I know him, but we are not close."
"He’s the CEO of Leger Corporation. They’re our company’s main supplier, but they suddenly wanted to terminate our contract, "I explained the situation, watching Damon’s reaction closely
Damon’s face remained impassive, like he was listening to a story that had nothing to do with him.
So, I cut to the chase. "After they terminate our contract, they’ll cooperate with Soul Enterprises. Are you involved in this?"
After I finished speaking, Damon gave me a long, hard look with deep, complex eyes.
The atmosphere became so thick that I could cut it with a knife. Just as I was about to break the silence, he spoke, "Eliana, are you accusing me of deliberately targeting your family?"
"Isn’t that the case?" I shot back immediately.
But Mr. Andrew told me it was all Damon’s doing.
Damon smirked, "Is that what you think of me, Eliana? That I’m so lowly I could do anything despicable?"
Isn’t he? I wanted to rebut instantly, but I held my tongue
Evidently, my words had pissed Damon off because I was questioning his integrity.
"With the resources your family has, you shouldn’t lose to Soul Enterprises. Won’t your dad step in?" Damon suddenly brought up my father.
"I can’t let him meddle in business matters; it’s too easy for him to slip up. He’s about to retire: there is no need for him to take such risks," I confessed.
Damon’s lips curled into a small smile, "You guys really stick to your guns, huh?
