Chapter 195: Chapter 191

"What on earth are you thinking about while driving? Dreaming about Jones?" Damon had no intention of leaving. He leaned on the car window and stared at me with cold and mocking eyes.

"He’s my boyfriend. It’s normal to miss him."

Damon scoffed, "Already head over heels for him?"

"Jealous much? Aren’t you afraid your girlfriend will find out?" I was a bit moody, and my words were laced with sarcasm, "Oh, right. She’s too busy scheming to ruin our family."

Damon raised an eyebrow, "Are you scared of her?"

"She’s smart and resourceful. Plus, she’s got you, her manipulative boyfriend to back her up. Why wouldn’t I be?" I pushed the car door open.

Damon finally let go, and I got out of the car.

Damon was driving a Bentley today. Luckily, I was driving slowly near my house, so I only scratched the paint a little

After checking, I asked Damon, "How do you want to handle this?"

"Shouldn’t I be asking you that?" Damon touched the scratched tail of my car There seemed to be a crack in the light, too

"Do you want the insurance company to handle it, or do you want to settle this privately?"-

He turned to me,

I obviously chose to settle it privately. I didn’t want to make things complicated.

"We can handle it ourselves. How much do you need?" I grabbed my phone from the car. "I’ll transfer it to you."

Damon watched my efficient move, and his face suddenly had a cold expression, "I’ll let you know after I get it fixed."

I didn’t care. I got back into the car and parked it in front of my house. My car needed to be fixed too

However, I bought this affordable sedan specifically for work. The repair fee shouldn’t be too expensive.

Just as I got home, my dad asked, "Did Damon move next door? I didn’t see him when I got home, but I recognized his car. Is it him?"

"Yes."I nodded.

"That cheeky brat!" My dad suddenly ran out with a broom from our yard, storming towards Damon’s villa.

My dad’s temper was really something, especially when it came to me. He cared a lot.

I quickly caught up with him and dragged him back home.

"Dad, what are you doing?" I asked helplessly

"I want to ask him what the hell he’s thinking. Is he doing this on purpose?" Dad was nothing like his usual composed, scholarly self. He was like an old man who’d lost his marbles.

I patted his chest to calm him down, "Dad, let’s not stoop down to his level. I’ve told Mom that if he really starts harassing me, I’ll move out. He won’t be able to find me"

My dad took a deep breath, "I heard he’s getting engaged to that Ariel?"

"Yes, so there’s no need to worry." I answered.

"Ariel is not a good person." Dad frowned, "She’s trying to get Lewis out of jail, but I’ve arranged for someone to keep an eye on him. There’s no way he’s getting out!"

Lewis had already turned himself in, and Ariel was still trying to help him escape?

It seemed like she was really afraid that Lewis wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure and would spill her secrets

I sighed, "It’s not just about helping Lewis. She and her godmother even started a company called Soul Enterprises. Their main business is exactly the same as ours, and their office is even near our headquarters."

Dad must have already known about this. A company that big would need a series of approvals. Dad must have known earlier than Mom and I.

A look of worry appeared on his face, "I know, but there’s nothing wrong with their procedures. There’s nothing we can do."

I looked at my dad who had raised me. His temples were already gray. He had been honest all his life, and all the wealth in our family was created by my mom.

He was about to retire soon. It wasn’t right to let him deal with Ariel.

"Dad, don’t worry too much. Companies are established and closed down every day. We just need to work hard." I comforted my dad.

Dad nodded, "You’re night!"

The fact that I could easily calm my parents down was mainly because I was now with Jones and Damon had Ariel, so they didn’t have to worry so much.

No matter what happens in the future, we will face it together as a family.

Five days later.

Luna, Clara, and Sofia all called me. Their messages were pretty much the same.

Soul Enterprises had opened. They mainly invited some of the elite in the city to attend the opening ceremony and cocktail party

Although their parents could choose not to go, they would probably attend.

Ariel had some nerves. She even sent an invitation to my house.

After she returned to the country, she held a second banquet, obviously trying to introduce her new sale to everyone.

When my mom received the invitation, she didn’t throw it away or refuse it. "Let’s go. We can’t avoid this."

This was business, it wasn’t personal it couldn’t be handled casually.

"I’ll go with you," I said.

"Do you want to go?" Mom asked worriedly

"Yeah, I want to see." I nodded. Even if I didn’t want to. I had to go. I was the only child in the family. If the company needed me to manage it in the future, I couldn’t stay ignorant.

Mom smiled.

I used to hate doing business and didn’t want

I join the company. Now that I had changed, both Mom and Dad were happy.

Soul Enterprises’ opening was at ten o’clock the day after tomorrow. My mom and I prepared to go directly

"Mrs. Brooks, you’re here!" After seeing my mom, Nancy came up to greet us.

"Congratulations" Mom’s attitude was not warm. She just smiled faintly and shook hands with Nancy.

We deliberately didn’t rush to the ribbon-cutting ceremony. We just wanted to see who came to the cocktail party to understand Nancy and Ariel’s connections.

Following my mom, Nancy smiled and said, "Ms. Brooks, I might have been a bit presumptuous when I came to see you recently. I hope you don’t mind."

"It’s okay "I smiled, sounding a bit cold.

At this moment, Ariel sauntered over. She wasn’t dressed to the nines today, instead, she wore a simple white dress. Her hair was back to the straight and long style of her past, and she hadn’t put on any makeup. She looked innocent and pure, reminding people of her college days.

Karen was following Ariel. I don’t know why, but I always felt that even though she was Nancy’s flesh and blood, she didn’t seem to be as favored as Ariel

Despite this, Karen didn’t show any resentment. On the contrary, she always took on the responsibility of being Ariel’s older sister.

"Eliana, Mrs. Brooks, you’re here," Ariel, arm in arm with Nancy, said affectionately.

She quickly turned her head and called out, "Damon, I’m over here!"
