Chapter 192: Chapter 188

I held onto Jones’s hand tight, nuzzling into his arm, as we walked out of the restaurant.

I didn’t give a hoot about the burning stares coming from behind us.

As we were about to hop into Jones’s car, he got a call from the hospital. There was an emergency that needed his attention.

"Go! Work comes first!" I urged him immediately

"I’ll have James come pick me up."

Since I came with Sofia, I had to either call a taxi or have someone pick me up.

Jones looked back at the restaurant entrance with worry, I reassured him, "Don’t worry, I won’t exchange more than a word with him."

"Good, because I’ll get jealous." Jones was pretty straightforward about this, never beating around the bush

I found it refreshing.

"Alright, go to the hospital," I replied.

But Jones suddenly leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. I was taken aback and completely unprepared.

"I’m off to work now. Text me when you get home" Jones said with a wide grin, seeing that I didn’t reject him or show any signs of disgust.

I touched my face, feeling a little embarrassed. All I did was nod, no words were spoken.

As I watched Jones speed off to the hospital, I finally pulled out my phone to call James to come get me.

James had just dropped my dad off at a meeting, and it would take him more than half an hour to come get me.

"If I weren’t already at work, I’d hire another driver for my dad, and you could keep being my personal chauffeur," I sighed.

Since I was just an ordinary worker, having a personal driver wouldn’t be appropriate.

"Miss Brooks, please wait a bit, I’ll try to be there as soon as I can". James replied.

"No need; I’ll just take a taxi," I quickly stopped James. "Wait for my dad there."

James always respected my decisions. The only time he kept something from me was when Damon was hospitalized, and he didn’t tell me about the calls from Luna and the others.

But I could understand. He probably didn’t want me to get involved with Damon again.

After hanging up. I stood by the side of the road, trying to hail a taxi. But it was a weekend, so there weren’t many taxis available. I had to wait.

"Eliana!"

Ariel’s voice came from behind me, and I turned around.

She was still holding onto Damon’s hand as if she were afraid that he’d run away. The smile on her face was obviously forced. She walked up to me and asked, "Where’s Dr. Jones? Why did he leave you here alone?"

"He went to work." I answered, cold and indifferent

"I heard you’re working now too." Ariel seemed to remember something. She turned to Damon and said in a coquettish voice, "Damon, my mom, sister, and I have decided to start our own company. I heard Eliana’s family is in the makeup business, so we’re planning to do the same. I’m a newbie, so you’ll have to help me, okay?"

My family indeed ran a makeup business. We started as a distributor, but then we grew and started our own brand. We’ve been doing pretty well.

So Ariel was planning to compete with us?

"Sure, let me know if you need any help." Damon responded gently after catching Ariel’s gaze.

His mood was a bit erratic. I noticed that he was sometimes cold and sometimes warm towards Ariel.

But Ariel was easily pleased. As long as Damon responded to her, she would beam with happiness.

"Eliana, you won’t mind, right? I didn’t intend to open a makeup company to challenge your family’s business. It’s just that Damon told me that he knows a lot about this field since he used to be with you... Anyway, I’m just following his advice". Ariel said, trailing off. i couldn’t help but laugh at her

Her words made Damon’s previously gentle expression turn cold.

The Coleman family had many businesses, with headquarters and branches all over the country and even worldwide. They were involved in heavy and light industries and even had a hand in the entertainment industry. That was why Damon was so popular in the entertainment circle.

But the Coleman family didn’t deal with makeup.

So what was Ariel babbling about? Was she using Damon to provoke me on purpose?

"Ariel, you should do some research before starting a business?" I advised her

"What?" Ariel was taken aback.

"When did Damon start understanding the makeup business? Can’t you at least consider reality when you lie?"

Ariel looked surprised and then embarrassed. She quickly glanced at Damon, hoping he wouldn’t deny her request.

Damon stared at me, his dense eyelashes and deep eyes were captivating

After a while, he wrapped his arm around Ariel’s waist, but his smile was a bit distant. "Just because I’m not in this business doesn’t mean I don’t understand it. I’ll support whatever you want to do."

Indeed, with the Coleman family’s extensive connections, they would certainly have an understanding of this field.

"I knew you were the best!" Ariel sighed with relief, the worry was now gone from her face. She stood on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on Damon’s face.

Damon’s brow furrowed but smoothed out when he met my gaze. He leaned down and returned the kiss on Ariel’s face.

The two of them were clearly showing off their affection in front of me, but I wouldn’t be easily provoked.

Just then, the taxi I hailed arrived. I said to Damon and Ariel, "Alright, I wish you success in your business and happiness in your love!"

With that, I got into the taxi and left.

Once in the car, I sent a text to Jones and then closed my eyes to rest.

After a while, the driver suddenly asked, "Miss, do you know the car behind us? Are they looking for you?"

I opened my eyes and looked at the car behind us through the rear view mirror. Damon’s Maybach was very noticeable, especially the license plate.

The driver seemed nervous. "You got in, and this car started following us. Do you have any personal grudges?"

"Don’t worry, he’s a friend. We don’t have any beef." I reassured the driver.

"That’s good," The driver nodded.

I didn’t know why Damon followed me here, and Ariel wasn’t even in the car. As soon as I left, they split.

When the taxi stopped at my place, I saw Damon’s car parked not too far away.

This was odd. I remember telling the property security not to let Damon into this area.

"Damon, what the hell are you doing here?" I asked crankily

I live in a villa area where each villa has its own parking spot and an underground garage. At this point, Damon’s car was parked in my neighbor’s spot.

Damon got out. He was very tall, and when he talked, he slightly lowered his head, which was a bit intimidating.

"What’s the matter? Do I need your permission to go home?" He asked coldly.

"Home?" I was a bit taken aback.

Damon didn’t answer me. He just walked to the neighbor’s front door, and a servant promptly opened the door for him. He didn’t just go in; instead, he turned around and asked me, "Want to come in for a drink to celebrate us being neighbors?"
