"I’ve sent you his number, remember to save it." I immediately sent Damon’s number to Ivy

Ivy was thrilled. "Awesome! Thanks!"

If she could help me out with Damon, I should be the one thanking her

Just then, some of Ivy’s friends found her, so she said goodbye and left

I stood alone on the street for a while, reluctant to go back and continue drinking. So I shot a message to Luna and the gang in our group chat, then called James to pick me up.

"Miss, are you alone?" As I was waiting for James, a few young lads swarmed over, grinning and asking me questions.

I shot them a glance and immediately took a few steps back.

Then Lewis showed up, rubbing his bald head and showing his hypocritical smile, "You’re Ms. Brooks, right? Let me introduce myself. I’m Lewis."

Lewis obviously came for me, but I couldn’t understand why. The last time his men hit my car, the police didn’t have enough evidence to nab him. Even though he was a small-time punk, he was pretty good at dodging jail time.

Damon had pulled some strings to get those two punks to snitch on Lewis, but because his methods were unorthodox the evidence handed to the police may not hold water and could even backfire.

"Lewis, what do you want with me?" I asked coolly. We were on a busy street with surveillance cameras everywhere. He couldn’t possibly do anything to me in broad daylight.

"I’m flattered that Ms. Brooks would recognize a nobody like me" Lewis grinned, "Since fate brought us together, why don’t we grab a coffee? I’d like to get, to know you"

I frowned, and my gaze darted towards the entrance of Cielo Nocturno. If Luna and the others came out looking for me right now, I might be able to ditch him.

But I had already sent a message saying I was heading home, so they wouldn’t come looking for me

"Lewis, if you have something to say, spit it out. My friend’s on her way to pick me up. As for the coffee, let’s take a rain check. I’ll treat you next time." I said with a smile.

"It has to be today. I know a place that serves killer coffee. It’d be a waste not to go. Ms. Brooks, my cars over there, shall we?" Lewis pointed to a car parked by the curb

If I refused, he might resort to violence to get me in the car. He was a notorious scumbag, not giving a damn about what people thought about him.

"Alright, let’s grab that coffee"I scanned the area. With so many cameras around, if I disappeared, the cops would be able to find me easily. Plus, James would be here soon. If she couldn’t find me and couldn’t reach me, she would know that something was up.

Right now, not doing as Lewis said might only add fuel to the fire.

Once in the car. Lewis made a call while sitting next to me, "We’ve got her. Don’t worry I’ll handle it just fine."

I faintly heard a woman’s voice on the other end.

"Lewis, we don’t really cross paths. Why are you inviting me for coffee? Can you tell me who you’re working for?" I asked.

"Ms. Brooks, I know who your father is. I don’t want to cross him. But I had no choice; doing shady stuff for others is my job." Lewis chuckled, showing off his disgusting yellow teeth.

I kept my cool. "So the car accident last time was also part of your job, right?"

Lewis was a bold one. He laughed, "Yes, but everyone’s got a backer. I’ve got mine now, so I’m not scared."

His frankness about his crimes made me uneasy

Crooks usually reveal secrets like this only when they plan to eliminate witnesses.

He was not planning to kill me, was he? I started to get nervous

After a while, the car stopped at the foot of a hill.

I was led up a hill by Lewis’s men. There was an abandoned villa on top. Under the lights on both sides of the road, I could see the crumbling walls of the villa

Suddenly, I remembered Steve. Wasn’t he also kidnapped by Lewis? He was found in an abandoned villa. Was this the same place?

Before I could figure it out, I was taken into the villa. A cloth was pressed over my mouth and nose, and I passed out quickly.

"You did well this time, or I wouldn’t have paid you"

I regained a bit of consciousness in my daze and heard Ariel’s voice.

Her voice was sometimes near, sometimes far, "Remember to inform Jones"

My eyelids felt heavy, I couldn’t open them, but I heard everything. All the things that happened before were Ariel’s acts of revenge

She was ruthless. She showed no mercy to Joshua, Steve, or me.

Damon was the one who caused her misery. Why didn’t she go after him?

"Eliana, I won’t let Damon come back to you. He’s mine." Ariel’s voice suddenly seemed closer, as if she were right next to me.

"Jones likes you too, right? There will be a good show when he comes."

I didn’t know what Ariel was talking about. All I could feel was someone covering my mouth and pouring water into it.

Then Ariel told Lewis, "If word gets out, you know what to do. If I get implicated in any way you won’t get a dime, and you’ll go to jail. Got it?"

Lewis was very obedient in front of Ariel, "Got it, I know what to do?

As they chatted, I felt a peculiar warmth in my belly. I immediately guessed what they had just made me drink.

Ariel had come up with such a disgusting plot to make Damon give up on me for good. It was revolting!

Ariel must be bailed already, leaving only Lewis and his crew here. Someone caressed my face, laughing with a crude grin, "Boss, can we have a taste of her first?"

"Shut your trap! Do you seriously think we can mess with her old man? If you so much as touch her, you’re toast, moron! Once this is all over, the dough you’re getting from Ms. Ariel will be more than enough for you to live it up abroad!" Lewis snapped angrily

It seemed that Ariel had paid them a fortune, enough to risk hurting me.
