Chapter 182: Chapter 178
"What did you say? Eliana, don’t think I won’t slap you" Nicole was all fired up, seemingly bothered by me calling her Ariel’s lapdog.
My friends, hearing Nicole’s outburst, gathered around
"You think we wouldn’t slap you too?" Sofia rolled up her sleeves
Nick looked helpless. As a guy, he shouldn’t get involved in a catfight, but Nicole was his girlfriend, and we were all acquainted with him.
He pulled Nicole behind him, "Enough, enough We’re all friends here Can we stop this hostility?"
"Nick, are you blind? Why would you pick her as your girlfriend? She has no conscience, do you have one?" Luna bluntly asked.
Nick’s face changed slightly. He awkwardly chuckled, not responding.
Nicole was at her breaking point. She was the one who persistently went after Nick, and now Luna was saying she didn’t deserve him?
"Say that again? Nicole pointed at Luna, her eyes blazing.
Tension was in the air. Some staff had come over to try to defuse the situation.
"Nicole, what’s wrong?" Suddenly Ariel’s voice chimed in. Her eyes were red and swollen as if she’d just been crying. She looked at us, puzzled.
Karen was in the same state. They probably just got back from the cemetery.
I had to admire Ariel. She really considered herself Catherine.
"Ariel, Karen, are you okay?" Nicole immediately asked with concern as soon as she saw them.
Karen shook her head. "We’re fine, just a little upset. What’s going on between you and them "
She glanced at me, her distaste for me apparent in her eyes.
Nicole immediately felt bolstered, "Nick and I came here to wait for you guys, but we ran into Eliana. They have no manners, even openly insulted me, calling me a bitch!"
At that moment, a woman nearby spoke up, "It was you who started it all with your ranting, disturbing them. Isn’t that why they said those things about you?"
I turned to look at the woman. She had short hair with purple highlights, silver earrings, and a nose ring, giving her a rebellious look.
Seeing me look at her, she gave me a smile
I inexplicably liked her appearance, so I returned her smile with a grateful one.
Nicole was at a loss for words after being exposed by the short–haired woman
"Nicole, it’s fine. Let’s just drop it" Ariel wiped her eyes and put on a magnanimous face.
Karen checked the time and urged. "Ariel, let’s go. My mom and Damon are waiting for us"
She emphasized Damon’s name as if afraid I wouldn’t hear it clearly
Ariel nodded and took Nicole’s hand, "Nicole, why don’t you and Nick come with us? We can all have dinner together."
"Sure!" Nicole cheered up immediately, "After all, Nick and Damon are good friends. It’s just like a friends’ get–together!"
Nick gave me an apologetic look, seemingly helpless
After Ariel and her group left, Luna couldn’t hold back, "What the hell is Damon up to? Is he getting back together with Ariel?"
I shrugged, replying nonchalantly. "Who knows?"
Despite his apparent dislike for Ariel, he could still go with her to pay respects to Catherine and then have a casual dinner with her. I suddenly remembered the scene a few days ago when Damon asked me for one more chance. It was ridiculous.
If I had agreed to him, wouldn’t I be the joke of the century now?
"Coleman Co. and Horizon Enterprises used to collaborate, and they even almost worked on a project together, but due to some issues, it fell through. Damon and Andrew should know each other, so inviting his wife and daughter for a meal seems normal?" Clara said.
I wasn’t very clear about these things. I used to only care about my love life, so I didn’t know much about either my company or Coleman Co
But I was inexplicably upset now. Thinking about what happened between Damon and me a few days ago, I felt played.
"I’m going home" I told Luna and the others
"Give me a lift" Luna immediately caught up with Lily in her arms, "Mitch is busy today He can’t pick me up"
So, I drove Luna home. Clara and Sofia each took their cars. After the four of us parted ways, I headed for Luna’s house.
I was pretty quiet on the way. Luna broke the silence. "Eliana, you seemed upset after hearing that Damon was waiting for Ariel, didn’t you?"
Among my three friends, Luna knew me the best and was the most direct with me.
"Not at all. I’m just a bit tired and want to go to sleep". I denied.
"Don’t lie to me," Luna didn’t buy it, "I can tell something’s off by the look on your face. You’re not telling me, right?"
Just as she finished speaking, my phone rang. It was a call from Damon.
Without a second thought, I hung up.
After hanging up four or five calls in a row, I turned off my phone. I didn’t want to hear Damon’s crap. If he was going to have dinner with Ariel and her group, why would he still have time to contact me?
As soon as I turned off my phone, Luna’s phone rang.
Again, it was Damon.
"What do you want?" Luna answered on speakerphone
"Is Eliana with you?" Damon asked.
"Do you have a split personality? Waiting for Ariel on one hand and contacting Eliana on the other?" Luna cursed, "Bastard! Leave Eliana alone! Since things between you and Ariel are unclear, stop bothering her"
Damon paused for a moment, then asked, somewhat speechless, "I’m waiting for Ariel to have dinner together. Who said that?"
"Cut the act. Weren’t you just worshiping at the altar of Catherine today? Damon, you told Mitch you regretted it and wanted to make it up to Eliana. All lies, huh?" Luna’s anger grew with every word she said. Finally, she just started cursing. "You jerk! Stay the hell away from her".
I listened to their conversation without uttering a word
Before Damon could explain, Luna had already hung up. She turned to me and said, "Eliana, don’t you listen to Damons crap. He’s not trying to make things right with you, he’s just playing your*
"Don’t worry, I’m not that naive," I laughed, "My mom wants me to start working at her company in a few days. I’ll be a working woman then, won’t have much time to think about all this."
"Good," Luna breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, her eyes caught something in the distance, "Isn’t that Jones standing in front of my house?"
I took a closer look, and it was indeed him. Jones was chatting with Mitch about something. He looked noticeably more run–down than he was a few days ago
