Chapter 378: Chapter 376: Baby Can’t Hear
Qin Zhao and Shangguan Qiu found the hotel’s security personnel and checked the hallway surveillance footage.
The video showed a local man, his face concealed, arriving at the door of the room that afternoon and hanging up a black plastic bag containing a dead rat.
The hotel’s elevators required a room card to operate, and this man had come up the stairs. When he arrived, the fire escape door just happened to be open.
Even with the surveillance footage, it was actually of no significance.
Judging by his attire, he appeared to be a common migrant worker in Chiang Mai. Qin Zhao had never had contact with such people, and it was impossible for them to know her room so clearly.
Someone must have instructed him to hang the dead rat at her room’s door.
The hotel staff had cleaned up the doorway for Qin Zhao and even offered to change her room, but Qin Zhao did not switch; she didn’t mind if they came looking for her again.
These days, if there was still something that could scare her, it must be formidable.
As she reached the door of her room, Qin Zhao’s steps suddenly paused.
"What’s wrong?" asked Shangguan Qiu.
"It’s nothing," she replied.
Though she said that, Qin Zhao’s eyes suddenly turned icy cold.
She motioned for Shangguan Qiu to step back as she cautiously opened the door.
"Zhaozhao."
The moment she entered, she was embraced in a hug.
Qin Zhao stiffened, smelling the familiar crisp scent on him, and then she relaxed.
"Why are you here?" she asked, looking up at Chu Yan, her mouth twitching slightly.
She had thought there was some villain hiding in the room, preparing to attack...
"I made something delicious," said Chu Yan, lifting the lunchbox in his hand.
With that, no more questions needed to be asked.
Qin Zhao and Shangguan Qiu explained briefly, then closed the room door and began their delightful meal. Initially somewhat annoyed that he had come over without a call, her temper dissolved as she ate.
"How did you get in just now?"
"The cleaner was here, and I sneaked in. I wanted to surprise you."
"It definitely was a surprise."
Qin Zhao continued to eat, then suddenly remembered, "Didn’t you say the other day that you wouldn’t cook for me?"
It had been a long while since she had eaten anything made by Chu Yan.
Since that day when Chu Yan suspected he might be infected with AIDS, he had never cooked again. Qin Zhao had only been able to eat takeout or the bland food she made herself, so she particularly missed this meal.
"I’m not busy now, so I can cook for you," he said.
Today, Chu Yan had taken full protective measures while cooking to ensure he would not cut himself or let any blood drop onto the food, which had taken a long time to prepare.
Thinking about the process of cooking, his expression grew a bit melancholic.
He didn’t know how much longer he would live.
Given the current level of medical care, AIDS was simply incurable.
If he became seriously ill later, requiring others to take care of him, he wouldn’t want to trouble Qin Zhao. Instead, he’d rather die earlier and become a ghost to accompany her.
"Qin Zhao, you should treasure these days I cook for you."
Out of nowhere, he came up with this statement.
Qin Zhao paused her eating, suddenly remembering the infectious disease.
She struggled to suppress her laughter and asked, "Why do you say that? Are you saying you won’t cook for me anymore?"
"Possibly."
"Are you going to cook for another woman?"
"No."
Qin Zhao’s face filled with anger, while he looked utterly sorrowful and was on the verge of tears.
Chu Yan walked over to the window and stood there, sighing every three seconds.
He thought to himself that coming to Chiang Mai to find Qin Zhao was not some capricious act. After all, he was close to death, and he wanted to spend the last part of his life with the person he loved.
"Have you been troubled by something lately?"
"No, I just want to spend more time with you."
Qin Zhao nearly died laughing, but she still didn’t tell him the truth!
-
That night, while Qin Zhao was washing up, Chu Yan went out for a while.
In the woods behind the hotel, Chu Yan carried several boxes of fragrant packed meals.
Tengshe, the little snake, stood in front of him, continually swallowing saliva.
"I’ll give you all these to eat if you help me scare a few people."
"No problem!"
Tengshe snatched the packed meals and began gobbling them down.
Chu Yan told Tengshe the room number of Murong Qi and instructed him to hurry up and scare people after he finished eating.
"How shall I scare them?"
"As terrifying as you can make it. It would be perfect if you could make that woman lose face in public."
Tengshe was still smacking his lips eating, when Chu Yan impatiently kicked him, "Hurry up and go."
"I got it, huh!"
The little snake toddled towards the hotel.
He quickly located the room of Murong Qi and Jesida.
As he lay by the window, there came bursts of intense shouts and noise from inside.
His little cheeks even turned red.
"Baby shouldn’t listen."
Tengshe covered his little ears.
With his green vertical pupils, he looked into the room and saw two bodies overturning heaven and earth on the bed.
Tengshe covered his own eyes.
"Ow!"
The Divine Beast let out a loud cry, and the bed inside the room shook several times. The bedside table and the chandelier were blown down by a strange wind.
The two on the bed stopped their movements and looked out of the window.
They only saw the curtain depicting an enormous snake, opening its bloody mouth wide.
"Ah!"
Murong Qi screamed, and the window glass shattered.
Several shadows quickly darted inside, and Murong Qi and Jesida both jumped off the bed, running towards the door without their clothes, instinctively.
A chill and a sticky touch came from her back.
Murong Qi turned her head and saw two venomous snakes squatting on her shoulder, their red tongues sliding over her face before opening their fangs.
"Help! Please, save me!"
She screamed frantically and fell to the ground.
As for her boyfriend Jesida, he had already run off without a trace.
"Save me!"
Murong Qi felt the snakes starting to rip into her flesh, the pain was so intense it made her scalp go numb and tears streamed down her face. She didn’t even notice she wasn’t wearing any clothes as she lay on the ground, screaming loudly.
Other guests in the vicinity heard the noise and started to open their doors.
"My goodness, what is she doing?"
"It looks like she’s in trouble, she was screaming for help a moment ago."
"Where’s the danger? There’s no one there!"
"Really shameful, running out without any clothes."
"Tsk tsk, she does have a nice figure, could she have just finished with someone?"
The other guests saw Murong Qi, but they saw no snakes, only a disheveled, undressed woman lying on the ground, constantly writhing.
Women looked at her with disdain.
While the men, upon seeing this scene, many took out their cell phones to take pictures, and some began to tease Murong Qi.
Murong Qi’s face flushed red, she touched herself and indeed found no snakes. She turned to look back at her room, and there were no snakes there either.
How could this be?
She had clearly seen several snakes crawling on her body just moments ago!
That sticky, icy touch made her shudder, and she would never forget it!
