Chapter 263: Chapter 260: Discovering the Truth
"Is your death related to them?"
As soon as Qin Zhao had asked this, Yao Tengyu’s expression subtly changed.
He nervously glanced at the silhouette of Yao Chengshan outside the door and whispered to them, "Don’t ask anymore. I’m already dead, and how I died doesn’t matter now. I don’t want my dad to know.
I just want him to see her true face and leave this place quickly, so he won’t get hurt."
Qin Zhao and Shangguan Jing exchanged a look. They both guessed the truth—it was very likely Yao Tengyu’s mother, together with her lover, had killed her own son.
Outside, Yao Chengshan suddenly stood up.
"Sit here for a while. I’m going to take a walk."
He said with a hoarse voice.
Once Yao Chengshan left, Qin Zhao and the others knew without guessing that he must be going to the hospital.
"I need to follow my dad."
Yao Tengyu, worried about him, let his soul drift away.
The woman’s illness wasn’t severe; she was hospitalized to avoid going home and to have secret meetings with her lover at the hospital. Yao Tengyu once went to the hospital to find her and saw her with her lover.
Yao Chengshan arrived at the hospital and saw his wife, Li Yun. But he didn’t enter the room, simply standing a short distance away, looking at his wife through the open door.
Li Yun was in good spirits; she was alone in the hospital room, the other two beds empty.
Yao Chengshan stood outside for a long time, still unable to believe that his wife could betray him.
Or rather, he didn’t want to believe it.
After a while, Li Yun received a phone call.
A man with a slicked-back hairstyle approached from the elevator and entered her room.
Yao Chengshan recognized this man; his name was Le Dakui. He had always enjoyed dating girlfriends when he was younger and had never married as he aged, preferring to dress sharply and strut around the village.
Le Dakui walked into the room and closed the door behind him.
Yao Chengshan hesitated for a moment, then approached the door of the room and pressed his ear against it.
He had no dealings with this Le Dakui, and Li Yun hadn’t known him before, so why was Le Dakui here to visit her? Yao Chengshan’s suspicion grew.
"Is it done? He hasn’t come to see me in several days."
Li Yun asked Le Dakui excitedly upon seeing him.
"No, Yao Chengshan is really lucky; he’s narrowly escaped several times!"
Le Dakui frowned, feeling as though something was mysteriously helping Yao Chengshan.
Li Yun looked disappointed. She had been separated from her husband for years, sometimes not seeing him once in a year, and her feelings had long faded. Le Dakui told her that a man who goes out to work will certainly find another woman.
She believed this without doubt, and so she had an affair at home as well.
Now that her son was dead, she wanted to get her hands on Yao Chengshan’s savings and then divorce him!
"Can you stay and keep me company tonight?"
Li Yun suddenly asked Le Dakui.
"Have you gone mad? What if he sees us?"
"I keep dreaming about Xiaoyu every night since I’ve been sleeping. His body is covered in blood, and he tells me his death was so tragic. I’m the only one in this hospital room; I’m scared!
Stay with me, he won’t come. He said he has an important job these days and is always busy outside."
Le Dakui laughed, "I have to say, you’re quite ruthless as a mother. Actually being able to smother your own son to death, but it’s good he’s dead, no more trouble.
All of Yao Chengshan’s money is yours, and having a son also doesn’t bode well for remarrying."
Li Yun’s complexion changed drastically, "Stop talking! If he hadn’t found out about you, would I have helped you kill him? He threatened to call the police and expose our affair. If this got out, how could I face anyone!"
Some people in the village could tell there was something off between her and Le Dakui, but most were still in the dark. Moreover, Yao Tengyu had even threatened to send them to jail, and Li Yun did not want to see the inside of a cell.
In a moment of impulse, she had helped Le Dakui.
Just as she finished speaking, there was a loud bang at the door.
Yao Chengshan kicked the door open, his eyes bloodshot red.
Like a crazed beast, he stared deathly at the two of them, "So it was you who killed Xiaoyu! Xiaoyu didn’t drown at all! Li Yun! He was your own flesh and blood, even tigers don’t eat their offspring, how could you be so cruel!"
Yao Chengshan charged over, knocking Le Dakui to the ground with a punch.
Then, he swung his fists at Li Yun, who was on the bed.
"You’re so cruel! You wretch! Give me back my son! How could you kill your own flesh and blood, you’re not human, you’re not a person! I’m going to kill you, to avenge my son!"
"Ah! Help! Dakui, save me!"
Punch after punch, Yao Chengshan turned Li Yun’s face into a bloody mess.
"Xiaoyu, Xiaoyu, wuuu, my son."
Yao Chengshan had completely lost his reason, his mind filled with the image of his son’s burial.
He was only fifteen years old! Yet he had been killed by his own mother!
Le Dakui had intended to pull Yao Chengshan away, but Yao Chengshan, like a rabid wolf, was immensely strong, and he beat him too, wishing he could just kill them both on the spot.
Realizing he was no match for Yao Chengshan, Le Dakui dropped Li Yun and ran.
It was then a nurse from the hospital discovered what was happening and called several security guards to pull Yao Chengshan away.
"Let me go, she killed my son! I must avenge my son!"
When Yao Tengyu arrived at the hospital, and saw Yao Chengshan beating Li Yun while crying his name, he knew Yao Chengshan had learned the truth.
"Dad! Don’t be sad! I’m alright, I’ve been by your side the whole time!"
Yao Tengyu, seeing his father in despair, quickly went to comfort him.
No one else could see souls, only Yao Chengshan could.
"Xiaoyu, wuuu, Dad is sorry! Dad should never have left you with this vicious woman! Dad is sorry, Dad will kowtow to apologize!"
"Dad! You haven’t wronged me!"
With a thud, Yao Chengshan suddenly knelt down.
Everyone stood stunned, watching him talk to the air and kneel before it, calling his son’s name, and they felt a chill run down their spines.
Li Yun had long since passed out and thus did not witness this scene.
Soon after, the police arrived.
What was thought to be a typical domestic violence case turned on its head when Yao Chengshan directly accused Li Yun of killing their son. Yet, as Li Yun was the victim’s mother, no one believed him.
Not only that, Yao Tengyu had been buried a long time ago, and no relevant evidence could be found.
Meanwhile, Le Dakui had run out of the hospital.
Qin Zhao happened to follow suit; although Yao Tengyu did not want Yao Chengshan to know the truth, those who had killed him still needed to be punished, they couldn’t get away with it scot-free.
Just as she arrived at the hospital, she saw a wounded man running out.
Qin Zhao saw the karma on him and immediately caught Le Dakui.
As the police were about to take Yao Chengshan to the station, Qin Zhao walked Le Dakui towards the police car.
"He’s one of the culprits."
