The Reaper's Wicked Obsession
Chapter 79: A Friend

Chapter 79: A Friend

Kraven rose to his feet, crossing his arms, and leaned against the tree.

"Don’t think I’ll save you the second time. I’m more inclined to watch you struggle," he mused, enjoying the sight before him.

It baffled him that she’d go to such lengths to save a ravenite—who had treated her as a cheater.

Isadora ignored him as she tried to climb, but her hands would give out each time because of the quivers.

"You’re wasting your time, love."

"Go away!" she yelled.

"I saved your life, love, the least you can do is thank me first."

She turned back to him and glared daggers. "I’d rather be hung back on that tree with her!"

A dangerous glint shone in his eyes. "Wonderful, let’s make that happen then... I was enjoying the sight after all." He pushed off the tree and strode toward her.

Isadora panicked as she took steps backward, but her back met the tree leaving her trapped. She forced her chin up, locking eyes with him.

A smirk played on his lips as he stared down at her, with his hand holding the ropes. The glint in his eyes told her he’d enjoy every thought of her struggles.

"I enjoy the sight of you tied up," he purred. Picturing the scene he met, and eager to recreate it. In his own way.

She swallowed a lump in her throat, shaken by his words. "Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?"

"She’s dying," she said in a whisper on the verge of tears.

Kraven tilted his head to the side, observing as her head hung low and her body trembled.

His jaw tightened. "Why do you care, Isadora?"

"Because..." She sniffled. "She saved my life. I don’t care about the reasons but she saved me." She looked up at him with tears gushing out.

A frown took over Kraven’s features, hating the look instantly. It repulsed him. He preferred her anger and fury. This was... unsettling.

"It’s the most anyone has done for me... she’s a friend."

"Friend," he said. "I understood that... once."

Isadora stared up at him with narrowed eyes. Did he mean Rav? She couldn’t be sure, but the look in his eyes was distant, as if his mind had wandered to a memory and it made her wonder what history such a man like he could have.

A smirk suddenly took over his lips. "My little bunny has a friend."

The ropes binding Vanya, suddenly cut loose, and her body dropped to the ground.

Isadora quickly rushed to her side and kneeled, she held her small frame to her body as she sobbed.

"T-Thank you," she whispered.

"Don’t thank me, love, I don’t want words."

Of course, he wanted something in return. He didn’t do this out of the kindness of his heart.

"What do you want?"

He placed a finger on his stretched lips. "Shhh... don’t spoil the fun, love. Just know you owe me a wish."

She sighed heavily, the last thing she wanted was to owe him something but if it weren’t for him there was no way she could’ve made it to Vanya in time.

"Okay," she mumbled, glancing back at Vanya to check if she was still breathing.

A wave of relief washed over her when she saw that she was.

"She’ll die anyway."

"I won’t let that happen," Isadora replied, staring at her quivering hands.

Even though she couldn’t heal her completely she would nurse her back to health herself.

"You have two days left."

"I’ll survive." She turned her stern eyes to him. "That is what you want isn’t it, you don’t wish me dead... yet."

Kraven chuckled softly, amused and pleased she was getting to understand what her life meant to him. There was no greater joy than a prey recognizing its fate.

He walked toward her, crouching to her height. Brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, he asked, "Why?" He felt the texture of hair with his thumb.

Isadora knew what his question was without thinking twice.

"Because I want to earn it..."

"I gave you that braid as a gift, it’s an insult to me, love," he said. "You rejected my gift."

Isadora moved her face away from his touch, not sparing him another glance.

"We’ll deal with that later... I don’t take kindly to insults," he said, gripping her bun so that she looked at him.

He leaned closer so his lips were close to her ears. "Tell me, love, how are my babies doing?"

’Babies?’ She thought dumbstruck.

But when he leaned away and leveled his heated gaze to her chest—like he could burn a hole through the corset, a hot blush found her cheeks.

’Alda! He means my breasts?’

He licked his lips and the memories of having that same mouth wrapped around them were too much to think about.

She quickly turned away to focus on attending to Vanya and avoiding the dark Fae with his unwavering gaze pinned on her like a hawk.

Kraven watched amused as his little bunny checked the unconscious girl’s wounds. "Hmm... you’re not thinking of healing her are you?"

That was exactly what she had in mind. Her wounds were severe and doing that was the only way.

Kraven sighed, shaking his head. "You’re a mystery."

"Sorry to disappoint you then," she said, moving her hand, and closing her eyes to focus.

Her wrists felt as if they would snap in two but ignoring the pain as best as she could, biting down hard on her lips until they drew blood.

Kraven watched in science as little weaves formed and slipped into the girl’s wound, healing slowly.

’Such an unusual little thing,’ he thought.

Isadora on the other hand was on the verge of collapsing, beads of sweat covered her features, her breaths growing unstable and the pain on her wrist was unbearable.

’Just a little more,’ she thought desperately. She groaned as her hands shook uncontrollably, and it got difficult to keep the weaves in place.

Drawing an exhausted breath, she passed out.
