The Reaper's Wicked Obsession -
Chapter 70: The Eating Woods
Chapter 70: The Eating Woods
Chirping birds filled the area, leaves danced in the wind, and the sound of the nearby river filtered through.
Isadora took off the makeshift support, holding her ankle in place, hissing as the pain intensified.
She closed her eyes, took a slow deep breath, and focused on silencing all other sounds.
Earlier she had worked on the wound on her side and closed it up to a decent amount, enough not to be life threatening anymore.
But this? It was going to be difficult. Healing her broken ankle would be more challenging for her but she had to do it, she needed her leg and the pain to stop.
She opened her eyes, inhaling as she moved her hands in slow motions, her fingers pinching together as if she held onto the invincible air until it wasn’t invisible anymore, red weaves formed faintly but not as powerful as it was meant to be.
But this would do.
She focused them on her broken ankle, teeth clenching as the weaves slipped in to do their work.
Concentrating on repairing the broken bone and then the muscles around them. The pain gradually reduced and she could feel her ankle returning to its natural state.
However, that was when her hands gave out, the pain from having them trampled on coming back, and a harsh breath released from her when she lost her focus.
She tried to catch her breath, strained from the little effort to weave, it always took a toll on her but trying to do something as difficult as this when her hands were hurting was even more tasking for her.
Isadora spared a look at her ankle, it was back in place, but the swollen pain remained. It was better than the state it was before.
She reached for the tree sticks she had acquired earlier, wore her boots, tied the knots tightly, and placed the sticks at both sides of her leg to keep it straight.
Using the material, she tied them in place until it was firm enough. She wore her leather corset back on, bracers, and then sheathed her swords.

Isadora’s hand dug in the water and took some to rinse her face, she repeated the action until she was sure she got some of the dirt off. Her eyes veered around the area.
Was this the next challenge? She hasn’t seen anyone yet.
Her stomach growled, causing her to groan and rub it. ’I’m starving,’ she thought as her eyes swept the area, there wasn’t anything to eat around her.
But then her eyes caught some berries. A smile found her lips as she eagerly limped toward it, sniffling them and groaning at the scent.
Without wasting any more time she stuffed some in her mouth humming to herself at the taste.
Unknown to her someone was on top of a tree, crouching and watching her. Brown, slanted eyes fixed on the girl devouring berries like a monster.
She rested her hands on the branch, to lean closer and her eyes narrowed before they widened when she caught a glimpse of her ears.
’Isn’t that the mannfae? Shouldn’t she be dead?’
The girl suddenly gasped when she sensed something coming ahead, theywerehere. She brought her eyes back to the mannfae who was too engrossed in eating and had no idea what danger awaited her.
Her eyes found the distance again, the bushes moving by the wind but it was not the wind but something far deadly was approaching.
Isadora couldn’t have enough of the berries, she knew she shouldn’t eat too much of it but she couldn’t stop. This was a nutrient much needed after being on the cliff of death.
Out of nowhere a branch snapped and her head turned instantly, her eyes searching for the source of the sound but she remained alone.
Using the back of her hand to wipe her stained lips, she pulled out one of her swords for caution.
Even though she didn’t see any threat, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she wasn’t alone.
The wind was suddenly harsh, blowing fiercely and the trees pointed in one direction. A cold chill shot up her spine and in alert, she turned.
Isadora was not able to act quickly as a force slammed into her, pushing her away until her back crashed into a tree.
She dropped to the ground trying to release a breath but it felt as if her body would split into two just by breathing.
She twirled her head, and her eyes caught something fast and unseen, moving with the wind as a terrifying screech followed.
Isadora panicked leaning against the tree and holding up her sword. How could she fight something she can’t see?
Suddenly a figure landed on the invisible being causing it to release a distraught screech.
The mysterious girl held onto what seemed like the creature’s neck with her arm, using her other hand to conjure her weaves.
Isadora watched in astonishment as her weaves emerged at the palm of her hand, so fast her eyes couldn’t catch them.
There was a small whirlpool of water and then within a blink of an eye it took the shape of an ice fang, which she grabbed with her fist and used it to pierce the head of the creature.
It wailed and the sound caused a piercing pain to the ears, causing Isadora to cover hers.
With a hard shove, the girl was flung off the creature, but she landed gracefully, not a single sound was heard from her steps.
The creature kept wailing, black blood oozing from the wound, until the pitching sound eventually died down and it collapsed to the ground.
With wide eyes, Isadora watched as the creature suddenly became visible, its form slowly revealing itself—milky, cracked skin glimmering under the sunlight.
Its unnaturally elongated body maintained a Fae form, with pointed ears, yet it was bald and bare. Its voidless eyes were shadowed by the dark veins beneath them.
Its mouths parted, forming unintelligible sounds as it revealed its needle-like teeth—hundreds of them, struggles escaped the unnatural being until silence remained.
"What in the olden gods name is that!" Isadora yelled.
Suddenly a branch snapped again and the girl turned her slanted eyes to the scene, they moved quickly as if to catch any other moment. She turned to the mannfae and placed a finger on her lips.
But Isadora couldn’t keep quiet because a blur moved behind her—too fast, too close.
