Chapter 56: Erotic Spar With The Reaper (1)

"Get into position," Kraven commanded, with his deep firm voice.

Isadora swallowed a lump in her throat, she did as instructed and raised her balled fist close to her face.

Kraven licked his lips, eyeing her stance and pacing. He nodded like he had come to some fruition.

"As a mannfae, your muscles are weak, your bones can break easily. A hit from me is akin to getting slammed by a boulder."

She gulped.

"Your fight with Nyssa for instance... tell me how you felt."

"Just like you said..." she confessed. "I felt like dying."

"The Spine or your duel which made your blood boil?"

Her teeth clenched. "The duel."

"And why? Surely it had to be the Spine, you spilled blood and broke bones on that obstacle, and yet no one gave fucks you did," he paused and raised an eyebrow. "Only because you didn’t have an audience."

Isadora kept silent, yet her chest burned. The thought of it made her body numb, the same way it burned with the tingling heat of rage.

She could still see the looks on their faces as they called her a cheater.

’Even Rav thinks I’m a cheater too’ she thought heartbroken by the thought

"So which caused you to rage more?"

She gasped because Kraven was suddenly before her.

"All of it," she replied with clenched teeth.

He grinned, revealing his perfectly white teeth. This close, she noticed his canines were sharper than normal, making him look every bit like the monster she had imagined him to be.

"Gods! That scent rolling off you..." he said groaning and closing his eyes briefly.

When he opened them, his silver eyes had a glow of hunger causing her heart to skip a beat. "The smell of it is intoxicating and that look in your eyes, so innocent and yet..."

She threw a punch directed at his face but he stopped it and closed the distance between them.

"...fierce!"

Isadora grunted as she threw another punch, but he caught it again, trapping her hands in front of her with her back pressed against his chest, her breaths unstable.

He leaned closer to her neck, inhaling deeply to catch that honeyed scent of hers. He had a difficult time deciding which aroused him more—her fiery anger or her intoxicating fragrance.

Isadora could hear her heart slamming like the beats of drums. If she could hear it, then he could... louder than she did.

His body radiated warmth—a forbidden attraction she had to resist. It chased away every trace of cold in this place.

"Shall we continue?" his voice snapped her out of it and coming back to her senses she yanked away from him.

Isadora got in a fighting stance, not taking her eyes off him. In a heartbeat she came at him again, throwing punches he swiftly blocked.

The urge to wipe that smirk off his face became a motivation to strike harder.

"You may be a mannfae..." he began. "An impure blood."

She growled, getting faster.

"An imperfect creation of Alda and Almadra..."

She got faster again.

"But... you’re still a Fae."

She punched him square in the face and her eyes widened. She took a step back stunned, not because she had gotten a hit but because she felt it at that instant—she got fast enough to land it.

Kraven spat out a mouthful of blood and turned to face her, a bloodied grin stretching his lips.

"T-This shouldn’t be possible," she murmured, shaking her head.

"What? That you got a hit on me? I might be going easy on you, love, but I know you felt it."

"I’m imperfect!"

"Yes, you are... and that is what makes you extraordinary."

Her lips parted and tears built up, threatening to fall but she swallowed it back.

"Mannfae or whatever... you’re still Fae."

She swallowed hard, putting up a brave face, and got into position again.

"Atta girl!"

She charged toward him, continuing their spar. She maintained her speed, and even though Kraven could swiftly block her moves, she felt free, more alive and breathless than ever before.

It felt like a weight had been lifted and everything flowed like the lake passing through streams.

She erased everything else, her anger, her pain, her hate, and replaced swiftly by the urge to harmonize.

Their movements fell into sync, and suddenly, it no longer felt like she was being bullied for her lack of strength.

Instead, it felt like she could stand toe-to-toe with him and truly call it a spar.

But as the minute passed she grew tired. Her muscles strained so hard she wished she could let herself cry.

Isadora halted instantly, placing her hand on her knees to catch her breath.

"Tired?"

She glared at him and smirked. "Not a chance!" she ran at him but this time threw a kick which he caught.

"Don’t get ahead of yourself," he warned.

She giggled and aimed another strike between his legs. He caught the move quickly, and halted it—but in doing so, she lost her balance.

Isadora yelped as she hit the ground, with him landing on top of her. He kept his hands on the sides to prevent crushing her with his weight.

"You’re enjoying this."

"Of course," she mused.

Kraven clicked his tongue and leaned closer, her unstable breath filling his ears. "Like I said before, don’t get ahead of your—"

She punched him square in the face before he could finish, at the momentarily distraction she switched their position with her on top.

"Don’t worry I’ll heal your broken nose, so just stay still while I wipe that smirk off your handsome face."

She threw a punch but he stopped it just midway to his bleeding nose.

He tilted his head to the side. "You think I’m handsome?"

Isadora froze, finally realizing what she said. Maybe the adrenaline got to her head causing her to say something like that.

"I-I-I said your devil face, that’s what I said!"

"Oh, lying now? The innocence is gone."
