Chapter 124: The Fae Who Escaped Daudi’s Hand

"Go away!" Isadora barked, her lips quivering.

This should make her feel better, she had been at it for hours and it was perfect. The image of Kraven and Nyssa slowly erased itself from her head.

The more she shot the arrow the more it hurt and a fragment of that image broke.

But she needed more.

Just a little more and she could completely forget what she saw. Stop this twisted feeling in her stomach, stop this pain in her chest that wants to drown her.

Why was she feeling this way? She was just his plaything. She should expect this, and it doesn’t matter how much her heart beats when she saw him or how much desire overtook the fear she had for him.

None of these matters.

It doesn’t change the fact that she was just a plaything.

"I can’t, even if I wanted to, I’m your dog, remember?"

Logi’s words pulled her out of her mind. He was another person she didn’t want to deal with right now. He was insufferable just as Kraven was.

They both derived entertainment from one’s ruin. They were all the same.

"Then retire for the night and leave me be, dog." She disliked the word she said to him but it was the only way to get him off her back.

Logi inhaled harshly, clawing his hand close to her face like he wanted to rip her skin off.

"What?" Isadora smirked wickedly. "You called yourself my dog but I can’t?"

Logi growled, taking a step back and pointed to her, several words hanging on his throat. "I did not need to hear that from you!"

Isadora burst into a pearl of laughter. The amusement was deeply needed at this moment, especially because of his facial expression.

"What funny?!" Logi demanded.

"I don’t understand you, Logi," she mused. "The moment I call you my dog you get angry and yet when your LordRaven does you don’t?"

"Kraven, I can tolerate, but you... I can’t. You annoy me, every single person that walks this earth annoys me."

"Wow, you must have Kraven in such high regards if he doesn’t annoy you."

Logi shrugged.

Isadora rolled her eyes as she turned away. "You all have such respect for him, Even Rav does. You all follow him like he’s some great figure. He’s just a Fae with an impossible glorious purpose like a castle in the skies."

"He’s not just a Fae."

Isadora scoffed. "Oh yes, the Fae who has the presence identical to the god of death." She shook her head. "He’s many things, mad, wicked and insufferable."

"You sound like you hate him."

"I do hate him!" she snapped facing him with furious eyes. "I despise every cell that lives through him." She looked around the area. "I hate this place, I hate all of you!"

Logi observed her with stern eyes, her chest heaving as she made declarations that contradicted the emotions swirling in her eyes.

"You’re saying more things to convince yourself, little one."

"Am I? I’m just a mannfae trying to exist in a world who hates my very existence. It’s only fair I hate it back!"

"Once again saying that doesn’t justify a thing. No one gives asses about it, not even me." He took a step closer. "Face your truth, little one. It’s the least you can do for yourself than be in denial."

"I’m not in any denial!" she seethed.

"Whatever. Ask me what you want."

Isadora paused at his words. "What do you mean?"

"Go on, little one, ask"

"Ask what?"

"Ask what Rav couldn’t tell you"

She froze. "You were listening?"

"Eavesdropping is a habit in this Court, just be careful where you set your ears on."

Isadora swallowed a lump in her throat. "I don’t want to know about it, it’s none of my business."

"Hmm, are you sure?"

"Yes," she replied with clenched teeth. "I’ve no right to know."

"You’ve every right to. Tell me how much have you dangled between the rope of life and death?"

Her breathing hitched.

"I know you’re dying to know more about Kraven."

"W-Why would you tell me?"

His eyes lit up. "Consider this a gift for becoming a crowned warrior."

"Is that all this is then? A gift?"

He shrugged. "Think of it however you want. So..." he pressed his fingers together as a wide smirk found his lips. "Kraven, Kraven, Kraven," he murmured. "About his thirst and what it entails."

Her pulse raced as she waited patiently to uncover what had been eating her up for moons.

"His thirst... he was born with it."

The revelation struck Isadora.

"The insatiable need to kill any lifeform, to consume everything." Logi mused.

A shiver shot up Isadora’s spine. "Since the moment he was born, he was burdened with this?"

"Yes. the only good thing about it is he’s aware of what he is, his father wasn’t," Logi murmured the last words but Isadora caught on and opened her mouth to ask more questions.

"I can only dive into that aspect a little bit."

She shut her mouth.

"You’re aware of the dark weaves he wields, yes?"

Isadora nodded.

"He’s a shadow weaver and those have never been seen or heard before. Some say it’s the power of death or a stolen power from Daudi. But in order to wield such a power one must escape Daudi’s Hand."

’Kraven escaped the god of death?’ Isadora thought with wide eyes. Was that possible?

"I know that look, you just doubt what I said."

"I-I just don’t know what to make of it. It’s impossible to escape Daudi’s Hand."

The god of death’s Hand meant you were dead and your soul was given to him.

"But Kraven didn’t, he arose from the ashes..." He made spooky fingers.

Even though he made a joke about it, undeniably he told the truth. And it all made sense; the shadows, his identical presence with Daudi, the ravens that followed him around.

"He escaped death many, many, winters ago, after an historical event. Hence his abilities to wield the powers of death. The thirst and his ability to wield that dark power are like fire and oil, mix those two" he clapped his hands together. "You get chaos."

"T-The thirst and his powers are his burden."

"They are indeed, he had learned to live with it, knowing that one day he would lose control completely succumbing to the darkness."

"What happens when he loses control?"
