Chapter 1591: 767 The Revelation of One’s Background (First Update)_2
Gu Jiao looked towards the Horse King.
The Horse King suddenly became spirited!
Ye Qing’s eyelid twitched fiercely, “Young Master Xiao, you need to rest more and can’t wander around.”
Gu Jiao: “Oh.”
With no intention of staying put.
At this moment, the Black Wind King leisurely strolled over and took the Horse King away.
The Horse King didn’t want to leave, but the two-and-a-half-year-old Horse King couldn’t beat the Black Wind King.
Now that one of the troublemakers was gone, Ye Qing secretly sighed with relief, thinking that he hadn’t realized before how “playful” Young Master Xiao could be.
Is it really true that one shouldn’t be idle?
Ye Qing walked behind Gu Jiao, placed his hands on the wheelchair, and said to her, “I will take Young Master Xiao back to the Qilin Palace.”
Gu Jiao quickly said, “Wait, I won’t go back to the Qilin Palace just yet, where is your master?”
Ye Qing honestly replied, “Master is in the Purple Bamboo Forest.”
Gu Jiao hummed a response, “Take me to your master.”
Master might not agree to see you.
He’s busy right now.
Well, might as well first take you for a stroll around the Purple Bamboo Forest, to keep you from causing a ruckus with Little Shiyi.
Ye Qing pushed Gu Jiao in the direction of the Purple Bamboo Forest.
Gu Jiao raised her hand to shield her eyes.
“Are your eyes uncomfortable?” Ye Qing noticed her gesture.
Gu Jiao replied, “It gets a bit prickly after being exposed to bright light for too long.”
Ye Qing called over a passing disciple.
“Senior Brother.” The disciple saluted respectfully.
“Go get an umbrella,” Ye Qing instructed.
“Yes!” The disciple quickly fetched an umbrella from the nearest courtyard and handed it over, “Senior Brother, here.”
Ye Qing took the umbrella, opened it, and held it with one hand while pushing the wheelchair with the other.
Having martial arts skills, pushing with one hand wasn’t strenuous for him.
Gu Jiao silently appreciated Ye Qing’s thoughtfulness; he also looked handsome—did he have a girlfriend? Should she try to find one for him?
The two entered the Purple Bamboo Forest.
The disciple from the little bamboo house was cleaning the courtyard, which seemed to have endless fallen leaves. Gu Jiao always saw this little disciple sweeping the courtyard every time she came.
“Senior Brother!” The disciple noticed Ye Qing, put down his broom, saluted respectfully, then greeted Gu Jiao, “Young Master Xiao.”
“Is Master finished with what he was doing?” Ye Qing asked.
“Not yet,” said the disciple.
Ye Qing hesitated for a moment but then told the disciple, “Go and inform him that Young Master Xiao has arrived.”
“Yes.” The disciple set the broom aside, climbed the steps, took off his shoes, and entered the house through the half-rolled-up bamboo curtain.
Shortly after, the disciple came back out and respectfully said to the two of them, “Master invites Young Master Xiao to enter.”
Ye Qing looked deeply at Gu Jiao.
As it happened, Gu Jiao also looked back at him.
As their eyes met, Gu Jiao asked in puzzlement, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Ye Qing said, “You’re the first one Master has consistently made exceptions for.”
Gu Jiao touched her chin, pondering that it must be because she and his Master were both from another time and space, almost like half-fellow countrymen.
Ye Qing pushed the wheelchair into the courtyard, with the disciple laying down wooden planks on the steps for the convenience of the wheelchair.
The National Master was not in the main hall.
“Come in.”
The National Master’s voice came from the study room.
Ye Qing pushed Gu Jiao into the study room, faced the National Master, who was organizing the curio cabinet, and said, “Master, your disciple will take his leave now.”
“Hmm,” the National Master replied indifferently.
Ye Qing turned and left the room.
The study room was, except for minor details, as Gu Jiao had seen it last time—children’s toys, rolled-up paintings, and the brightly-polished clay sculptures—
The National Master was at that moment polishing one of the small figures on the clay sculpture.
That one, sitting in a row by itself, seemed to hold a particularly special status.
Relationships between people always progress through interactions; some questions perhaps the former Gu Jiao wouldn’t have asked, but now, she naturally voiced out, “Are these three little figures you, Xuanyuan Li, and the Emperor?”
“No,” said the National Master.
“Eh?” Gu Jiao looked at him in surprise.
The National Master paused in his polishing, then said, “There is no Emperor.”
“Oh, so it includes you and Xuanyuan Li,” Gu Jiao looked at the little clay figure and said, “I’m very curious about who could sit together with you and Xuanyuan Li. It seems his status is quite special.”
“A very important person, both a teacher and a friend,” said the National Master.
Gu Jiao raised an eyebrow; that was quite a high evaluation.
The National Master put the clay figure back into the curio cabinet, put down his dust cloth, turned around and looked at Gu Jiao, “You seem to be recovering well.”
Gu Jiao replied, “Quite well, only my legs are a bit weak, my eyes are light-sensitive, and I can’t use my hands, but aside from that, nothing else.”
The National Master nodded, “All of that will gradually heal, provided you behave and stay inside the house, and don’t run around everywhere.”
