Chapter 1258 - 1258 613 Outcomes (Two Updates)_2
Chapter 1258: 613 Outcomes (Two Updates)_2 Chapter 1258: 613 Outcomes (Two Updates)_2 Princess Xinyang had no desire to deal with the Marquis of Xuanping.
The Marquis of Xuanping raised an eyebrow, “Don’t keep showing this affectionate behavior towards children in front of me. Your hints are useless, I won’t have children with you.”
Enraged, Princess Xinyang picked up a basket from the ground and slammed it over his head!
Bewildered with a basket over his head, the Marquis of Xuanping: “…”
“Qin Fengwan.”
“Take the basket off.”
“Qin Fengwan.”
“You’re being presumptuous.”
“Qin Fengwan, Qin Fengwan?”
Gu Jiao had recently been busy with something at home, commandeering both the front and backyard of the old libationer’s residence, and constantly running to the Iron Shop, ending up covered in dust and grime every day.
Today, upon returning from the Iron Shop, she cleaned up, changed into clean clothes, and went to the house next door.
It was time for Huangfu Xian’s rehabilitation.
Today, Huangfu Xian was to officially cast aside his crutches and try to stand using the handrails on either side.
Sitting in his wheelchair, Huangfu Xian dared not move.
Gu Jiao approached him, standing at a distance where she could embrace him with an outstretched hand, and said, “Don’t be scared, try standing up.”
Huangfu Xian hesitated.
Huangfu Xian was shy, and during his training sessions, there usually weren’t many people around; Yu Yaya and Liao Quan deliberately stayed away from the backyard.
Gu Jiao then said, “Hesitate any longer, and little Jingkong will come over.”
Thinking of the little mushroom, Huangfu Xian gritted his teeth.
He didn’t want the little mushroom to look down on him, nor did he want to disappoint her.
He took a deep breath and grasped the handrails in front of him.
Gu Jiao watched him, “Stand up, Huangfu Xian.”
Huangfu Xian’s arms strained, but his legs wouldn’t cooperate.
“I… I can’t stand up.”
He had been able to walk a few steps on the ground using crutches, so why couldn’t he even stand without them?
This was a psychological dependency that Gu Jiao needed to help Huangfu Xian overcome.
Once again, Gu Jiao said, “Huangfu Xian, stand up.”
Huangfu Xian mustered all his strength, veins on the backs of his hands throbbing, but as he tried to rise, his amputated limb shot with pain as if stabbed by needles.
He fell back into the wheelchair, sweating profusely, “No use! I… I can’t stand!”
Gu Jiao watched him steadfastly, not uttering a superfluous word, simply repeating, “Huangfu Xian, stand up.”
“Huangfu Xian, stand up.”
“Stand up.”
Huangfu Xian’s thoughts drifted back to that night in the snowfield, when his mother placed him in a dugout snow pit and shielded him with her frail body against the howling blizzard.
“Xian’er, survive…”
Suddenly, Huangfu Xian’s eyes turned bloodshot, he grasped the wheelchair’s armrests tightly, gritted his teeth and slowly rose with the strength from his arms.
With a snap, he placed one hand on the handrail to his right; soon after, he placed his other hand on the left rail.
His arms trembled faintly under the immense strain, gradually shifting his weight onto his legs.
One inch, two inches, three inches…
He was gradually rising from the wheelchair.
Pain from his amputated limb twisted his features.
He nearly fell back down.
“You’re already standing halfway!” Gu Jiao declared.
Huangfu Xian bit down again and, in a burst of effort, stood up!
The severe pain he felt as if he were experiencing death anew, with his back drenched in cold sweat, and yet he was indeed standing.
“Good,” Gu Jiao said calmly, “Now, let go of your left hand first.”
Letting go wasn’t the goal; it was to prevent him from relying on his arm strength any longer.
Huangfu Xian’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and he slowly lifted his left hand.
Gu Jiao placed her hand just below his but didn’t touch him, “Now, try letting go of your right hand.”
“I…” Huangfu Xian was terribly nervous, relying solely on his right arm for support now that he couldn’t use his left. He felt pain in his amputated limb.
But after hesitating for a moment, he forced himself to let go.
Gu Jiao supported his hand in the air.
He was completely standing on his own.
Incredulously, he looked at his legs, then towards Gu Jiao before him, “I… I’m standing… Ah—”
He lost his balance and toppled forward!
Gu Jiao caught him just in time.
He exhaled a long breath of relief.
“I told you I wouldn’t let you fall,” Gu Jiao helped him back, placing his hands back on the handrails, “But still, you can’t avoid falling in the future.”
For now, it’s only about building your confidence to stand up.
“Yes!” Huangfu Xian nodded.
Having truly overcome that barrier, he no longer felt as fearful. It hurt, indeed, but now he knew the extent of the pain and had mentally prepared for it.
