Chapter 369: Chapter 369 – It seems you don’t trust me and are scared

"Hey Sabrina, do you have a moment?" the man asked.

Laura stood protectively by Sabrina’s side, silently urging her to decline.

Sabrina gazed at the man, sensing a familiarity but unable to place where they had met before.

"Excuse me, have we met?" she asked, her curiosity piqued as she struggled to recall his face.

The man’s smile wavered, a hint of unease in his voice. "Yes, we have. If you step away from the crowd, I can jog your memory."

He was taken aback by Sabrina’s question, as he had no recollection of meeting her in person.

It was only while spying on Robin in his office that he had caught a glimpse of her, and she had captivated him instantly.

He marveled at how a pregnant woman with such a prominent baby bump could still command

his attention. No wonder Robin was reluctant to let go of his ex-wife.

Sabrina pondered for a moment before responding, "It’s fine. Let’s talk here. What’s your name?" She was intrigued, thinking he might be an old schoolmate or acquaintance.

However, the man grew increasingly uncomfortable, particularly with Laura’s presence.

He glanced ahead and noticed another man observing Sabrina, confirming the presence of security around her.

Robin had indeed been wise to take precautions, even at a joyous event like this. Realizing he couldn’t resort to force, the man could only hope to pique Sabrina’s curiosity enough for her to willingly follow him.

"There’s something very important I need to tell you, but it depends on whether you’re willing to come with me. I won’t take up much of your time, just five minutes at most."

Sabrina contemplated his words, but felt uneasy about his reluctance to reveal his name.

Though she knew Mara and Martin were dead, she was aware that enemies like Shandra and even Vivian Shaw still posed a threat.

Thus, Sabrina was not willing to compromise, recalling the trauma she had endured during her kidnapping.

"I would have to come with my friend if that’s okay," Sabrina said, quickly noticing the displeasure in the man’s eyes.

It made her uncomfortable, realizing that the man might be up to no good. Unlike before, Sabrina was now security conscious due to her past experiences.

The man forced a smile, internally cursing at Sabrina’s intelligence. He had thought he had her, but she seemed to have changed within a short period of time. Her smile even looked forced.

"It seems you don’t trust me and are scared," he pointed out, looking around for any sign of Robin.

He did not want to come into contact with Robin until he had Sabrina, but she was not making it easy for him.

"Well, right now, you are a stranger. If you are not comfortable speaking to my best friend, you can speak to my husband," Sabrina revealed, convinced by the darkness in his eyes that he was indeed up to no good. She added, "Let me call him."

Sabrina was about to dial Robin’s number when he spoke behind her. "I’m already here, my queen."

Both Sabrina and the man were shocked, wondering how he appeared so fast. The man, especially, who had been on the lookout for Robin, was now searching for an escape route.

Laura was uncomfortable with the man’s presence and afraid that Sabrina might decide to go with him. She quickly alerted Robin and, seeing how things turned out, she was certain that she made the right decision.

Robin smiled at the man, but it was a sinister smile as he wrapped one arm protectively around Sabrina’s waist.

"Whatever you want to tell my wife, I want to hear it too."

The man forced a smile, suddenly feeling uneasy as Robin glared at him before frowning a little due to the man’s familiarity.

Robin was beginning to understand the reason why Sabrina was entertaining him and asked, "Hey, what is your name?"

The man surveyed his surroundings, fully aware that Robin would not abandon his pregnant wife to pursue him. With this in mind, he responded, "Perhaps if our paths cross again."

Upon hearing this, Robin refused to give up. Not when the man on the phone had claimed he had stolen something from him, and especially not when this man bore a striking resemblance to someone dear to his heart.

"Please, go sit with Laura at the table and avoid speaking to any strangers," Robin whispered urgently into Sabrina’s ear. She nodded, sensing that something was amiss, and complied.

Later, she would have the opportunity to inquire about the situation.

Robin quickened his pace and caught up to the man, his security team trailing closely behind, ready to carry out any orders from their boss.

Unbeknownst to Robin, the man also had his own security personnel among the crowd, closing in on them.

"Hey, why did you approach my wife? I demand an explanation," Robin asserted in a slightly authoritative tone.

His voice carried over the music, as most of the guests were engrossed in dancing and enjoying their food and drinks.

The man quickened his steps, prompting Robin to discreetly signal his security agents. They blocked the man’s path, causing him to turn around.

"What is the meaning of this?" he demanded, his voice betraying unease.

"You accosted my wife and asked her to follow you. I won’t stand for it," Robin’s expression turned cold.

Suddenly, another group of men closed in, causing the guests to grow uneasy.

Robin had no intention of causing a scene at his best friend’s wedding, so he instructed his agents,

"Relax, guys. We’re just having a friendly conversation."

"Mr. Jewel, it’s a pleasure to meet you, but I don’t have time for games," the man retorted, turning away. Robin then signaled his men to stand down.

As the man stepped outside, Robin followed and grabbed him by the hair. His security team brandished their guns, mirroring the actions of the man’s own security.

Robin smiled and released his grip, not wanting to escalate the situation. "It’s fine. Let them go. Lower your weapons," Robin instructed.

Both parties complied, and the man entered a car without uttering another word. His men occupied a separate vehicle, and they departed in a convoy.

After dismissing his security team, Robin returned to the high table. Daniel questioned him, "You found a suspect. Why did you let him go?"

Robin smiled and displayed the strands of hair in his hand before asking, "Do you still want to know why?"
