Chapter 354: Chapter 354 – My queen, it’s not what you think.
Matilda was hesitant to share personal details with her school friends, especially these ones who relied on her for help. She didn’t feel the same connection with them as she did with Sabrina.
However, she also worried that her friend would become desperate and pursue Devin, which could further strain their already rocky relationship.
After careful thought, Matilda decided to reveal the truth about her relationship with Devin.
"He is my fiancé," she confessed, and in that moment, it felt like a weight had been lifted off Devin’s shoulders. At least she wasn’t as ashamed of him as he had believed.
Her friend’s expression changed, and Matilda could tell that she thought she was being lied to.
It seemed to her friend that Matilda didn’t want to give her Devin’s contact information.
"You never mentioned having a fiancé before," her friend said, glancing at Matilda’s finger and the expensive diamond ring adorning it. Jealousy flashed in her eyes.
"I’m telling you now," Matilda replied, as they entered the locker room. She began to hang her bag and change her clothes, trying to focus on something other than the tension in the air.
"We’ve been engaged for almost two months."
Her friend was still in shock, and the others remained silent. Only the one who was infatuated with Devin continued to speak.
"So when are you going to get married?"
Matilda saw no reason to hide the truth any longer. "I don’t know when we’ll get married," she admitted, a hint of sadness in her eyes.
It seemed as though she would have to have this child without the marriage she had always wanted.
"I have to prioritize taking care of myself and my baby first," Matilda revealed, causing her friends’ eyes to widen in surprise.
Matilda had been keeping many things hidden from them in order to fit in, but she had reached a point where she no longer wanted to pretend. She simply wanted to be herself and attract the right people.
As Devin drove his car whiles listening to their conversation, he couldn’t decide whether to feel happy or sad.
Matilda had just revealed so much about their relationship, something she had never shared with her friends until now.
Despite still being behind the wheel, he continued to listen.
"You’re what? Are you joking?" one of her friends asked, to which Matilda responded and asked,
"No. So what did you learn last week?"
She always changed her clothes upon arrival because the dresses Devin had made for her were very expensive, and she didn’t want to stain them during practical activities.
"We missed you last week, but we’re still working on the wine tasting," her friends revealed. Matilda forced a smile.
"I won’t be able to get that right. My taste buds are terrible."
"We’re here for you. We’ll help you with it, but I really wish Devin wasn’t responsible for your child," her second friend said, growing upset. Matilda asked, not hiding her irritation.
"Why?"
"I’ve had a crush on him for a long time."
Matilda responded half-jokingly, but internally, she was giving out a stern warning. "You’re silly, but you better stop dreaming about him. He’s mine, and I’m carrying his child."
"If I had a man like that, I would insist that we get married instantly," she shrugged before taking a seat beside Matilda. She froze.
That is what she should have done, but she always felt that Devin would be there for her no matter what. Now, she wanted to be his wife, but his mind had changed.
Realizing that all gazes were focused on her, she let out a humorless chuckle. "Hahaha, I just want to complete school first, but now I’m thinking otherwise. So what happened to your boyfriend?" she asked in return since their lecturer had not yet arrived.
"He’s too young and immature. He’s all fun and no action. I want a mature man. One like yours. A man with a vision."
Matilda’s brows raised at the way her friend described Devin, even when she had no idea who he was. "You don’t even know my man well."
"He is a popular figure, and he doesn’t womanize. You are so lucky."
Devin stopped listening when he reached his office. There was something very important for him to do, so he spent a lot of time in the design room. However, he was also satisfied with all that he had heard so far.
A few days later, Sabrina found herself feeling bored in her office, longing for the company of the man she had just had lunch with an hour ago. Unable to resist the urge, she decided to call Laura for a favor.
"Laura, I need your help," Sabrina said as soon as Laura arrived.
Laura was taken aback, as Sabrina rarely asked for assistance, but she smiled and replied, "Of course, anything for you, Miss James."
Sabrina blushed slightly before revealing her plan. "I want to surprise Robin with a visit. Can you drive me there without him knowing?"
Laura’s smile widened, thrilled that Sabrina wanted to surprise Robin.
"Sure, but keep in mind that his bodyguards might still inform him," she warned.
Sabrina was surprised by this revelation, as Robin had never brought his bodyguards to her office before. Typically, they only accompanied him to the casino and then to his office to ward off any unwanted attention from women.
"How did you know about his bodyguards?" Sabrina asked, her tone serious. Laura hesitated for a moment before deciding to be honest.
"We work for the same agency, so we’ve had a few conversations," she admitted, trusting that Sabrina would keep her secret.
Sabrina quickly came up with a solution. She grabbed her phone and dialed Aria’s number. "Aria, I need your help," she requested.
"Please, tell me what you need, Miss James," Aria responded eagerly.
"I want you to find a way to keep Robin’s bodyguards away. I want to surprise him with a visit," Sabrina explained.
"There are no bodyguards," Aria replied, sounding confused. Sabrina furrowed her brow, wondering why Robin had sent his bodyguards away.
Regardless of the situation, she made sure not to display her confusion on her face. "Oh, okay then, thank you."
Sabrina arrived at Robin’s office and inquired of Aria, "Is he alone?"
"No, there was a man and a woman there, but the man went out to get something from his car."
"Alright, thank you," Sabrina replied and turned the doorknob, finding it unlocked. Suddenly, her legs felt too heavy to move as she observed the scene before her.
As Robin’s eyes met hers, fear filled his gaze and he began to panic. "My queen, it’s not what you’re thinking."
