Chapter 319: Chapter 319 - Will You Marry Me Again?
"Are you ready for the second surprise?" Sabrina’s eyes widened in anticipation.
"Another surprise?" she asked, astonishment evident in her voice as she gazed into Robin’s handsome face.
Robin couldn’t help but find her reaction amusing. "My queen, I will never be tired of seeing that amazing look on your face. Yes, there’s another surprise, and I know you’ll love it because you’re hungry."
Sabrina smiled, realizing that she hadn’t even noticed her hunger until Robin mentioned it.
Taking one last glance at the wall of ’I love yous,’ she nodded her head. "Okay, let’s go."
Lost in her own world of love and sightseeing, Sabrina only snapped back to reality when the car came to a stop.
Stepping out of the car, she was immediately mesmerized by the view of two islands nestled in the middle of the Seine, right at the heart of Paris.
"What place is this?" she asked, her confusion evident. Robin glanced at the tour guide, who had returned with a bag in his hand.
"This is Ile de la Cité or Ile Saint-Louis," the tour guide explained. Seeing Sabrina’s puzzled expression, he continued,
"The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, is steeped in history. It’s the birthplace of Paris, home to the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution."
Sabrina reminisced about her history lessons on Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France.
However, her attention was quickly captivated by the magnificent Notre Dame and the picturesque bridges spanning the Seine.
The tour guide noticed Sabrina’s fascination and elaborated,
"Ile Saint-Louis, a charming island, offers a more provincial experience with its cozy traditional eateries, quaint boutiques, and reputedly the best ice cream in the city."
"I’ll let you form your own opinion, but this is an essential part of Paris, from its earliest days to its modern allure," the guide added.
Robin, eager to go shopping, was reminded by his pregnant wife that they needed to eat first, as they had not had a meal since their flight.
"Let’s grab a bite first," Robin suggested, and the tour guide led them to one of the traditional eateries.
Sabrina was delighted by everything, especially by how considerate Robin had been in arranging dishes that wouldn’t upset her stomach.
After finishing their meal, they embarked on their shopping spree. Sabrina carefully selected gifts for Matilda, Lizzy, Devin, her father, and Cecilia.
Touched by her thoughtfulness, Robin also picked out gifts for Daniel, Cecilia, and Cobby.
Later, they took a leisurely stroll along the Seine near the Île St. Louis. The tour guide retrieved a blanket from his bag and spread it on the grass for them to sit on.
He placed their dessert, a bowl of creamy ice cream, in front of them.
After indulging in the sweet treat, they sat on a cozy blanket, gazing at the picturesque sienna and watching the boats and pedestrians pass by.
It was the perfect spot to unwind and appreciate the surroundings, which is exactly what they were doing.
"Do you like it here?" Robin inquired, eager for Sabrina’s response. A grateful and adoring smile adorned her lips as she replied,
"Very much. Thank you for bringing me here."
Robin smiled in return and said,
"The pleasure is all mine. I thought you deserved a break after working so hard."
"And I am certainly unwinding," Sabrina beamed, relishing the gentle breeze and the breathtaking view.
Later, they were chauffeured to a luxurious five-star hotel. Due to spending two weeks together at the villa, they shared the same room only for a quick nap.
As evening fell, they dined at the hotel’s opulent restaurant before changing into formal attire.
Standing in front of an extravagant building, Sabrina couldn’t help but ask, "Where are we?"
"Palais Garnier," Robin replied with a smile. He then posed another question, "When was the last time you attended an opera?"
Sabrina shook her head in confusion, aware that opera houses often attracted large crowds.
"But there’s no one else here," she complained. Robin smirked but remained silent as they entered the elegant opera house.
"This magnificent opera house was constructed between 1861 and 1875 in Paris. It is renowned as one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world," the tour guide explained as they entered.
Sabrina noticed that it was just the three of them - herself, Robin, and the tour guide. It suddenly dawned on her why.
"Did you rent out the entire auditorium just for us?" she asked incredulously, impressed that Robin had thought of such a grand gesture without even mentioning it.
It was a clear indication that she now knew him on a deeper level, unlike the jerk he used to be.
"Anything for you, my queen. Now let’s savor the performance," Robin replied, pleased that his surprise had worked out.
Sabrina’s astonishment only grew as the show began. Though there were no spoken words, the music and ballet beautifully depicted the story of their marriage and subsequent divorce.
The performance concluded with their enemies facing justice, leaving the pondering question of what would come next.
"Now it’s time for the final surprise," Robin whispered to the teary-eyed Sabrina.
Overwhelmed by the events of the day, she could only nod, unable to find her voice.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the Sacré Coeur Basilica, situated in Paris’ Montmartre neighborhood. Robin was relieved to see that there were still plenty of tourists around and suggested to Sabrina,
"We can climb the stairs for a breathtaking view of the city. If you’re not up for it, I’ll carry you," he offered, assuring her.
However, Sabrina insisted, "It’ll be good exercise for me."
Robin did not refuse, recognizing the validity of her point. Hand in hand, they ascended the numerous steps until they reached a vantage point where the city’s sights unfolded before them from the basilica.
"It’s truly breathtaking," Sabrina remarked, her eyes shimmering. However, when Robin remained silent, she turned to her left and was taken aback to find him gracefully kneeling before her.
His attractive features were illuminated by the light, and with the cityscape as a backdrop, it was the most enchanting scene Sabrina had ever witnessed.
Seizing the opportunity presented by the romantic ambiance and the presence of other tourists who could serve as witnesses, Robin spoke up.
"Sabrina James, I must confess that I have acted foolishly, but all I desire now is to have you back as my wife. I promise to bring you happiness every day. So, will you please marry me once again?"
Robin’s voice trembled with emotion as the dazzling diamond ring reflected the lights.
