Chapter 225: Chapter 37 Arriving at Cuige Town
Cuige Town, a nameless little town, got its name from Cuige River nearby.
Due to its remote location and being twenty miles away from the nearest city, Cuige Town seldom saw outsiders throughout the year.
However, the town’s reputation had been growing recently in the worldly society.
Those at the bottom of worldly society were unable to learn the whereabouts of the Heavenly Calculation Inheritance. This inheritance was a public secret among the upper echelons, but to those below, it remained utterly inaccessible.
Yet, the influx of noteworthy disciples from various prominent sects to the same location couldn’t be concealed from these lower-class individuals, who constituted the majority of the population.
Since it was somewhat of an open secret, those heading to Cuige Town hadn’t thought to hide their destination, and thus, their purpose had quickly spread across the land.
Many people, knowing nothing of Cuige Town, rushed there directly.
This led to the remote little town now being overcrowded; without even an inn to house the visitors, they had no choice but to stay with the town’s residents.
Within just two days, even the firewood storages were occupied.
"Don’t worry, Young Master," Bie Pengyue said with a smile. "Our Sword Palace has already prepared a residence for you."
"Thank you for your trouble," Qing Yu responded.
This time in Cuige Town, he didn’t come with Luo Yan. Instead, he arrived under the guise of a fresh face in the worldly society—Zhao Yun.
"You shouldn’t call me Young Master anymore, it sounds awkward. We are all young here, just call me by my name."
"I dare not, I dare not," Bie Pengyue repeatedly said.
This man, after all, was the guest invited by their senior brother, Yuan Jianyi, whose strength was rumored to be on par with the top five of the Dragon and Phoenix List. Such a person, for Bie Pengyue, was truly a big shot and not to be treated lightly.
"Forget it, as you wish. Where is your senior brother now?"
"Senior brother is currently meditating. He should be out shortly. Please wait a moment, Young Master Zhao," Bie Pengyue stated.
"Hm," Qing Yu said, then found a spot to sit down casually.
Due to the poverty of the townspeople, there wasn’t even a chair inside the house—just a few short stools. Qing Yu didn’t mind and just sat down, waiting for Yuan Jianyi to emerge.
Interestingly, as soon as Qing Yu sat down, Yuan Jianyi came out.
Even more interestingly, Yuan Jianyi did not end his meditation session to come out.
Suddenly, a powerful aura from outside burst forth, with someone flaunting their might. This aura was attempting to overpower everyone in the town.
And the pressure was quite significant, at least substantial enough that Bie Pengyue, a direct disciple of the Sword Palace, couldn’t withstand it.
Divine Origin Realm.
Qing Yu was familiar with the intensity of this aura, after all, he had encountered several Divine Origin Realm individuals before. The person outside releasing this aura definitely possessed the strength of the Divine Origin Realm.
Moreover...
This person was someone he knew.
Qing Yu stood up and nodded to Yuan Jianyi, who had just walked out from the inner chamber, and they both went outside together.
"Qingxu, you are already a Divine Origin Realm martial artist, why do you still come here to compete with us for the Heavenly Calculation Inheritance?"
The voice spread throughout the town, a strong assertion of power, although Qing Yu couldn’t hear it; he only felt the powerful True Qi vibrating the air.
Fortunately, the town was small, and within a few leaps, Qing Yu and Yuan Jianyi arrived at the entrance of the town, where several people were confronting Qingxu.
"Xiao Chengming, you’re not qualified to talk to me." Saying this, Qingxu turned away without looking at the furious, purple-faced Xiao Chengming and shifted his gaze to Yuan Jianyi, who had just arrived. "Yuan Jianyi, I have reached the Divine Origin Realm. When will you break through and fight me?"
"Very soon," responded Yuan Jianyi, as always, succinctly.
"Then I’ll wait for you." Saying this, Qingxu led his fellow Sect members, completely ignoring Xiao Chengming and his group, and entered Cuige Town.
’Wow, my fellow Sect member Qingxu, after breaking through to the Divine Origin Realm, seems rather inflated with pride,’ Qing Yu thought amusingly as he watched his former foe.
Such arrogance, Qingxu truly disregarded everyone apart from Yuan Jianyi.
"If I’m not mistaken," Qing Yu said to Yuan Jianyi, "weren’t the Great Sects’ agreement supposed to prevent those above the Divine Origin Realm from coming?"
"Young disciples are allowed," Yuan Jianyi responded.
Oh, I see. Qing Yu nodded.
The restriction basically applies to young disciples and is limited to the Innate Realm. The only exception might be Qingxu, who suddenly broke through.
This loophole that wasn’t really a loophole provided Zhenwu Sect no small advantage.
The Heavenly Calculation Inheritance, while certainly prohibiting those above the Divine Origin Realm from entering, still allowed gaining the inheritance from outside.
After all, once you’ve received the inheritance, you still have to come out.
Qingxu thus served as the final valve for Zhenwu Sect to secure the Heavenly Calculation Inheritance.
"Let’s go," Yuan Jianyi turned and departed.
Qing Yu glanced sidelong at Xiao Chengming who looked like he wanted to speak. The poor fellow seemed to have been trying to talk to Yuan Jianyi, who completely ignored him.
Yuan Jianyi, forever sparing with his words for those he esteemed, let alone for those he despised. Unfortunately for Xiao Chengming, he was in the latter category.
Moreover, as the Young Master of Yu Jian Manor and one of Yuan Jianyi’s former defeated foes, it was unlikely that Xiao Chengming would say anything pleasant.
After another glance at this twice ignored pitiful young man, Qing Yu quickened his pace to catch up with Yuan Jianyi.
"Damn it, Yuan Jianyi is one thing, but even that Nameless Soldier dares to ignore me," Xiao Chengming muttered under his breath as he watched the two figures walking away.
"Just wait, I’ll soon make you pay."
"It’s better if you let go of your grudge," came an indifferent voice from not ten feet away.
"Who?!" Xiao Chengming spun around, startled.
Approaching silently close, had the newcomer attacked, Xiao Chengming would have been severely wounded or killed.
The others with Xiao Chengming, equally startled, had not sensed the speaker, who now stood among them.
Everyone stared in unison at this mysteriously appearing figure. The man, with his rare double pupils, wrapped in a deep blue cloak, his hair slightly white, had a handsome face filled with calm detachment.
"You, you’re Qiao Baixuan!" Xiao Chengming exclaimed in shock, "I didn’t expect you to come."
Renowned double pupils, ascending five hundred years back, there was only Qiao Baixuan, the sixth on the Dragon and Phoenix List, a Direct Disciple of the Fate Altar’s Elder Shiming.
"Heavenly Calculation Elder was once a peer of my master. Naturally, I wanted to see this inheritance," Qiao Baixuan said lightly.
"Those two, neither is easy to provoke. If you go looking for trouble, you might just find Yu Jian Manor needs a new Young Master."
With that, Qiao Baixuan too departed.
Leaving Xiao Chengming standing there, somewhat doubting his life. "Am I really that weak? Can even a Nameless Soldier pose a threat to my life?"
