Chapter 102 - 99 Black True Qi
Chapter 102: Chapter 99 Black True Qi
As the sword edge was about to make contact, a sudden anomaly occurred. The "Vast Righteous Qi" that enveloped Han Wenxin turned black from pure white, no, not just any black—it was the color of ink.
The inky True Qi resisted the sword’s edge, making the True Qi attached to the sword sluggish and dissipating it.
Seizing the opportunity, Han Wenxin scrambled away from Qing Yu, not caring at all about his appearance.
He was fleeing.
Although Han Wenxin still concealed his strength, Qing Yu inexplicably knew he was fleeing. As for why, perhaps it was a resonance with those who cling to life and fear death.
"Stop him!" Qing Yu shouted.
Luo Yan leaped forward, sweeping up biting winds with her palms, blocking Han Wenxin’s escape route, "You shall not pass this way."
Behind, Qing Yu advanced rapidly in a few strides, his Sword Light shadowing him, his speed matching Luo Yan’s, no, even surpassing it.
"Han Wenxin, you can’t escape!"
Qing Yu’s long sword was relentless, his sword finger targeting the vital points around Han Wenxin, forcing him to keep dodging or using his inky True Qi to block the Sword Qi. His left hand dangled loosely by his side, concealing a deadly threat within his sleeve.
Han Wenxin inwardly cursed his misfortune. These two unpredictable people, one agile and clinging firmly to him, giving no chance of escape. The other aimed for the vitals with a sword eager for life, yet so ruthless with swordsmanship that bore no Killing Intent or sound, demanding constant vigilance, fearing the next moment might silently claim his life.
After Qing Yu’s left-hand dangled loosely, Han Wenxin sensed an even greater danger, as if death were imminent.
’I can’t wait any longer...’ With that thought, Han Wenxin no longer concealed his intentions, his body swiftly shifting, stepping in several directions, somehow miraculously breaking free from the confinements of the Sword Wind and Luo Yan’s snare.
"Oh..." Qing Yu let out a sound heavy with implication, but his movements did not cease. Like a shadow, he was intent on launching another attack.
"Who dares to harm my Academy’s scholars..."
A shout rang out, reverberating through the wilderness like thunder from the heavens, and exploded in the air.
"A Master of the Divine Origin Realm." Luo Yan exclaimed.
To transmit one’s voice over a thousand miles, only a Master of the Divine Origin Realm was capable of such a feat.
"You sent word to the instructors at the Academy," Qing Yu said, "you really are terrified of death!"
While Qing Yu mockingly chided Han Wenxin, his sword moves became even more elusive and traceless, the long sword dancing through the gaps in the wind, as swift as lightning and silent as the grave, the sword itself nearly disappearing from sight. Only several silver streaks could be seen crisscrossing the air, slicing the space into fragments of varying sizes, shrinking Han Wenxin’s room to live.
The slightest lapse from Han Wenxin, and this intersecting web of swords would rend him to pieces.
Even Qing Yu had not expected Han Wenxin to be so exceedingly cautious. Merely being followed had led him to disguise himself and return to the Academy, and he had even preemptively notified the instructors of the Mountain River Academy to come to his aid. Such levels of caution had surpassed even Qing Yu.
This was a man he truly wanted to kill!!
For the first time, Qing Yu felt a surge of Killing Intent. Usually, under the unique Mental State of the "Heavenly Person Rebirth Technique," even if Qing Yu truly killed somebody, he wouldn’t feel any Killing Intent. But now, facing someone similar to himself, after cultivating the "Heavenly Person Rebirth Technique," Qing Yu felt a profound Killing Intent for the first time.
Thinking this way, he poised the hidden assassination attempt up his sleeve, causing Han Wenxin, who he targeted, to break out in a cold sweat.
"The scum..." The shouting was getting closer.
Earlier, for fear of support from the Mountain River Academy, Luo Yan had deliberately chosen the distant Guest House. But to a Divine Origin Realm warrior, this distance was not really a problem.
Han Wenxin’s body surged with Black True Qi, completely enshrouding him. Such a release of True Qi was unsustainable for an Innate Realm martial artist. Han Wenxin was now pushing himself to the limit; he wouldn’t last more than a few moments before losing the power to resist. Unfortunately, Qing Yu and the others lacked exactly these few critical moments.
Qing Yu’s Sword Qi seemed to lose its edge before this surge of True Qi, becoming soft and gradually dissipating. This unknown Black True Qi actually had immense defensive power. True Qi would become inert before it and slowly scatter.
"What should we do?" asked Qing Yu.
The Divine Origin Realm lecturers from the Mountain River Academy would be arriving soon. They were destined not to capture Han Wenxin this time.
"Let’s go," Luo Yan decisively said.
Luo Yan was a person of resolve, ready to retreat when he saw that the situation was unstoppable.
The four black-clothed men had already pulled out when Qing Yu had made his move. They knew that this was not a battle they could intervene in.
"Who would have thought that the scholars of the Mountain River Academy had gotten involved in the strife of Princes? Has the noble Confucian sect now fallen under the wing of the Sixth Prince too?"
Before leaving, Qing Yu didn’t forget to set a trap for Han Wenxin.
As soon as Han Wenxin deployed his Black True Qi, the other occupants of the Guest House had long scattered like birds and animals. But since Han Wenxin and the Sixth Prince were very close, it would not withstand a serious investigation.
It was known that Eighth Prince Feng Qiwu, although he was admired by many as a disciple of the head of the Mountain River Academy, had no Core Scholars who had truly joined his service. The Mountain River Academy could not be involved in the struggles among Princes, an unwritten rule that nevertheless existed firmly in practice.
With this incident, Han Wenxin could no longer stay at the Mountain River Academy. Hoping to hide within the Academy and scrape by was out of the question.
...
After Qing Yu and Luo Yan left, Han Wenxin could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground. He didn’t need to force himself anymore, as the lecturers from the Mountain River Academy had already arrived.
Nonetheless, Han Wenxin dared not thank the familiar lecturer he had coexisted with for almost three years. He lowered his head, his expression and body language exceedingly complex, no doubt mirrored by the eyes of the lecturer looking at him.
...
Qing Yu and Luo Yan quietly blended into the crowd. It had to be said that on this road to Datong Mountain, there wasn’t much different from inside the city. In just a few moments, a large group of people gathered, pointing at the now silent Guest House and discussing fervently.
Luo Yan took off his Human Skin Mask, and Qing Yu adopted a new face. The two opened a room in a nearby inn and discussed the after-action of this operation.
"Unexpected that Han Wenxin could cultivate ’Vast Righteous Qi’ and other Cultivation Techniques simultaneously, it’s truly surprising..." Luo Yan said in amazement.
They had no time to marvel at the urgency just now, but now relaxing, Luo Yan couldn’t help but be astounded by the peculiarity of Han Wenxin.
’Vast Righteous Qi’ is a protecting Dao doctrine of the Confucian sect. Being a Protecting Dao means ensuring its purity foremost. ’Vast Righteous Qi’ has strong doctrinal exclusivity. Once cultivated, you can no longer cultivate other Inner Strength. Any Inner Strength cultivated before ’Vast Righteous Qi’ would slowly return to the body as Primordial Energy over time.
