The Paladin in the Abyss
Chapter 799 - 810 The Method of Deciphering

"I see!" Kalalin excitedly paced back and forth, "It’s actually so clever? This is really interesting..."

"Are you praising the person who trapped us?" Bruto glared at Kalalin, "I don’t care about the principle; I just want to know, if we want to get out, what should we do?"

"Uh, get out..." The Dwarf’s question stunned the Scholar, "If a new corridor generates every time we pass a corner, then to get out, we must..."

The excitement on Kalalin’s face quickly faded. He swallowed hard and spoke with difficulty:

"Someone has to stay behind."

"Explain." Lancelot calmly demanded.

"It’s simple, we have to separate." Kalalin took a deep breath, "One group stays here, while the other continues forward."

"Will the ones who continue going out?"

"Someone will get out, but it won’t necessarily be those who continue forward." Kalalin shook his head, "Due to the principle of non-overlapping space, the spell effect causing us to keep circling will only remain on one group. It could be the ones left behind or the ones continuing forward; it entirely depends on the spellcaster’s intentions when creating this ’trap.’ However..."

"Will the ones who stay face danger?"

"Yes. The spellcaster likely set some insurance mechanism that will trigger when someone successfully leaves, annihilating those still within the spell... I cannot predict the form the danger will take."

"Alright." Lancelot nodded, "Let’s do it this way. I’ll be in one group, and you, in another. Whoever gets out should immediately find a way to lift the spell effect to release our comrades."

The companions exchanged glances, knowing in their hearts this was indeed the safest plan, giving both groups the highest chance of survival. But this way, wouldn’t Lancelot be risking himself again?

"Brother..." The young vampire looked worried, "Doing this... It’s really okay?"

"Don’t worry."

"In the end, we still rely on you." Bruto replied gloomily, "This feels awful, like I’m completely useless..."

"No, no, you’re not weak." Lancelot chuckled, "It’s mainly because I’m too strong."

"Ha, that’s true."

"Glad you know. Let’s go, see you shortly."

Lancelot turned around and, under the companions’ watchful eyes, stepped toward the end of the corridor. Passing through another corner, Lancelot felt no difference; the corridor ahead appeared identical, only without the companions’ presence.

But a white bandage was tied around the neck of a skeleton in the corner.

Lancelot reached into his Dimensional Bag and pulled out two powerful weapons from the upper planes.

"I can feel the evil here." The Sword of Zariel spoke, "We should utterly destroy this place..."

"Ah, I didn’t expect to come out so soon again." Starlight Strike replied with a hint of laughter, "I thought you weren’t afraid at all."

"How could I not be afraid?" Lancelot raised the two swords to his face, "I need your help. Others might also be in danger; I must get out of here quickly."

"Of course, glad to serve you."

As they conversed, the sound of rocks scraping emerged from the corridor ahead. All the stone coffins’ lids were pushed open by some mysterious force, and corpses sat up from within. These bodies appeared to have died recently; flesh still clung to their bones, but slightly swollen, making them look even more horrific. Additionally, their armor and weapons seemed constantly soaked in oil, shining under the light of the magic chandelier.

"Would you mind dirty enemies?"

"Of course not."

"Good."

The undead began to lunge at the human knight who continued walking forward at a steady pace. The first enemy reached him with a longsword; Lancelot swung Starlight Strike with his left hand, effortlessly knocking the longsword away, and simultaneously thrust the Sword of Zariel in his right hand forward, piercing it through the opponent’s mouth and out the back of his skull.

The next enemy wielded a long-handled axe, raising the weapon high, seemingly treating Lancelot like a log to be split. This time, using the longer Sword of Zariel to block the axe blade, Lancelot stepped forward, inserting Starlight Strike into the opponent’s armpit, spinning half a circle before pulling it back.

The next enemy had a spiked hammer and shield—a combination Lancelot was very familiar with. The enemy seemed to plan defense first, counterattacking when Lancelot struck the shield—a reasonable choice, but inappropriate. With one strike, Lancelot split the shield and the helmet behind it.

No matter how the enemies attacked, Lancelot maintained a steady pace, methodically taking down the foes around him. It must be admitted, wielding two divine artifacts made this task relatively easy despite the large number of enemies; they weren’t numerous enough to bridge the gap in strength between them and Lancelot.

The human knight traversed the entire corridor, leaving behind countless empty coffins and severed limbs. Approaching the corridor’s end, he encountered a gray barrier blocking his way. Lancelot pushed it, feeling it like a cold, solid stone wall with an unnatural firmness.

"A space barrier?" Starlight Strike’s relaxed voice sounded again, reminiscent of a noble at an art gallery, "You’re in luck; with me here, this thing is useless..."

"Can you break the barrier?"

"Of course, I’m forged from Stellar Realm fragments; any spatial distortion is like folds in fabric to me, and I’m an iron." The sound of an older elf subtly promoting himself, "And our recent activities have heated the iron."

"What exactly should I do? Just stab it?"

"Exactly."

Lancelot shrugged, lifted his left hand, and stabbed at the gray barrier. A sharp, brief, not loud buzz sounded in his ear, followed by a crisp shattering noise, and the barrier gradually dissipated in the air. A black shadow suddenly shot out from the corner, crashing heavily against the wall ahead. Lancelot looked closely, recognizing Bruto, and other familiar figures quickly appeared.

"Brother!" A soft body joyfully plunged into Lancelot’s arms, "I knew you’d be alright!"
