Chapter 114: 113: Does she like you?
"Is that dress still for sale?" Ruan Yuan sat comfortably with her legs crossed, the hem of her skirt sliding upward due to her movements, revealing her fair legs.
In the dim light, it carried a peculiar hint of allure.
Yu Zhi paused for two seconds, "No, it’s not for sale." She didn’t want that woman wearing her designed dress.
"Alright, it’s not like I care about a bit of money anyway."
As Yu Zhi turned her head to retrieve her phone, Ruan Yuan seemed to wordlessly cooperate, extending it forward.
The silent emergency stairwell was soon disturbed again by the sound of a phone call.
About half an hour later, Shi Wei rushed to the entrance of the mall.
Just as he was about to get out of the car, the passenger seat door was opened by someone.
"Zhizhi." Shi Wei pulled the young girl into his arms, placing her across his lap.
He kissed the corner of her lips, "I have nothing to do with that woman. Please trust me, alright?"
No one knew how worried he’d been on his way here—worried that she might ignore him because of this.
He came up with several ways to coax her, but when they finally met, all he could muster were explanations.
"Are you meeting her tomorrow?" Yu Zhi lowered her eyes slightly, absent-mindedly fiddling with the buttons of his sleeve, saying neither that she trusted him nor that she didn’t.
"She came to find me before, but I didn’t agree."
"Why did she come to find you?"
"She wanted to invite me to an event celebration and came to deliver the invitation."
Shi Wei, worried that his explanation wasn’t thorough enough, went on to elaborate on Shi Yaoyu’s relationship with Meng Han.
He rested his chin on her shoulder, gazing at her earnestly, "Zhizhi, I wouldn’t lie to you."
Yu Zhi hesitated briefly, then looked up at him, her tone laced with jealousy that even she hadn’t noticed, "Does she like you?"
"I don’t like her." Shi Wei immediately clarified, a flash of disdain in his eyes, "If Zhizhi doesn’t like her, I’ll make her disappear right away."
"There’s no need for that." She didn’t dislike that woman to the point of wanting her gone.
"Zhizhi, don’t be upset anymore." Shi Wei, though inwardly delighted by her jealous reaction, cared more about not making her unhappy.
He lightly pinched her chin and tilted it upwards, prompting her to meet his gaze, "Alright?"
Yu Zhi stared blankly into his deep, obsidian-like eyes, letting the emotions within them tightly envelop her.
The weighty and profound sense of security stirred within her an unavoidable attachment.
"I’m not upset anymore." Yu Zhi curved her lips, leaning into his chest, her eyes shimmering with sweetness.
Shi Wei let out a sigh of relief, gently stroking her head and pulling her closer.
He held the little hand that had been toying with his buttons, "Zhizhi, do you want to keep shopping?"
Yu Zhi shook her head, "Ruan Yuan has already left."
If it hadn’t been for that woman, they might’ve stayed out a bit longer.
"Alright, then let’s go home." Shi Wei moved her back to the passenger seat, secured her seatbelt, and affectionately tapped the tip of her nose.
Not long after, the black Maybach disappeared amidst the bustling streets.

Inside the U·M store.
Meng Han picked out three or four dresses of varying colors and walked to the counter with the store clerk.
She pulled out a card from her wallet, held it between her fingers, and handed it over.
But after holding that pose for quite a while, no one took the card.
Meng Han glanced at the manager scanning the barcodes on the tags, her expression impatient, "What’s going on? Can you hurry up?"
"Please wait a moment." The manager, unfazed, put down the tag and replied to a WeChat message before neatly folding the dresses and placing them in a cabinet behind her.
Noticing the manager’s actions, Meng Han slammed the card onto the counter, "What do you mean by this?"
She frowned, towering over the other woman thanks to her height advantage, a hint of contempt visible on her face.
It was as if speaking another word to the manager would lower her status.
"Han Han, what’s wrong?" Bai Shirui stood up from the sofa and walked over to her lightly.
Before she could speak, the manager clasped her hands in front of her abdomen and slightly bowed, "Apologies, but all items in the store are no longer for sale today."
"Why?" Hearing this, Meng Han’s expression darkened almost instantly, her previously unfriendly gaze now layered with coldness.
She had already wasted nearly an hour here, only to be told now that the items weren’t for sale? Was this a joke?
"Han Han, don’t be upset." Bai Shirui patted her back, then turned to the manager and spoke gently, "May I ask the reason?"
With a standard smile, the manager replied, "It’s a sudden notice from the company. I’m not quite sure myself."
"Does your company always work like this? Completely disregarding customer experience?" Meng Han scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain.
This was the first time she’d encountered such a store; everywhere else, people treated her like a god.
The manager pulled out a shopping voucher from the cabinet, held its edges in both hands, and extended it towards her, "As an apology, please accept this shopping card as compensation on behalf of the company."
"A shopping card?" Meng Han nearly laughed in anger. She slapped the manager’s hand away, her manner domineering, "Do you even know who owns this mall? As if I’d need a shopping card from you?"
"Han Han, just let it go." Bai Shirui grasped her wrist and pulled her back, "She’s just doing her job; don’t make it difficult for her."
Then she turned to the manager apologetically, "Sorry, my friend isn’t in a good mood today."
Bai Shirui’s soft demeanor and gentle voice naturally drew others to her.
The manager’s smile became more sincere as she offered the shopping card again, "It’s fine; I understand. Please take this."
"Alright, thank you." Bai Shirui took the card along with the bank card from the counter.
She hooked her arm around Meng Han’s and leaned in slightly, "Let’s go look elsewhere."
Meng Han responded softly. Deep down, she knew that venting her frustration at the manager wouldn’t accomplish anything; she simply wanted to let off steam.
As the two left U·M, Bai Shirui noticed her friend’s lingering low spirits and quickly wrapped her arm around Meng Han’s shoulders, "Han Han, no matter what you wear, you’ll leave Master Shi astonished."
That struck a chord for Meng Han. She shyly tucked her hair behind her ear and gave Bai Shirui a playful glare, "You’re just spouting nonsense."
"No way, I’m telling the honest truth."
"Alright, alright, let’s move on. I still need to buy a couple of pieces of jewelry later." Meng Han smiled, seemingly embarrassed, and quickened her pace.
And just like that, her earlier unhappiness naturally faded away.
