Chapter 109: 108: Shi Wei, I am not ready yet.

"I’m not avoiding you." Yu Zhi pressed her lips tightly together, her hands gripping the railing behind her. She took a small step back, stopping only when there was nowhere left to retreat.

She tilted her head slightly, staring at the man in front of her. Hidden within her calm gaze was a trace of barely perceptible tension.

"Really?" Shi Wei lowered his eyelashes, the corner of his lips curving into an arc of cool amusement. "But I think Zhizhi is avoiding me."

"I really didn’t." She feigned a yawn, letting her eyelids droop as she murmured softly, "I just want to go to sleep."

"Alright, then let’s sleep together." Shi Wei leaned closer, his low voice brushing her ear with a slight huskiness.

Without waiting for a reaction, he hooked his arm around her slender waist and lifted her up in one motion, carrying her straight into his master bedroom.

Yu Zhi was placed at the center of the soft bed. She froze, looking at the man beside her—elegant yet nonchalant—whose smile made her heartbeat accelerate wildly.

"What... do you mean by this?" She straightened her back, her voice dwindling into uncertainty.

Shi Wei didn’t reply. He leisurely unfastened the two buttons on the cuff of his sleeve, rolled it up, revealing his firm, muscular forearm.

With a soft ’click,’ his knuckled hand removed the silver watch from his left wrist and casually tossed it onto the sofa.

His movements made Yu Zhi panic; she clenched the quilt beneath her, using its resistance to retreat further.

As she watched the man take off his shoes and socks, her cheeks flushed deeply like ripe fruit. She called his name softly, "Shi Wei, I’m... not ready yet..."

Her voice trembled, not out of fear, but more due to confusion and helplessness.

Shi Wei suddenly laughed, the sound resonating like water rippling through a breeze—intricate, melodious, endlessly alluring.

He turned his head to glance at the frightened little rabbit. His eyes carried an unparalleled tenderness.

"Zhizhi, come here." The man lay not far from her, raising his brows slightly as he gazed at her with an enticing undertone in his voice.

Yu Zhi hesitated for two seconds but ultimately couldn’t resist the affection in his gaze. Slowly, she moved closer to him.

As the distance between them grew smaller, Shi Wei suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his arms for a tight embrace.

The sound of their pounding hearts became increasingly vivid, echoing in her ears. Yu Zhi curled her fingers, her voice tinged with grievance, "Shi Wei, another day... can we?"

Shi Wei had only intended to tease her, with no plans to escalate further. But hearing her plea stirred a curiosity within him.

"Why?" He picked up a strand of soft hair on the pillow, twirling it idly between his fingers.

Yu Zhi’s lips quivered as her lashes fluttered twice per second. "Just... not today, okay?"

"Then when will it be okay?"

"Next time, alright?" She wasn’t mentally prepared for anything, worrying she might not overcome the emotional threshold.

Shi Wei ceased his movements, his gaze deepened as it fixed upon the crown of her head while his Adam’s apple rolled slightly. "Alright, I’ll wait for you."

"Mm." Yu Zhi’s stiff back finally relaxed. She lowered her head, trying to keep the man from noticing her embarrassment.

Seeing her reaction, Shi Wei raised his brows ambiguously, his dry lips brushing against his tongue. "Zhizhi, I’m thirsty."

"I’ll go get you some water?"

"I want something sweet."

"Coke? Juice?" Yu Zhi lifted her head, staring at him unblinkingly.

Shi Wei’s gaze fell on her crimson lips. As he grasped the back of her head, he murmured two words:

"Zhizhi."

Shengde Middle School.

Zhou Lu held a cup of milk tea, sitting alone on a long bench opposite the school gate.

Every now and then, she unlocked her phone screen to glance at the time, visibly impatient.

"Excuse me, are you waiting for someone?" A boy with remarkably delicate features approached her unknowingly, stopping in front of her.

Zhou Lu raised her head, meeting his gentle smile. She froze momentarily before shyly straightening her posture. "Yes. Is there something you need?"

"I dropped my phone. Could I borrow yours for a moment?" The boy scratched his head, his expression showing a hint of trouble.

Without hesitation, Zhou Lu handed her phone over, and as he unlocked the screen, her gaze subtly wandered over his figure.

She couldn’t help but note that the boy standing before her—his outfit, height, and features—perfectly matched her ideal type.

Her heart was easily struck by Cupid’s arrow within that fleeting moment.

The boy held her phone to his cheek, his expression hinting at frustration as his attempted call didn’t go through.

Watching his obvious dilemma, Zhou Lu rolled her eyes slightly and spoke in a soft, intentional voice, "Where did you lose your phone?"

"I don’t quite remember," he admitted, exhaling heavily while gesturing to a nearby alley. "But I came from over there earlier."

"Then let me go with you to take a look. You might find it." Zhou Lu smoothed out a crease on her skirt before gracefully heading to his side.

"Alright, thank you very much." The boy maintained his politeness, repeating his gratitude as he handed back her phone.

Zhou Lu’s gaze fixed forward, but her peripheral vision clung to him, unable to pull away.

The alley was damp, its corners covered in layers of moss. Even the air was tainted with the acrid stench of the sewers.

On either side of the path were piles of cardboard boxes, worn-out sofas, and tattered wardrobes. Undisturbed by frequent foot traffic, the place showed signs of long neglect.

Zhou Lu covered her nose, a faint distaste flashing in her eyes. She glared at the trash pile by her feet. "It’s unlikely to be here, right?"

"Let’s check further inside." The boy’s pace didn’t slow; in fact, it quickened.

Zhou Lu jogged to keep up but abruptly collided with four heavily tattooed men upon turning a corner.

"Hey, wait for me!" she called out to the boy in panic, only to see him leave without even glancing back.

"Little miss, why don’t you play with us for a bit?" One of the bulky men moved behind her, grinning lecherously.

"W-What are you trying to do?" Zhou Lu’s face turned pale as she stumbled back a few steps, her limbs trembling uncontrollably.

Her mind went blank. She didn’t have time to ponder whether the men’s appearance had been orchestrated.

"What do you think?" The four men exchanged a knowing look, closing in on her with practiced synchronization.

"Don’t come any closer—stay away!"

"Ah!!"

A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the alley, then faded into silence.
