Chapter 778: 628, I should have thought of him earlier Chapter 778: 628, I should have thought of him earlier Island Lord's Mansion.
Wu Heng walked into the room next to the study and his gaze fell upon two Mage Skeletons standing in different positions.
These two skeletons had been purchased from the Snake Badge Consortium in Lopaz City.
After transformation, they were placed here to learn skills.
The Level 11 Mage Skeleton had already unlocked [Corpse Battlefield] and [Bone Manipulation Skill].
The Level 7 skeleton had only unlocked [Bone Manipulation Skill] and was learning [Corpse Battlefield].
After checking the skills of the two skeletons,
Wu Heng pointed at the Level 11 skeleton, “Come out with me, there's a task for you later.”
The skeleton walked over to Wu Heng's side and followed him out.
The room door closed again.
Wu Heng, with the skeleton following, entered the study.
Glenda was revising her novel at the desk while Xiao Xiao and Bella were chatting about an animated film.
Whether it was movies or animated films, Glenda watched them too but wasn't as engrossed as Xiao Xiao and Bella appeared to be.
Wu Heng glanced at Glenda, who seemed to have reverted to her usual self.
Last night, Glenda's 'Unfinished Wish' had been unlocked.
It seemed she had come to terms with it in her heart.
Wu Heng casually opened her panel to check her attributes.
[Ghost]
[Level: 18]
[Attributes: Agility 37, Constitution 35, Intelligence 45, Perception 42, Charm 38.]
[Traits: Invisibility, Ethereal Movement, Telekinetic Push, Illusion, Enhanced Possession, Soul Binding, Paranormal Phenomenon.]
[Skills: Spirit Vision, Psychokinetic Swordplay, Withering Touch.]
Indeed, the limitations of the Unfinished Wish had disappeared.
It also meant that Glenda could continue to level up.
Given the abundance of Remnant Souls in the Zombie World, Glenda might reach Level 20 before him.
A Level 20 ghost, it seems, had not been heard of before.
Even the propaganda stories of various associations did not mention a Level 20 ghost or its title.
No other attributes had changed.
Actually, from Glenda's recent release of 'Unfinished Wish,' some directions became clearer.
It was not simply about fulfilling the ghost's last wish.
More importantly, it was about letting go of the matter in her heart.
Glenda had always wanted to know why her husband had killed her. After devouring his soul and viewing the memory fragment,
she had understood the reason.
Ultimately, it was Wu Heng's advice, and her own realization, that prompted the release.
The option for 'Unfinished Wish' had disappeared from the panel.
That being said, Xiao Xiao not having completed her Unfinished Wish may not necessarily be about whether her mother learns skills or stays at a certain base.
It might still be the worries about the future.
The guess might not be accurate, but the likelihood is quite substantial.
“What are you daydreaming about?” Glenda looked up.
Wu Heng said with a smile, “I'm just pleased to see you've come through.”
“What do you mean, 'come through'? I haven't noticed any change,” Glenda replied.
“No change is good too,” Wu Heng said, then clapped his hands toward Xiao Xiao and the other soul, “Ladies, we're heading to the Zombie World.”
The two souls flew over.
Xiao Xiao rested on one shoulder, “Uncle, are you going to be my dad?”
Bella floated over as well, “That's such a weird way to address someone!”
Wu Heng said, “Let's head to the Zombie World first, today we're going to kill zombies.”
Glenda asked, “Aren't you interested in the exhibition? It's open to the public today, and there will definitely be a lot of people.”
“Everything has been arranged. The Patrol Guard and the associations will all deploy people; there's not much we can help with by staying here,” Wu Heng replied.
“As long as you've arranged it,” Glenda nodded.
“Let's head back first; we haven't been to the Zombie World for several days, so let's see what the situation is there.”
Wu Heng spoke, and three ghosts entered his body.
He opened a boundary door on one side and walked straight through.
Shanfu Port, hotel suite.
Wu Heng stepped out of the boundary door and looked out the window.
The number of people at the base had increased, and some of the base's elderly could be seen as well.
After a quick glance, he used the walkie-talkie to call Qi Hancai.
Soon, there was a knock at the door.
Qi Hancai entered.
She was wearing a white shirt with a blue-grey jacket over it and a slightly fatter little owl perched on her shoulder.
Below, she had on tight blue jeans, looking very professional.
“What is it? Doesn't this look good?” Qi Hancai sensed his gaze and turned around on the spot.
“It suits you well, looks even better,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
Qi Hancai also smiled, walked up to him, and leaned in gently. “Thank you.”
Wu Heng pulled her onto his lap and then asked, “How are things going here?”
Qi Hancai replied, “These past two days we've transferred more of our people over, and the operation of the entire base is running smoothly without any issues.”
“The original temporary housing has been completely dismantled, and we've assigned rooms to everyone. We also set up a canteen and a place for receiving daily necessities. We're just missing electricity compared to the old base.”
“The radio station has been restored and has begun broadcasting our information. Next time we carry out a rescue, people will know that skeletons mean it's our team.”
A few days had gone by, and progress had been quite rapid.
After listening, Wu Heng said, “Later we'll go check out the nearby power plant. If it's a thermal power station, restoring electricity shouldn't be a big issue.”
“Okay!” Qi Hancai agreed.
Cooking still required firewood, and solar panels had to provide power to some equipment.
Life was actually quite tough without electricity.
Wu Heng continued to ask, “How is the escort ship training going?”
Qi Hancai answered, “I think there's no problem. Yesterday the skeletons even conducted a navigation trial. They can steer the ship normally and operate the weapon systems. The only thing is that they haven't used live ammunition yet.”
Wu Heng raised his eyebrows.
Being able to fully navigate and operate weapons meant there were essentially no problems.
All that remained was to send the ships to the Otherworld.
To enhance the naval combat capabilities of Gold and Silver Island.
“Later, continue to have them train skeletons and also arrange for some of our people to learn as well,” Wu Heng instructed.
“I'll arrange it when the time comes,” Qi Hancai said. “Shall I take you to the port for a look?”
Wu Heng thought for a moment, “No need to look, do you know the location of the power plant serving the port?”
“I have the address of the power plant.”
“Arrange it. Let's start by clearing out the zombies.”
“Okay!” Qi Hancai stood up, took the walkie-talkie, and delegated the task.
As she was speaking, she felt a strong hand on her.
She slightly turned her head to look back and arched herself backwards, making it more convenient for the man behind her to touch her.
Gold and Silver Island, exhibition event.
At the moment, the exhibition was packed with people, shoulder to shoulder. At a glance, it was just a sea of heads.
Patrol guards and association members loudly maintained order.
They divided the crowd into batches to prevent any stampede or chaos.
In this world, there rarely were any novel events.
An exhibition, especially one held for the wealthy merchants and nobility, open to the common folk, was something everyone wanted to check out.
Inside the exhibition hall, people followed the passages, observing the goods on display, and let out gasps of admiration from time to time.
The goods for the nobility were indeed delicate and beautiful.
And somewhat foolish.
A wine glass with such intricate carvings – if it fell to the ground while drinking, wouldn't the carvings break off?
Along the way, we reach the central booth.
It was surrounded by an impenetrable crowd.
People stood on tiptoe and craned their necks to see the screen above depicting the use of a fountain pen to write.
Hiss~!
“This is the fountain pen, huh!”
“How did they think to store ink in the back of the pen, what an impressive idea.”
“Lord Island Master seems even more amazing than the heroes in the stories.”
“It's just a matter of time. How old is the Lord Island Master after all.”
The crowd discussed animatedly, marveling at the novelty of the fountain pen.
Then, a patrol guard came through the crowd, urging people to move on and not to stop in one spot.
Second floor of the exhibition hall.
Different from the first-floor pen section, the watch area was somewhat quiet.
Mechanists of the Elf Race, humans, Dwarves, and other races all crowded around the display.
Each one held a pen and paper, sketching and noting the details displayed on the screen along with the watch designs.
They occasionally let out sighs of admiration.
“A great invention.”
“He really should have become a Mechanist instead.”
“Indeed, such a good prospect for a Mechanist, wasted on being a Mage.”
Third floor of the exhibition hall.
The actual Strengthening Potion had been removed, leaving only certification from the Associations and Consortiums inside the glass display cases.
As the crowd walked by and glanced over, none of the congestion seen on the two floors below occurred.
Outside the display case, two not-so-tall figures donned in black cloaks stood stiffly in front of the cabinet, staring at the certificates inside.
“Miss, the alchemy master you're looking for…” the maid standing behind whispered.
The figure in front spoke with determination, “I should have thought of him long ago.”
