Island Master's Manor.
Wu Heng descended from upstairs, followed by various newly transformed skeletons.
Alchemists and Mechanists were assigned to their respective rooms while chefs and gardeners were also placed in their respective positions.
Tailors would be taken to the garment factory in the next two days, which was also needed by himself.
Only the Coroner, Wu Heng had not yet decided how to arrange.
He definitely couldn't send them to the Association; if skeletons were sent there, replacing the two existing Coroners, wouldn't that cost people their jobs!
He'll deal with it when the time comes!
After arranging the skeletons, Wu Heng went downstairs.
As soon as he stepped on the ground floor, Mini quickly walked over to him.
She took out a piece of paper from the Space Ring, “Master, Mackintosh sent this, saying today someone in the tavern openly wants to challenge you, this is information about the challenger.”
Challenging himself?
His image on the island had improved quite a bit lately, surely now wasn't the time for someone to challenge him!
“Let me take a look!” Wu Heng took the paper and opened it.
He then saw the content on it.
“The challenger claims to be 'Lu An*Randolph', a male of the Human Race, around 25 years old, with blond hair and blue eyes, and a sword at his waist, openly stating in the Golden Sail Tavern that he wants to challenge the Island Master.
There was an older man with him, dressed in a long robe, holding a wooden staff, profession guessed to be related to magic spells, and the relationship between the two is master and disciple.
The two individuals are members of the Association, and after leaving the tavern, they also headed to the Association.
The Prophet sensed that the two arrived at noon from port number one, aboard the cargo ship 'Andres'.”
After reading the information, Wu Heng raised an eyebrow.
Mackintosh's information was indeed quite detailed, from age and appearance, even down to the ship they arrived on.
Wu Heng also found these two individuals strange.
They had just arrived on the island today and were from the Association, why challenge him?
Were they sent by someone to trouble him?
Or did the challengers have some other purpose?
“Master, are you all right?” Mini asked softly, seeing him frown.
Wu Heng put his arm around her shoulders, “I'm fine, some master and disciple from the Association have come to the island to challenge me.”
“The Association? Aren't we also from the Association? Why would they challenge you?”
“Just bored, there are always people who have nothing better to do, looking for trouble everywhere,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
“Shall we let 'Robey' throw a grenade where they are staying to prevent them from bothering you?”
“Their deaths would also be troublesome here on the island, it's better to ignore them, they will leave in a few days.” Wu Heng said as they moved towards the dining room, and asked, “What's for dinner?”
“I've prepared some oysters to fortify you,” she replied.
The next day, at the Association.
Wu Heng walked through the chilly corridor and went directly into the cold autopsy room.
Inside the autopsy room, two Coroners were processing corpses.
Seeing Wu Heng, they slightly bowed, “Lord Island Master.”
“What bodies are these?” Wu Heng scanned the three bodies in the room and asked.
The Coroner answered, “These two are fugitives killed by squad one and four, identities have been confirmed; this one, was fished out from the sea, dressed up like a fisherman.”
“Not from the island then?” Wu Heng looked at the last corpse.
“The squad asked around, and no fishermen from the island are missing,” the Coroner said.
Wu Heng examined the corpse's face, which was still in fairly good condition, not overly bloated from soaking.
“Wait outside for a little while, I'll check the body,” he said.
“Yes!” the two Coroners responded, and immediately left the room.
Once Wu Heng confirmed both had left,
he took out a Special Item, the Faceless One's Skin, and placed it over the corpse's face.
The moment the two came into contact,
the skin adhered like real skin, merging seamlessly with the face of the corpse.
Even the skin near other parts of the body showed no signs of seams.
After a few seconds, Wu Heng stroked the face gently and, using a bit of force, peeled the mask off.
Became a special Human Skin item once again.
He glanced inside the Human Skin Mask, and although there were no traces of a corpse left behind, Wu Heng still pulled out a tissue and wiped it off before wearing it on his own face.
First, it formed his own face.
Then, with a thought, his facial features began to tighten and move.
He took out a mirror from the Space Ring and looked at himself.
He had transformed into the appearance of the corpse next to him, identical in every way–pupil color, facial contours, and hair color had all changed.
“It really is quite magical.”
Wu Heng murmured in praise, and then reached behind his ear and tore off the Human Skin Mask.
He put it back into the Space Ring.
After finishing what he wanted to do, Wu Heng stepped out of the autopsy room.
Two Coroners were chatting at the doorway.
“I'm done here, you can continue your work!” Wu Heng said.
The two nodded again and re-entered the autopsy room.
Leaving the autopsy room.
Wu Heng walked past the Steward's Office and decided to stop and lightly knock on the door.
After hearing a response, he pushed the door open and entered.
Inside the room, Xi Ligui and Shi Yali were both in the office, staring intently at him as he entered.
Wu Heng touched his face, confirming that the Human Skin Mask was removed.
Then he asked, “What are you looking at?”
Xi Ligui handed him a piece of paper, “Here, a challenge letter, I was just about to have someone send it to you.”
Wu Heng frowned as he took it and glanced at it.
At the top, it was titled 'Challenge Letter,' and below were terms regarding a fair duel.
Lastly, at the bottom, there was a stamp of an association.
“Wow, they have such a thing too.”
He had not expected that the association would facilitate challenges like this; it seemed supportive of various duels.
“It's not exactly support, but the association tacitly allows competition among the younger generation, encouraging faster development, and issues arising can be solved by this type of challenge letter,” Xi Ligui explained.
“So if he issues this thing, do I have to accept?” Wu Heng asked.
“Of course not, he submitted it to the association, which only means it's through the association's platform. It's up to you whether you accept or not, it's not compulsory,” Xi Ligui said with a smile, “So, are you planning to accept?”
“Definitely not, I don't even know who he is, and why should I agree? If he loses, he just walks away, nobody on the island knows him, but if I lose, how do I continue as the Island Master?” Wu Heng placed the challenge letter back on her desk.
Xi Ligui nodded in agreement, “You're right, but he's not as unknown as you think. In the headquarters of the association, he's considered among the best of the Human Race's young generation, said to have high talent and has defeated many from the previous generation.
If you could defeat him, your reputation in the headquarters would be even greater.”
In a dormitory of the association.
The blonde-haired, blue-eyed 'Lu An' walked in, saying, “Teacher, the construction on this island is great. The things around the association called street lamps, I've heard they shine as bright as the sun at night and don't turn off at all.”
“They must be some sort of special Magical Props. In his stories, isn't it said that more of his inventions and various props come from his place?” the veteran mage replied with a smile.
“It feels nice. If possible, we could consider living here permanently.” Lu An continued.
The veteran mage sipped his tea, “Was the challenge letter delivered?”
“I gave it to Xi Ligui, following the association's regulations. She will arrange for someone to deliver it to him.” Lu An sat across him.
The veteran mage continued advising, “He's got Imilo's attention; he must have some skills as well. Reduce those flashy tricks of yours and try to end the fight quickly.”
A gleam flashed in Lu An's eyes, “I understand!”
“The news is already out: if you are going to win, win spectacularly and gain higher prestige.”
Lu An poured himself some tea and sipped it lightly.
“I really wish it would start soon, to defeat him in front of everyone.”
He added in his heart.
Especially in front of those two sisters in the Steward's Office.
In the Steward's Office.
Xi Ligui said, “He comes from a notable background and has been supported by the association for so many years; he definitely has quite a few valuable items. If you decide to participate, try to get him to wager something valuable.”
