Chapter 650: Chapter 528, Necromancers Are Really Troublesome Chapter 650: Chapter 528, Necromancers Are Really Troublesome The ghost that emerged caught Glenda by complete surprise.
How could there be two ghosts here?
An ambush?
Necromancer?
Several thoughts flashed through Glenda's mind, but as she looked down at the man on the bed, he was still vigorously engaged with the woman.
It wasn't his ghost.
No necromancer could be this close without noticing, nearly face-to-face.
Seeing the two ghosts charging straight at her, Glenda dared not take any risks.
She turned her head and flew away toward the back, passing through the walls to leave.
The two hideous ghosts followed through the wall, quickly making their exit.
Meanwhile, the two on the bed maintained their original movements.
On the carriage.
Everything was silent around.
As time passed, Wu Heng felt that something was amiss.
The tavern was right ahead, and with Glenda's ability, it shouldn't take this long.
“I'll go down and take a look, something doesn't feel right,” Wu Heng said as he opened the carriage door.
As soon as he stepped out of the carriage, Glenda's voice came from the night sky, “Wu Heng!”
Wu Heng's pupils tightened, and he turned toward the voice, his perception swiftly converging.
The soul of Glenda flew quickly towards him, with two ugly ghostly figures resembling fierce ghosts behind her.
As the fierce ghosts caught up with Glenda's soul, they began to draw energy from it.
Shortly after, the second fierce ghost also gathered into a mass.
Damn!
Wu Heng cursed angrily and pulled out his Soul-Whip to rush at the entangled soul.
He also shouted, “Xi Ligui, apprehend them!”
Xi Ligui had already followed him down from the carriage, clearly hearing the shout, she drew her sword and charged towards the tavern, “Catch them, kill any resisters.”
Whoosh whoosh~!
Squads of members rushed out from all around, flooding towards the tavern.
Bang~!
The window of the upper-floor private room shattered as several figures leapt down from above.
They were cornered by the squad and fighting broke out instantly.
Wu Heng stepped forward quickly.
He leapt up, the Soul-Whip in his hand glowing with eerie light, lashing directly at the entwined souls.
Crack~!
The whip sliced through the air, but it felt like it struck a water balloon.
Shrieks and wails suddenly rose.
The souls instantly dispersed into three separate entities, with two hideous ghosts, and the other being Glenda.
“They ambushed me in the room, they're of a higher level than me,” Glenda said quickly.
Wu Heng's expression hardened, and a White Bone Cage erupted from the ground, the two hideous ghosts quickly splitting up in an attempt to flee.
The White Bone Cage expanded rapidly, following the movement of the ghosts.
Just when it seemed that the ghosts would be controlled,
Glenda's warning rang out again, “Wu Heng, your shadow!”
In the darkness, a shadowy form gradually rose behind him, knife in hand, stabbing towards Wu Heng's back.
Wu Heng's body lurched forward, with Kai Xiu protecting by his side.
The punch roared through the air, instantly shattering the shadowy figure.
As the shadow disintegrated, like ink being spilled, it vanished into the night, leaving no trace.
The distraction allowed the two ghosts to gain some distance, and his perception could only vaguely sense their positions.
Wu Heng no longer attempted to trap the two ghosts but instead quickly closed the cage.
Trapping one of the ghosts inside.
He slowly pulled it back in front of him.
And around him, apart from the trapped ghost still howling and struggling, silence seemed to fall once again.
No other attacks came, nor did the assassins from the shadows reappear.
“I'll follow up and take a look,” Glenda said.
Wu Heng shook his head, “No, let's discuss this later.”
Glenda nodded and returned to invisibility, keeping close to Wu Heng.
Wu Heng then took out a Demon Soul Pot and placed it inside the Bone Prison, capturing the ghost into the Soul Jar.
He ordered the skeletons to protect himself.
Wu Heng continued to look at Glenda, “What's going on?”
“Okay!” Glenda plunged into his body.
The shared vision began from entering the tavern.
The cluttered tables, the man vigorously on top of the bed, and the woman with fair skin.
Then came the sudden appearance of the ghosts.
As if they had been lingering nearby, they charged directly at Glenda's position.
Then came Glenda's plea for help.
After releasing Glenda again, “Help me keep watch, don't go too far,” he said.
“Okay.”
Glenda vanished once more, keeping watch around the perimeter.
Wu Heng quickly walked toward the direction of the tavern.
Outside the tavern's door lay several bodies, one of whom wasn't wearing pants, the man seen exerting himself in Glenda's vision.
A level 15 professional from Glenda's point of view.
Killed so quickly.
Around, besides the squad members who had finished fighting, a large number of skeletons had come to reinforce.
They amassed densely, barricading the surroundings.
Xi Ligui emitted a chill, frost clinging to her eyelashes and face, “All killed, no one got away.”
“There's another woman inside, investigate it, see how she's related to these people,” Wu Heng ordered.
Xi Ligui signalled to the team behind her, and two squads directly entered to continue the investigation.
Then, she turned to Wu Heng and asked softly, “What just happened?”
“There were two ghosts, probably a Necromancer as well,” Wu Heng explained.
Xi Ligui's expression also turned grim, the more she dealt with Wu Heng, the more aware she became of the Necromancer's trickiness.
And now, they had come to the island as well.
“Do you know who it is?”
“Not clear yet, but considering the disappearances you mentioned, they're likely collecting bodies, which could be troublesome,” Wu Heng conjectured.
Now it seemed quite clear.
The disappearances Xi Ligui mentioned, when connected to the Necromancer, obviously indicated a collection of bodies.
Any profession would, due to its characteristics, lead one to undergo changes unconsciously.
Just like Wu Heng, who used to be repulsed by corpses and even considered them ill-omened before becoming a professional.
By now, through various channels, he had acquired many corpses to transform into skeletons.
It even felt like collecting cards before the End of the World.
Others were similar, upon arriving at a place or pursing a particular objective, they first thought of expanding their advantages.
For Necromancers, the fastest way to expand their advantage was collecting bodies.
After all, not everyone had a Bronze Key and could summon tens of thousands of skeletons through a door.
Xi Ligui looked vigilantly at their surroundings, the island's Skeleton guards everywhere in sight, and continued to ask, “What's next?”
“Communicate with the dead,” Wu Heng replied.
Xi Ligui nodded, instructing her men to move the bodies to the side alley, as Wu Heng cast “Communicate with the dead.”
The corpses sat up, murky eyes gazing in their direction.
Wu Heng directly asked, “Who are you people?”
The corpse answered, “Followers of the Heaven Destiny Cult.”
“How many of you came to the island?”
“12 people.”
The current death toll was seven, leaving five unaccounted for.
“What is your purpose?”
“To avenge the members killed by the Association earlier.”
Wu Heng and Xi Ligui looked at each other for a moment.
Both were somewhat surprised by the situation before them.
A sect that had no records with the Association and had just been established, daring to go to the island to kill the Association-appointed Island Master and the local Stewards.
Such arrogant individuals.
Even more outrageous than the Church of Divine Punishment, when its two Sect Guardians came to Gold and Silver Island for retribution.
Those had plans to lure them away; they didn't dare cause havoc on the island.
Wu Heng continued with the fourth question.
“What's the level of the highest-ranking one among you?”
The corpse hesitated, “A Great Knight of the cult; actual level unclear.”
The last question, “This Great Knight you mentioned, what profession is he?”
“A Necromancer.”
As expected, there was a Necromancer in the team.
After the five questions were answered, the corpse lay back down once again.
Wu Heng then cast “Communicate with the dead” on a second body, which also sat up.
“How many Necromancer Attendants does your leading Great Knight have?”
The corpse, its throat horizontally slashed, answered hoarsely, “I'm not sure, approximately ten or twelve.”
“Why don't you know?”
“These past few days, we have been collecting bodies for the Great Knight, the exact number is unclear.”
Indeed, as verified before.
“Apart from the Great Knight, how many other high-level professionals do you have?”
“One Level 15 Sect Guardian, two Level 10s, and the rest of the followers above Level 5.”
By now, some intelligence had been gathered.
Only five members of the Heaven Destiny Cult were left on the island, and the Level 15 Sect Guardian was probably among the dead at their feet.
Apart from the Necromancer's Attendants, there was no one of high-level profession.
Having confirmed they had the upper hand.
Wu Heng asked, “Where's the Great Knight hiding?”
“Eastern residential area; the door will have three horizontal dots lined up.”
After the answer, Wu Heng dismissed the magic, and the corpse lay back down.
“Collect the remaining bodies; we're going to capture them,” Wu Heng stated plainly.
The rest of the bodies were rolled up, Xi Ligui directly stowing them in her Space Ring.
The group, along with a host of skeletons, headed straight to the eastern residential area on Lighthouse Street.
The entire block was shrouded in darkness.
Unnaturally silent.
The contingent arrived swiftly at the doorstep.
“Burst in.”
The skeletons at the rear charged headlong at the door.
With a clang, the door was easily burst open, the noise echoing through the night sky, skeletons staggering into the room.
Crack, crack~!
After the skeletons entered, sounds of breaking came from within the room.
Wu Heng casually threw a “Dancing Light Skill” into the room, illuminating it.
A body hung upside-down from the beams, identified by its attire as one of the missing Association members Xi Ligui had mentioned.
The corpse's belly and chest were still burst open.
Several spiders the size of bowls were attacking the skeletons inside the room.
