Chapter 520: Criminal City

Chapter 520: Chapter 520: Criminal City

After dinner with her family, Gu Jin stepped out of the Gu residence.

The evening wind brushed against her skin as she glanced up at the night sky, stars scattered like silver dust across velvet.

She didn’t say much to her relatives that night—just polite farewells and quiet smiles—but inside, her mind was storming.

She arrived at the airport not long after. Pulling her luggage behind her, she checked in and passed through security.

Soon, she was seated in the business class cabin of the airplane, waiting for boarding to be completed.

The soft hum of engines, the cool leather seats, and the low chatter of a few other passengers surrounded her.

As she leaned back and closed her eyes, trying to relax before the flight, a sharp scent suddenly hit her nose.

It wasn’t the usual airplane smell—it was stronger, herbal, almost bitter. Her eyes snapped open.

Poison.

Gu Jin didn’t panic. Without hesitation, she reached into her storage ring and pulled out a small pill, popping it into her mouth in one smooth motion.

Her heart stayed calm, but her senses were now sharp, alert. She looked around carefully, trying to spot anything unusual.

Then, her gaze landed on an air hostess passing by. She pressed the call button above her head. The light blinked softly.

The hostess approached her with a pleasant smile. "Yes, ma’am. Can I help you?"

Gu Jin met her eyes seriously. "Someone is releasing sleeping poison into the air," she said in a quiet but firm voice.

The air hostess blinked, her smile faltering slightly. She stared at Gu Jin for a second too long before saying in a polite tone,

"Ma’am, are you sure? There’s nothing unusual. You might be imagining it."

Gu Jin raised an eyebrow. Her lips pressed together, then she gave a soft laugh and tapped her forehead as if remembering something.

"Oh right," she said lightly, her tone changing. "I forgot. I took a sleeping pill before I boarded. That must be it."

The air hostess relaxed. "Please do take care, ma’am," she said gently before walking away.

Gu Jin said nothing. Once the hostess left, she sat still, fingers slowly tapping on the armrest of her seat, her expression blank but thoughtful.

A few moments passed.

"Were you telling the truth?" a deep voice asked from nearby.

Gu Jin turned her head. Sitting across from her, in the same business class section, was a man dressed in a sleek, dark-blue suit.

His features were sharp, his posture relaxed, but there was a clear air of authority about him, like someone used to giving orders and being obeyed.

She raised an eyebrow. "What?"

He leaned forward slightly. "About the sleeping poison. I said the same thing to the hostess earlier. And she told me I was confused, too."

Gu Jin’s eyes narrowed for a moment. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," she said coolly and looked away.

The man smirked. "If you ignore me, we’re both going to die."

She glanced back, unbothered.

"Relax. If something’s happening, it’s probably in economy class. Business passengers are rarely touched."

He gave her a surprised look, then chuckled. "Wow. That’s heartless."

Gu Jin didn’t respond. She stood up without another word and walked to the restroom.

The man watched her go, eyes thoughtful. Under his breath, he muttered, "Such talent... It’s a shame she doesn’t belong to our country."

He sat back, letting out a quiet sigh, and waited.

The plane took off smoothly.

Time passed. People settled in. Meals were served. Turbulence shook the plane lightly, then stopped.

Eventually, the aircraft landed.

The man looked around and blinked. The girl—Gu Jin—had returned from the restroom earlier, sat down silently, and now... she was gone.

She had left.

He stood, confused. Something didn’t feel right. He quickly made a call on his phone as he walked down the airport corridor.

"The tip was wrong," he said to the person on the other end. "No one made a move. The criminals didn’t act."

But the voice on the other side said something that made his steps freeze.

"What do you mean they were already taken care of?" he asked, voice tightening.

His pace quickened. He made his way back to the airplane through a special route, using his high-level clearance. Inside one of the storage rooms, he unlocked a hidden compartment.

The sight that greeted him made his eyes widen.

There, unconscious and stacked like bundles of cloth, were six men. The international criminals he had been assigned to capture. All knocked out. All gagged. Tied with expert skill and stuffed into the tight space like they were trash.

He blinked. Then cursed softly under his breath.

Turning sharply, he showed his identification to one of the air hostesses nearby. "I need access to the surveillance recordings. Now."

The air hostess paled but nodded, guiding him to the cockpit where the recording artifact was stored. The crystal-like artifact shimmered faintly as it played back the events that occurred on the flight.

He watched closely.

The footage showed Gu Jin silently moving through the aisles while most passengers were asleep.

She had worn a simple mask, changed her appearance slightly, and used sleeping powder of her own to put a few of the guards to sleep.

Then she had quietly ambushed the criminals with a mix of poison needles and pressure point attacks, dragging their bodies unnoticed through the shadows and storing them away.

All of this—flawlessly executed in total silence.

The man stared at the footage in awe.

"She... dealt with them. Alone. Without alerting anyone."

He stepped back slowly, a strange smile on his face.

"No badge. No name. No motive. Just... precision."

He paused.

"I need her identified. Everything you can find. Immediately."

He hung up and looked out the nearest window. Somewhere in the crowd, Gu Jin had already disappeared.

Gu Jin stepped out of the airport and walked quickly toward the street.

The night was cooler here, but her heart still burned with urgency. She hailed a taxi and headed straight for the hotel she had booked earlier.

It was already late, and the journey to the criminal city would take too long by normal means. She needed rest and a plan.

The hotel was quiet when she arrived. A soft golden glow lit the lobby.

After checking in, she took the key card and went straight to her room. Once inside, she locked the door, dropped her bag, and sat on the edge of the bed.

She had just begun to relax when she heard voices coming from the hallway.

Two men were talking, their tones low but filled with disgusting excitement.

"...You saw the news too, right?" one of them whispered. "That girl, Jin Mu... damn, she’s beautiful. Even if she’s a criminal, that kind of face... It’s a waste."

The other man chuckled. "I heard some guys already went to find her in the criminal city. Said they want to ’get a piece of her’ before someone else does."

Gu Jin’s hands clenched tightly.

"And the best part," the first man continued, "this is Country J. They don’t even punish people for messing with criminals. Hell, we could probably take her as a sex slave, and no one would care. She’s Chinese anyway."

Gu Jin’s breath caught.

A dark pressure filled her chest. Her fingers trembled slightly before she took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

But then—

"She’s still in the criminal city, right? We’d better hurry, or someone else will take her first."

Gu Jin’s heart dropped.

Her cousin. Jin Mu.

She could be in danger right now.

Gu Jin stood up without another thought. She didn’t care about sleep anymore. There was no time. She opened her storage ring, pulled out a black card, and rushed back down to the hotel lobby.

The receptionist looked up in surprise as she walked over, eyes sharp and determined.

"Where is the nearest teleportation array?" Gu Jin asked.

The woman blinked. "There’s one in the central tower. But... it’s expensive. A single jump is 500 million yuan."

Gu Jin didn’t hesitate. "Prepare it."

She handed over the card. The receptionist gasped slightly at the amount, but she obeyed.

Not long after, Gu Jin stood inside a tall tower glowing with symbols. The teleportation array beneath her feet hummed with power. A moment later, the space around her twisted—and she vanished.

Criminal City – Night

Gu Jin appeared in the heart of the most dangerous city in Country J.

The moment she stepped out of the teleportation portal, eyes turned toward her.

Men in ragged coats, scarred faces, and wicked grins stared openly. Some of them whispered to each other.

"Who’s that girl? New here?"

"She’s got a good face... and figure."

"Tch. Chinese? She won’t last a night."

Gu Jin kept walking, ignoring their words. Her expression was cold. Her footsteps steady. But her fists were tight at her sides.

She wanted to kill everyone of them—but she didn’t have time.

Not now.
