The Mighty Mage -
Chapter 511: Solaris-2
Chapter 511: Chapter 511: Solaris-2
The thunder slash collided with the dark shield the undead had raised, and shattered like glass.
Liu Yuan’s eyes widened. "What...?"
Before he could recover, the undead moved.
Fast.
In an instant, it vanished from where it stood and reappeared right in front of him. Its hollow green eyes locked onto Liu Yuan’s shocked face.
With one bony hand, it raised a glowing black flame.
FWOOSH!
The flames weren’t normal fire. They twisted and flickered unnaturally, burning cold and dark, as if sucking the light out of the air around it.
A wave of shadowy heat surged forward, straight at Liu Yuan.
Liu Yuan barely had time to bring up his sword in defense.
CRACK!
His enchanted sword cracked from the impact.
The flames didn’t stop.
They exploded around him, engulfing him in a dome of dark fire that roared with power. The force pushed him back, sliding across the arena floor until he hit the protective barrier behind him with a thud.
The crowd gasped.
"W-what was that?!"
"She didn’t even move!"
"It’s just her undead—how is it that strong?!"
Inside the battlefield, Liu Yuan panted, his armor scorched, his sword now a half-melted chunk. His thunder aura flickered weakly.
The undead didn’t give him a second chance.
It raised its arm again, forming another sphere of black fire and launching it forward like a bullet.
Liu Yuan’s eyes widened.
"No!"
BOOM!
Another explosion rocked the stage.
The referee quickly raised a protective barrier to stop the flames from spilling into the crowd. Smoke filled the battlefield, and silence followed.
When the smoke cleared... Liu Yuan lay on the ground, coughing, his armor completely cracked, his sword destroyed, and his aura vanished.
He could no longer fight.
The undead stood silently beside Gu Jin, its body hunched but unmoving, like a grim sentinel.
Gu Jin hadn’t even stepped forward once.
The referee, stunned, took a second before announcing, "W-Winner—Gu Jin!"
The crowd burst into chaotic whispers.
"She didn’t even lift a finger!"
"She only summoned one undead... and that was enough?"
"I thought Liu Yuan was in the top ten! What kind of monster did she summon?"
"Wait... is that even a normal undead? It used dark energy. That’s incredibly rare."
"But that flame didn’t feel like regular dark energy—it felt... deeper. Stronger. Scarier."
"She’s been hiding this the whole time..."
Up in the VIP stands, some of the professors and high-ranking mages sat up straighter.
"That’s not an average undead summoner," one of them said, his brow furrowed.
"Her undead fought like a Super Rank mage. And that dark fire—I’ve never seen an undead wield it so smoothly."
"Could it be a mutated undead? Or... an artificial one?"
Meanwhile, down in the arena, Liu Yuan was helped off the battlefield, his head lowered in defeat.
He didn’t even have the strength to speak.
His pride had been shattered in just two minutes.
The whispers turned into a storm.
"Nan Bei said Gu Jin was a coward... but look at this!"
"She wasn’t avoiding battles because she was weak... she was too strong to bother."
"She finished Liu Yuan faster than any match today."
"She’s terrifying..."
Gu Jin remained quiet.
She gently raised a hand, and the undead slowly melted back into the summoning circle with a low hiss, disappearing from sight.
She turned and walked off the stage calmly, not even sparing a glance at the defeated Liu Yuan.
To her, this wasn’t revenge or showing off.
It was simply proving a point.
She didn’t need to speak.
Her power spoke for her.
And now, everyone knew:
Gu Jin wasn’t someone they could look down on.
.....
"Next match: Gu Jin vs. Fang Liren!"
The crowd had barely recovered from the last battle when the next match was called. People leaned forward, eyes fixed on the stage.
Fang Liren was known for his speed. An assassin-type mage, ranked 8th in the university rankings.
His wind element and stealth techniques were second to none.
He stepped onto the arena, spinning twin daggers in his hands.
"You’re strong," he said, grinning. "But let’s see how you handle speed."
Gu Jin, as always, said nothing. She raised her hand and summoned the same undead again.
The match began with a loud clang.
Fang Liren disappeared into a gust of wind.
"Where’d he go?!"
"There! Behind her!"
A blur zipped behind Gu Jin, but the undead was faster.
Without turning, it raised its hand and shot a jet of black flame behind her. BOOM!
Fang Liren was blown backward, crashing onto the stage floor with a burnt shoulder and broken daggers.
He staggered to his feet, panting. "How...?"
The undead didn’t wait.
A second blast of dark fire surged forward, and Fang Liren barely threw up a wind barrier before being slammed into the ground again.
He didn’t get up.
"Winner—Gu Jin!"
Now, people weren’t just whispering.
They were shouting.
"She took down Fang Liren with one undead again?!"
"Is she even human?!"
.......
"Gu Jin vs. Shen Miaoyan!"
Shen Miaoyan walked out confidently, a powerful water and ice element mage, ranked 6th. Elegant, graceful, but deadly.
This time, Gu Jin summoned two undead.
The crowd gasped.
"She increased the number."
"Is she finally getting serious?"
The battle began with Shen Miaoyan summoning ice spears that shot toward Gu Jin like deadly arrows. A wall of ice erupted around her.
But both undead lifted their hands.
Twin waves of black flame spiraled outward, melting the ice before it even touched them.
The heat was so strong, even the referee’s protection barrier shimmered.
Shen Miaoyan was forced to retreat, creating a frozen shield.
But it didn’t help.
One undead launched a high-speed black flame projectile, and the second summoned a ground spike—an earth spell disguised as dark energy.
The ice cracked, then exploded.
Shen Miaoyan was flung backward, landing hard on the ground. Her shoulder was scorched, and blood trickled down her lip.
"Shen Miaoyan is unable to continue! Winner—Gu Jin!"
The audience was stunned.
"She made Shen Miaoyan look like a beginner..."
"Two undeads! And she still hasn’t cast a single spell herself!"
........
Lei Kun, ranked 8th, stepped onto the stage next. A thunder user, with raw power and a short temper.
"I’m not like those weaklings," he growled, glaring at Gu Jin. "I won’t go down easily."
Gu Jin summoned three undead this time.
All three appeared beside her in perfect formation, black fire pulsing in their hands like heartbeats.
"Match begins!"
Lei Kun charged, thunder crashing around him like a storm. He struck the ground, sending a massive bolt of lightning at Gu Jin.
The three undead moved.
One absorbed the thunder with a wall of dark fire.
The second sent a wave of explosive black flames at Lei Kun’s feet, forcing him into the air.
The third created an illusion using flickering dark light, making it look like Lei Kun was surrounded from all sides.
Before he could react, he was blasted from three directions at once.
CRACK—BOOM—CRASH!
He lay on the ground, twitching, his armor broken.
"Winner—Gu Jin!"
"She took down the 4th rank... without even moving!"
"Three undead... just how strong is she?!"
Just like that, Gu Jin ascended to the top 10 ranking battles.
Mo Yufeng, ranked 7th. A defense-type mage with earth and metal affinity. Known as the ’Iron Fortress.’
His armor was thick, and he carried a huge iron shield almost as tall as himself.
Gu Jin walked out silently, summoning four undead.
The audience exploded with noise.
"She summoned four this time!"
"Is Mo Yufeng that strong?!"
As the match began, Mo Yufeng used all his strength to create a metal dome around himself. "Try breaking this!" he shouted.
The four undead circled him. One shot a continuous stream of black fire onto the dome. Another began pounding the ground, sending shockwaves.
The third created cracks beneath the dome with a disguised earth spell. The fourth summoned fire to heat the air, causing pressure to build inside.
BOOM!
The dome shattered.
Before Mo Yufeng could react, a blast of dark fire engulfed him.
He fell to his knees, groaning, completely defeated.
Gu Jin didn’t even blink.
The crowd was speechless.
"She broke through his defense?"
"She’s a monster..."
Gu Jin’s last ranking match for the day was Nan Bei.
The arena quieted as soon as Nan Bei’s name was called.
She was ranked 6th.
She had been the loudest in mocking Gu Jin over the past few months.
Nan Bei walked up, her lips curled in a cold smirk.
"Finally, Gu Jin... finally we met. You don’t know how long I was waiting for this day."
Gu Jin didn’t answer.
She summoned five undead.
The crowd stood up in awe.
Nan Bei’s eyes narrowed.
"Bring it."
The match began, and chaos exploded.
Nan Bei created layers of illusion and mirrored clones, confusing the battlefield. Her mana pressure tried to crush Gu Jin’s mind.
But Gu Jin’s expression never changed.
The five undead moved in perfect harmony, destroying illusions, forcing Nan Bei to retreat, trapping her in a flaming circle.
Nan Bei screamed as a focused beam of black fire slammed into her mental barrier, cracking it.
