The Mighty Mage
Chapter 350: Kneel

Chapter 350: Chapter 350: Kneel

The figure turned slowly, his face partially hidden by his long, disheveled hair. It was him, but something was different.

His usual calm and composed demeanor had been replaced by a wild, almost feral look in his eyes.

His clothes were tattered, and faint scars glowed on his skin, remnants of the energy that had coursed through him during his breakthrough.

Yet he looked much more handsome.

"Jasmine..." he said, his voice hoarse and strained.

She ran toward him, stopping just a few feet away. "Are you okay?" she asked, her eyes scanning him for injuries.

Yifan nodded slowly, though his movements were stiff. "I’m fine. Just... exhausted."

Jasmine sighed in relief but quickly noticed the tension in his posture. "What happened here?"

Yifan glanced around, his gaze distant. "The breakthrough... it was stronger than I expected. The elements clashed violently, and I couldn’t control them at first."

He took a deep breath, his voice steadier now. "But I did it. I broke through."

Jasmine smiled, pride filling her chest. "I knew you would."

Suddenly Long Yifa paused and asked, "How is Gu Jin?"

"Don’t worry, she is fine. The only problem is..." Jasmine’s expression turned worried as she continued, "She seems to have integrated with the Gu Family."

Long Yifan was instantly on alert, "Oh no! Gu Aihan must have harmed her! Let’s go quickly!"

Jasmine was stunned by her brother’s sudden outburst. For the past few years, her brother hardly ever showed his true feelings for Gu Jin.

But now...

Has he finally accepted his feelings for Gu Jin?

Jasmine was overjoyed. Yet she stopped Long Yifan and explained to him, "Yifan I have good news for you."

Long Yifan frowned, "Sister you can tell me the good news later, I need to be by Gu Jin’s side."

In a low voice, he started to mutter, "What if she was getting bullied by the Gu family?"

The more Long Yifan thought so, the more sure he was.

His eyes blazed with intensity. As long as the Gu Family dares to take action against Gu Jin, he will burn the entire Gu Family.

Jasmine held his hand and said,

"It is related to the Gu Family. Gu Aihan, she is not the biological daughter of the Gu Family!"

Long Yifan froze in his tracks, his eyes wide as he stared at Jasmine. "What did you just say?" he asked, his voice low but sharp.

Jasmine looked at him calmly and repeated,

"Gu Aihan... she’s not the biological daughter of the Gu Family."

The words echoed in his mind, and for a moment, Long Yifan couldn’t process them.

His heart pounded in his chest, and his usually composed face twisted with disbelief.

"Are you sure?" he asked, his tone insistent.

Jasmine nodded firmly. "Yes, Yifan. I confirmed it myself."

Long Yifan’s expression darkened as memories flooded back to him. He remembered how he had taken Gu Aihan’s side instead of Gu Jin.

He clenched his fists, guilt gnawing at him. How could he have been so blind? Gu Aihan had attacked Gu Jin multiple times.

"I let her go..." he muttered bitterly, his voice filled with regret.

Jasmine tilted her head, her sharp eyes catching the subtle shift in her brother’s demeanor. "Yifan, what are you thinking?"

He took a deep breath, his expression turning cold and resolute.

"I’m thinking about all the times I failed Gu Jin. How I stood by and let Gu Aihan hurt her without consequence. I was wrong. I have to make things right."

Jasmine’s heart softened.

She had always known her brother was stubborn, but seeing him this determined made her believe he could change things.

Long Yifan turned to Jasmine, his tone commanding.

"Find Gu Aihan for me. I don’t care where she’s hiding—I need to confront her. She needs to answer for everything she’s done to Gu Jin."

Jasmine understood what her brother meant. He was going to torture Gu Aihan.

Jasmine hesitated for a moment, sensing the intensity in his words. "Are you sure about this? Confronting her won’t change the past."

"I know," Yifan replied firmly.

"But it’s not about the past anymore. It’s about Gu Jin. I need to protect her, to make sure she’s never hurt again. Gu Aihan has to be dealt with, or she’ll keep coming after her."

Jasmine nodded, understanding her brother’s resolve.

She knew how deeply he cared for Gu Jin, even if he had taken far too long to admit it.

Yifan’s gaze softened slightly as his thoughts shifted to Gu Jin

"I’ve decided," he said quietly but firmly.

Jasmine looked at him curiously. "Decided what?"

"I’m going to break off the engagement with the Gu Family," Yifan declared. His voice was steady, but there was an undertone of finality that left no room for doubt.

Jasmine’s eyes widened in surprise. "Yifan, are you sure? "

Yifan nodded, his expression unwavering.

"I know it was Mother’s last wish, but I can’t keep living like this. I can’t marry the second daughter of the Gu Family—not when I love Gu Jin. She’s the one I want to spend my life with. No one else."

Jasmine’s heart skipped a beat at his confession. For years, she had waited for her brother to admit his feelings.

Now, hearing him say it out loud, she felt a wave of relief.

"What if she doesn’t forgive you?" Jasmine asked cautiously.

Yifan’s jaw tightened, but his voice softened.

"Then I’ll beg for her forgiveness. I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right. Even if she never accepts me, I’ll protect her from afar. I just want her to be safe and happy."

Jasmine placed a hand on his shoulder, her gaze filled with pride.

"If you’re this serious, then I’ll help you. Let’s go and break off the engagement first, and then you can focus on Gu Jin."

Yifan nodded, a spark of determination igniting in his eyes. He would make things right. For Gu Jin, for himself, and for the future he wanted to build with her.

..................

The banquet for Gu Jin was originally going to be held on the 3rd day. But an unexpected event happened.

On 3rd day, the elders of the Gu Family along with Gu Aihan arrived at the Gu Family.

There were only three elders in the Gu Family.

The third Elder was Mr. Gu’s father, and the first elder was Mr. Gu’s grandfather, and the second elder was Mr. Gu’s grandfather’s brother.

The second elder had his own branch family and hardly ever interacted with the first elder’s family until and unless they thought it was necessary to intervene.

The grand living room of the Gu Family estate was silent except for the faint crackle of a fire in the corner.

The first elder, an imposing figure with a long white beard and piercing eyes, sat in a large chair at the center of the room.

His expression was grim, his lips pressed into a thin line. Beside him sat the second elder, who had an air of detachment.

Gu Aihan stood behind them, a smug smile playing on her lips.

She crossed her arms, her gaze fixed on Gu Jin.

There was a mocking glint in her eyes as if she had already won whatever game she was playing.

Mr. Gu, the head of the family, and Gu Jin’s father stood before the elders.

His back was straight, his face filled with confusion and defiance.

The first elder’s voice cut through the tense air like a blade.

"Do you know what wrong you have done, Mr. Gu?"

Mr. Gu frowned, his voice firm but respectful.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about, First Elder."

The elder’s eyes narrowed, and his voice grew cold.

"You’ve brought shame to the Gu Family! Kneel and repent!"

Mr. Gu’s face darkened.

"I have done nothing wrong, and I will not kneel for a crime I didn’t commit."

The first elder laughed, though there was no humor in it. His voice was sharp, filled with anger.

"Stubborn, are you? Let’s see how long you can last!"

With a wave of his hand, an invisible force pressed down on Mr. Gu.

It was heavy, suffocating, and filled with the elder’s authority. Mr. Gu staggered slightly, his knees buckling under the weight.

Gu Jin, who had been quietly observing from the side, stood up suddenly.

Her sharp gaze locked onto the first elder as she moved to stand directly in front of her father.

The pressure that had been crushing Mr. Gu now shifted entirely onto Gu Jin.

Everyone in the room froze, their eyes widening in shock.

Even under the weight of the elder’s power, Gu Jin remained standing. Her body bent slightly under the force, but she did not kneel. Her cold, determined gaze never wavered.

The first elder’s face twisted in anger. "You dare defy me?" he roared, increasing the pressure even further.

Gu Aihan’s smug expression faltered, replaced by disbelief.

But Gu Jin didn’t flinch. Her legs trembled slightly, but her back remained straight, her head held high.

She stared directly into the first elder’s eyes, her voice clear and unwavering.
