Chapter 338: I Am Gu Jin

Chapter 338: Chapter 338: I Am Gu Jin

Gu Jihu and Long Yifan exchanged stunned glances.

Gu Jin’s whisper, "I... am Gu Jin," still echoed in their minds, leaving a trail of confusion and unease.

Before either man could probe further, Gu Jin raised her hand, silencing them with a slight motion. Her emerald eyes softened for the first time, betraying a hint of vulnerability.

"I am... a part of her," she began, her voice low yet resonant. "I have always been with her, but I was dormant... separated. Circumstances beyond my control drew me out." Her gaze turned distant as though peering into a world only she could see. "The true Gu Jin remains within this body. But now, I exist alongside her."

Long Yifan’s brows furrowed deeply, and Gu Jihu’s fists clenched at his sides. This cryptic explanation raised more questions than it answered.

"What do you mean by ’separated’? And why now?" Long Yifan demanded, his voice carrying both desperation and frustration.

Before Gu Jin could respond, her body wavered, her knees buckling slightly. Both men instinctively moved to catch her, but she held up a trembling hand to stop them.

Her breathing grew ragged, and the aura around her began to shift violently, its once-cold stability spiraling into chaos. Her emerald hair began to darken, streaks of black spreading from the roots like ink bleeding through parchment.

Gu Jin’s eyes flickered between her otherworldly green and the familiar, red they once were.

"I..." she muttered faintly, her voice cracking. "Something’s wrong..."

Her body convulsed, and she collapsed. Long Yifan reacted instantly, catching her before she hit the ground.

"Gu Jin!" he called out, his voice thick with panic. He pulled her close, his arms encircling her as if to shield her from the turbulent aura threatening to tear her apart.

Gu Jihu moved swiftly, his eyes scanning Gu Jin’s trembling form.

"Her body is rejecting the surge in cultivation," Gu Jihu said, his tone grave. "It’s too much for her to handle. If we don’t suppress it, she could—" He didn’t finish the sentence, the implications too dire.

Long Yifan’s eyes burned with determination as he held Gu Jin tighter. "Then suppress it! Do whatever it takes to stabilize her!"

Gu Jihu nodded, closing his eyes as he began chanting an incantation. A soft golden light enveloped his hands, his fingers tracing complex runes in the air.

"Her cultivation must be forced back to Emperor Rank," he muttered, the strain evident in his voice. "Anything higher, and her body will break under the pressure."

The golden light spread toward Gu Jin, surrounding her like a protective cocoon.

Gu Jin’s body shuddered violently as the golden light merged with her aura.

"Hold her steady!" Gu Jihu shouted, sweat beading on his forehead as he intensified the spell.

"I won’t let her go," Long Yifan growled through clenched teeth, his grip unwavering.

The light around Gu Jin pulsed, growing brighter with each passing second.

The streaks of black in her hair receded, replaced by their natural emerald hue.

Her aura, though still unstable, began to calm.

Finally, with one last surge of golden light, Gu Jin’s aura stabilized, settling firmly within the boundaries of Emperor Rank.

"She’s stable for now," Gu Jihu said, his voice hoarse.

Long Yifan exhaled deeply, relief washing over him.

However, the respite was short-lived.

A faint, golden glow began emanating from Long Yifan’s body, growing brighter with each passing moment.

Gu Jihu noticed the sudden change and frowned. "Your aura—what’s happening?"

Long Yifan’s face twisted in panic as he looked down at his hands, which were now glowing faintly with golden threads of light.

The energy coursing through him was wild and unstable, threatening to spiral out of control.

"No... not now," Long Yifan muttered under his breath, clutching Gu Jin tighter before looking up at Gu Jihu. "You have to go. Now."

"What? Why?" Gu Jihu’s brows furrowed in confusion.

Long Yifan’s expression hardened. "I’m about to break through, and it’s going to be violent. If you stay, the backlash from my breakthrough might harm you—and Gu Jin."

"But—" Gu Jihu began to argue, but Long Yifan cut him off, his voice firm and commanding.

"There’s no time to explain! Leave, now! And send a teleportation scroll to the magic world in three days. I’ll contact you when it’s safe."

Gu Jihu hesitated for a brief moment, his sharp gaze studying Long Yifan. The golden energy around Long Yifan was intensifying, crackling like static electricity, and his aura was expanding rapidly.

Understanding the urgency, Gu Jihu nodded reluctantly, his expression complex. He took Gu Jin from his hand.

He glanced back, his voice calm but firm. "Don’t die, Long Yifan."

Long Yifan managed a small, reassuring smile. "I won’t. Go."

With that, Gu Jihu disappeared into the dense forest, his movements quick and decisive.

Meanwhile, Gu Jihu reached the area where the Magic Council members were gathered.

The group of ten, clad in official robes adorned with intricate magical symbols, was busy repairing the remnants of the safety zone’s barrier.

Their leader, a stern-faced woman with piercing blue eyes, looked up as Gu Jihu approached.

"Has the barrier been restored?" Gu Jihu asked, his tone sharp but composed.

The leader nodded. "We’ve stabilized it for now. No beasts should be able to breach it again."

Her eyes landed on Gu Jin and he asked with a smile, "You have found your sister?"

Gu Jihu nodded, his eyes unconsciously looked at Gu Jin and gentleness flashed in his eyes.

The leader of the Magic Council group, her stern expression softening slightly, noticed the unconscious Gu Jin in Gu Jihu’s arms.

"She seems unstable. Is she all right?"

"She will be," Gu Jihu replied, his tone steady, though concern flickered in his eyes. "I’ve stabilized her for now, but I need to get her to safety."

Gu Jihu turned his attention back to the group, his voice regaining its commanding edge.

"We need to leave immediately. Tear a teleportation scroll and return to headquarters. Do not linger."

The council members exchanged quick glances, sensing the urgency in his tone.

Their leader pulled out a scroll from within her robes, its surface glowing faintly with intricate runes.

She turned to her team. "Prepare for departure."

The council leader tore the glowing teleportation scroll in half, creating a vibrant spatial tear shimmering with rippling energy.

The council members moved quickly, stepping into the vortex one by one.

Gu Jihu followed, holding Gu Jin securely in his arms.

The light from the portal enveloped them, and the world blurred into a kaleidoscope of colors.

Moments later, Gu Jihu emerged from the portal into the familiar surroundings of Beijing University’s main teleportation hub.

Gu Jihu gently shifted Gu Jin in his arms,

"There’s one more student left in the Forgotten Elemental World. You need to send a teleportation scroll to him in two days."

The leader’s expression darkened, her brows knitting in frustration.

"You should’ve mentioned this earlier! Why leave a student behind in a world as volatile as that?"

Gu Jihu met her glare evenly.

"He’s on the verge of breaking through to the Transcendent level."

The leader’s anger faltered,

"A Transcendent breakthrough," she murmured, more to herself than anyone else. Her sharp gaze returned to Gu Jihu.

"That much raw energy could destabilize the teleportation network—or worse, cause catastrophic damage here. I see your point. Leaving him there temporarily was the right choice."

Gu Jihu nodded curtly. "He’ll contact us when it’s safe. Ensure the scroll reaches him."

The leader sighed, waving him off. "Fine"

Without another word, Gu Jihu turned and hurried toward the exit with Gu Jin still cradled in his arms.

Just as he reached the gate, a cheerful voice called out behind him. "Second Brother!"

Gu Jihu turned to see Gu Aihan, her figure lithe and graceful as she approached with a lively wave.

Her smile, however, froze mid-motion when her eyes fell on Gu Jin.

The cheerful light in her expression dimmed.

"What..." Gu Aihan’s voice faltered as she stormed toward him. Her brows furrowed, and her tone turned sharp.

"Why are you carrying her, Second Brother? Why is she here?"

Her voice trembled with suppressed anger. "Do you even know who she is?"

Then as if realizing something she clapped her hand and said,

"Oh! You might not know this! She is Gu Jin. The woman I was talking about. She is trying to seduce my fiance as well as constantly put me in danger!

Second Brother, you have to do justice for me! You dote on me the most, right? Then teach a lesson to her on my behalf! Please! Hey! Second Brother! Where are you going?"

Gu Aihan was stunned when she saw Gu Jihu leaving without waiting for Gu Aihan to complete her words.

"Second brother?" Gu Aihan’s voice rose, filled with disbelief and mounting frustration. She hurried after him, her tone shifting from indignation to pleading.

"Are you seriously ignoring me? Do you even hear what I’m saying?"
