Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Teaching A Lesson.

But her kindness and selflessness only deepened their loyalty.

One by one, they began to nod, their eyes alight with a renewed sense of devotion.

"You have our word," the elderly man said, his voice strong.

"If ever there comes a day when you are wronged or falsely accused, we will stand by you. We owe you that much, and far more."

Another person chimed in,

"Anyone who accuses you unjustly will have to deal with all of us, Miss Gu Jin. You have my promise."

Gu Jin felt a surge of satisfaction, though she kept her face composed, a calm smile gracing her lips.

Deep inside, she knew the seeds she had just sown could prove invaluable in the uncertain future.

Should the government or any other powerful entity decide to turn against her, she now had the support of these people—a support built on gratitude and loyalty.

The people continued to voice their promises, each one pledging their support and expressing a willingness to stand by her side.

Gu Jin met each of their gazes with a smile on her face and her sincere gratitude.

"Thank you," she said softly, bowing her head. "I will always do my best to be worthy of your trust."

"Master you are very smart." The space praised.

Gu Jin smiled,

"Got use your brain when you have bad luck and a not-so-well-informed space."

The space decided to be silent.

One by one the crowd left after conveying their gratitude.

Gu Jin returned to her villa.

She tidied up the area and took out Song Hancheng, and Su Qing.

They were unconscious for a long time before waking up.

Once they did the first thing they asked was whether they had reached some other city or not.

Gu Jin had already changed her attire by then.

She gave them a brief description of the situation and asked them to not worry.

Song Hancheng and Su Qing heaved a sigh of relief. Song Hancheng asked Su Qing to stay at home while he rushed to the shop.

Gu Jin asked the space to search whether there were any parasites nearby and once she was sure that no parasites were found within 10 km of her villa, she left Su Qing at her villa.

For an extra layer of safety, she left 2 skeleton warriors in Su Qing’s shadow and told her the truth,

"I have placed two skeleton warriors in your shadow. If they feel that you are in danger they will protect you, so be afraid of them."

Su Qing’s eyes softened,

"Thank you so much."

Gu Jin shook her head,

"No need. I don’t the CEO of my company to beat me because of my negligence."

Su Qing smiled and asked,

"Till how long are you thinking of hiding your real identity from my fiance."

Gu Jin smiled,

"I was testing him in the past 3 years, but to my surprise, he is truly an idiot. Looks like I have to tell him the truth in person.

How about this I will tell him the truth, once I return."

"Good idea." Su Qing agreed.

Gu Jin left and Su Qing thought about how she had discovered that Gu Jin was a woman.

Gu Jin was a cold person. But hidden beneath that cold person was a warm-hearted person. She never asked her(Su Qing) to make pills when she was on her period.

Gu Jin never tried to pry in her matters, she always supported her(Su Qing), and even helped her to heal her father.

However, Gu Jin’s action made Su Qing wary too. She saw Gu Jin as her younger brother( she is talking about the time she didn’t know the truth).

Sometimes Gu Jin punished Song Hancheng just because he made her(Su Qing) angry.

Su Qing was worried that Gu Jin aka Su Jin might have some feelings for her. Something more than a younger brother should feel for his sister.

She was worried to the point that she wanted to quit.

If what she was thinking was true and Gu Jin liked her, then there were chances that Gu Jin might kick Song Hancheng at some point.

Or worse, he(Gu Jin aka Su Jin) might kick her out if she didn’t agree to his advances.

Just when she was worried, she accidentally saw a person very similar to Su Jin. The only difference was the person was a woman.

Su Qing went forward to ask that woman whether she was Su Jin’s sister but the woman disappeared and suddenly Su Jin appeared.

A trace of doubt was planted in her mind and she decided to follow Su Jin whenever he left after meeting them.

Sure enough, she noticed how each time, Su Jin left and disappeared in the alley after meeting them, the woman with red eyes and black hair would appear mysteriously.

It didn’t take long for Su Qing to understand the mystery and she confronted Gu Jin. To her surprise, Gu Jin told her the truth.

That made Su Qing wonder whether she was worrying for nothing the entire time.

However, Su Qing felt relaxed from that moment on and she felt relaxed whenever Gu Jin was around.

One time Song Hancheng even asked whether she knew something that made her so relaxed, at that time Su Qing only smiled since Gu Jin told her to not tell anything to Song Hancheng.

Gu Jin slipped silently into the grand villa nestled far beyond the city.

The skeletal warrior, who had tracked Auric’s every move since the town square, had guided her there.

As Gu Jin made her way into the mansion’s vast halls, the sound of furious shouts and glass shattering drew her closer to a large, lavishly furnished room.

Inside, Auric was in a frenzy. She paced back and forth, her face flushed with anger as she threw objects at a trembling maid who cowered near the doorway.

"That insolent Gu Jin!" Auric shrieked, her voice dripping with fury.

"How dare she humiliate me! That pathetic crowd should have seen her for the fraud she is!"

The maid attempted to retreat quietly, but Auric hurled a delicate porcelain vase across the room, barely missing her.

"Stand still, you fool!" Auric snarled. "How dare you flinch? You’re all as worthless as she is!"

But suddenly, there was a shift in the air, and before Auric could comprehend what was happening, Gu Jin stood right before her, silent and unyielding, her eyes gleaming with an eerie calm.

"Having fun, Auric?" Gu Jin’s voice was a smooth, almost mocking whisper.

Auric froze, her eyes widening in horror as she registered Gu Jin’s presence.

She stumbled back, her face pale as if her very soul had been ripped from her body.

"Y-you! How... How did you get here?" she stammered, her voice breaking as she struggled to maintain her composure.

She took another shaky step backward, her eyes darting wildly around the room.

"Guards! Guards!" she shrieked, desperation lacing her voice as she tried to put distance between herself and Gu Jin.

Gu Jin tilted her head, an amused smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

"Oh, don’t bother calling for them, Auric. They’re occupied at the moment."

As her words sank in, Auric’s face contorted in fear.

She pressed herself against the wall, eyes darting toward the door in a futile hope for escape.

"What... what do you want from me?" she demanded, her voice faltering as she forced herself to sound defiant.

"I have powerful friends, you know. You can’t just barge in here!"

Gu Jin’s gaze remained steady, her smile never faltering.

"I came because I was curious," she replied smoothly, her tone unhurried.

"When I heard you shouting my name in such... colorful language, I thought I’d ask why. Have I wronged you, Auric?"

Auric’s bravado crumbled as she fumbled for words.

"Wronged me?" she spat, attempting to regain her nerve.

"You’re the one who’s wronged me by stealing the glory that should have been mine! I am the real hero, Gu Jin. Not some... some undead awakener who can trick a crowd with parlor tricks!"

Gu Jin’s eyes narrowed slightly, though her smile remained.

"Interesting choice of words," she said.

"I saved those people, Auric. I gave them safety and peace—a peace you tried to rip away with your lies and deceit."

She took a step closer, and Auric flinched, the bravado vanishing once more.

"But let’s not dwell on that," Gu Jin continued, her voice calm.

"I simply wanted to see the face of the woman who so confidently tried to take my place."

"Eh? What are you saying? Can’t you see my blue eyes and black hair?" Auric shouted.

Her fingers were trembling which she tried her best to hide but failed.

"Hm? Are you talking about the fake blue lens hiding your true eye color and the fake skin you are wearing? Or maybe it is the wig. Anyways, all of them are ineffective against me." Gu Jin smiled widely.
