The Mighty Mage
Chapter 290: Universe

Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Universe

Taking advantage that Gu Jin’s lips were opened, Long Yifan pushed his tongue inside her mouth.

The battle continued and whenever Gu Jin showed even a bit of resistance, Long Yifan used many tricks to keep her silent.

By the end, Gu Jin’s eyes turned slightly dewy, making her red eyes shine like rubies. Her plump lips looked even more swollen.

The contrast between the newly formed red hickeys and pale skin, made her look fragile and delicate. Her breathing was rapid and her entire skin was flushed.

To Long Yifan, Gu Jin looked even more tempting than she usually looked. She was aroused and right under him, does he still need anything in his life? Nope.

He slowly moved to her neck, but before he could continue, a hand pushed him away and Long Yifan’s eyes snapped open.

He found himself back in his bedroom.

The luxurious mansion, the soft bed, and—most painfully—Gu Jin, all vanished in an instant.

He blinked rapidly, disoriented, only to find himself back in his own bedroom, the familiar shadows of the night draped across the walls.

It had been a dream.

His heart clenched painfully as the reality sank in, a heavy wave of emptiness settling deep in his chest.

He sat up slowly, the feeling of Gu Jin’s warmth still lingering on his skin, her touch ghosting over his senses.

But it was all gone—just a cruel illusion.

The intense emotions he had felt only moments ago, the taste of her lips, the softness of her skin—they were nothing but fragments of his unconscious mind.

Long Yifan ran a trembling hand through his hair, trying to steady his breathing, but the sense of loss gnawed at him.

The dream had felt so vivid, so real, that for a few blissful moments, he had allowed himself to believe in it.

To believe that he had held her, kissed her, and been with her in a way that he had only ever dared to imagine.

But now, sitting in the cold, empty room, he realized how foolish he had been.

The reality was much harsher. Gu Jin was far out of his reach, and the bond between them—a bond he had never truly forged—was nothing more than a distant fantasy.

He would never have the chance to be with her, to hold her like he had in his dream.

"Why... why does it have to be this way?" he whispered to the darkness, his voice barely audible.

His hands clenched the sheets, the fabric crumpling beneath his fingers.

His eyes stung, and despite his best efforts to hold them back, tears began to well up.

He wiped at them angrily, frustrated with himself for feeling so weak, but the pain in his heart refused to subside.

The ache of longing, the sense of hopelessness—it all built up inside him until he could no longer contain it.

Tears slid silently down his cheeks.

"I’ll never have her," he muttered bitterly, his voice cracking as he spoke. "She’ll never be mine."

He had always known, of course.

"I was so close..." he whispered, his voice breaking as the tears continued to fall.

"So close, and now it’s gone."

He wiped at his face again, but the tears kept coming, refusing to be stopped. His chest ached with pain.

"Why does it hurt so much?" he asked, his voice trembling as he spoke to the empty room.

"Why do I feel like I’m losing something I never even had?"

Long Yifan leaned forward, burying his face in his hands as his shoulders shook with silent sobs.

The dream had left him feeling more alone than ever, reminding him of the distance between him and the one person he wanted more than anything.

"Why couldn’t it be real?" he choked out, his voice muffled by his hands.

The tears kept falling, soaking into the sheets, and Long Yifan let himself cry for the future he would never have.

And he would continue to love her silently, from a distance, even though it was tearing him apart.

As the minutes passed, the tears eventually slowed, leaving him feeling drained and hollow.

Suddenly he remembered something his mother had once told him,

"Yifan, whatever you ask from the universe, the universe will give it to you."

Long Yifan gritted his teeth and suddenly clasped his hand and closed his eyes,

"I wish Gu Jin become my wife. I want a chance. A fair chance where I will have the right to pursue her. A fair chance to have a relationship with her. A fair chance where Gu Jin still hasn’t vowed to never love me again."

Long Yifan knew he was being foolish and the prayer would not help him. But he did it anyway.

Miracles exist, then let god show him one.

As long as he can get Gu Jin, he will forget all the bitterness he had to endure till now.

Maybe the universe was truly provoked by Long Yifan’s words or maybe the universe was moved by Long Yifan’s sincerity because when he was about to completely lose his happiness, his wishes were answered.

In Fujio City.

Two white-cloaked figures were discussing something and finally reached a conclusion.

"The matter is too confusing, it’s better if we consult with our heads before recognizing her." The first figure with a slightly short height said.

"You are correct. One of them is lying. How can there be two Aurics? I highly suspect that the first one was a scammer or actor hired by our enemy." The second white-cloaked figure pointed out.

"You are correct. Let’s keep a watch on the first one as well as the second for the time being. Though we are in a hurry, we can’t recognize the wrong one!" The first white-cloaked figure stated with a serious expression.

"Exactly. But I must say, the second one’s performance was very good. She was the main reason as to why the parasites were easily defeated.

However, what I can’t understand is...who is the guy who saved the second one from Erinyes and Lamashtu. He was powerful...if we could recruit him in..." The second white-cloaked figure’s eyes flashed with greed.

"No need. From his aura, artifacts he was carrying, and cultivation I think he belongs to some very powerful family." The first white-cloaked figure warned.

"Yeah! Yeah. I know. now you go and I will keep an eye on both of them and make a report." The second white-cloaked figure waved her hand.

"I know. Please don’t make any move till we are sure the potential candidate is in danger. Last time you almost intervened when the second one was about to be eaten by Erinyes."

"So what? Should I wait and let that disgusting foolish, low-grade parasite eat the second one?" The second white-cloaked figure shouted at the first white-cloaked figure.

"But we can’t intervene in the order-"

"We can. We can as long as the second one is truly the potential candidate." The second white-cloaked figure said. "If you don’t agree, you can complain and I will back off from this mission, but I will continue to protect the potential candidates."

"God. Calm down. I will accept my mistake, okay? Protect her however you like. No, I will get going."

"Okay."

.................

Fujio City.

It didn’t take much time for Gu Jin to reach the center of Fujio city.

She first rushed to check her shop and found it was in complete debris. The more she looked, the more angry Gu Jin was.

She wanted to go on a parasite hunt again.

Those ba*tards destroyed her shop. Now she will have to pay tens of thousands to repair the shop.

She was already short of money, she still owes money, she will require money to donate to all the skeleton warrior’s family and now she needs money to repair the shop.

"Hey space, tell me is there any artifact or way to improve luck?" Gu Jin asked in a cold voice.

Her bad luck needs to be treated. Or else the next time any factor for surviving is based on luck, she would be first to die. Her luck was just so bad!

"Luck can indeed be improved," The space began as if lecturing a child.

"There are three ancient methods that may help enhance one’s fortune. The first is acquiring a Koi Fish artifact.

Koi are symbols of good luck and prosperity, and keeping one around can attract wealth and success."

Gu Jin’s eyebrow twitched.

"A fish? You expect me to carry around a fish for luck? That’s your big solution?"

"A Koi Fish artifact, not a live fish," Space corrected, unfazed.

"It’s a powerful talisman known to shift one’s fortune."

"Right. Because carrying around a ceramic fish is totally going to change my luck," she scoffed. "What else?"

"There’s also the Lucky Cat," Space continued, ignoring her sarcasm.

"It’s a small cat figurine with a raised paw, believed to bring fortune, particularly in businesses. Having one in your shop could attract customers and wealth."
